Site Status: UPDATE COMMENTS BACK UP

Those of you who checked in over the past few hours saw what happens to a blog when the server goes down in the middle of a rebuild. It started when the server was getting trashed by spammers, and my hosting company shut off my comments so I could get upgrades done (again). We were working at the code and doing rebuilds and tests when a fiber cable was cut in Atlanta. That eventually resulted in the host being unreachable, and along with it, a good number of blogs across the ‘sphere. SDA is hosted at the same company as Instapundit, LGF and many others. All were down.
There are still plenty of glitches, so if there are continuing problems or you get a weird display from time to time, it’s because things are being tweaked. Or mistweaked.
Thanks for your patience!
Afternoon update – still being worked on. Please don’t bother testing or trying to comment. It won’t work. I’ll post a notice when things are back up and running. I’m not going to be doing much in the way of posting until it’s finished, as the posts are incomplete without your feedback.
As an aside – comments or not, there were still more than 600 visits to the site in the last hour!

  1. Gee, Kate, a bad case of withdrawal caused by not being able to access SDA: Disastrous!
‘Glad to see you’re up and running again–at least, I’ll find out when I try to post this.
‘Hope the rebuild moves onward and upward rather than crashing the system.
Ah, the wonders of technology when it works and the tearing out of hair and knashing of teeth when it doesn’t… 😉

  2. BTW: The post above was first submitted at 9:09 a.m., February 2! It’s now 12:55 a.m., February 3…
