Voting Day Chatter

There's lots to keep the political junkies entertained today at the Corner. (The blog of the conservative magazine, National Review) And my guess is that you're best turning off your TV sets to follow them when official returns begin to come in. They were hours ahead in their projections and more accurate than any of the networks, by several orders of magnitude. It pays to have friends in high places. If Republican internals are released, it's a pretty good guess they'll be among the first to get them..

Media outlets in the US have reportedly set up elaborate safeguards to prevent early leaking of their "exit polling". Why, I don't know, as they were virtually all wrong in their projections the last time we went through this dance. If you're curious, though, the best place to watch for that at Drudgereport, the Internet's #1 Source For Breaking Hyperventilating!

Glenn Reynolds - "My prediction: If they're bad for the GOP they'll leak early. If they're good for the GOP, they won't."

And for those who wonder why the interest in US mid-terms on a Canadian blog (notwithstanding our significant American traffic) - well, hey - I don't get the deal about Monday Night Football, either.

Mark Steyn's predictions. (link fixed)

A reader reminds;

"the Pajamas Media team is in full force today. They will be posting video from inside the Lieberman and Schwarzenegger campaign headquarters. Also, PJM will feature commentary from DC editor Richard Miniter and web luminaries such as Jeff Goldstein, Catherine Seipp and Glenn Reynolds late into the night. Preview postings can be found here.

And for comic relief, Journalism's Crazy Old Clown In The Attic , Dan Rather stands by the story that cost him his career. He'll be covering the election results on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Fake, but true.

Geez Kate, when you said, "SDA gets results", you weren't kidding.

"In a disaster now being compared by hoary old lefties, to the death of Che Guevara, the CBC website tilted too far over to the left this Monday, crushing on-duty propagandist/technician, the vivacious left-handed, lesbian, albino gadabout Trixie Venomous."

Whats to get about Monday night Football... it's NFL babe... only thing better than Monday night NFL, is waking up and sitting in front of the TV Sunday at 11:00 am... Football rules. Even my priest has the sense to hurry mass along on Sunday during NFL season.

Sorry, hut this is very much off topic. Could anyone provide me with the e-address for our newest best friend, Jack Layton?

In the old days, before email, before the politicians thought that recycling was a good idea, I sent all my junk mail to my parliamentary representative (postage is free after all). Why not continue this and forward all of your spam to him. Perhaps he will devise a new LAW because that is what Canadians want

It's like watching a horror; you wanna watch but can't.

Layton.J@parl.gc.ca (All MP's are; Sir name. first initial at parl...)

Hopefully there'll be a lotta Democrats looking as P.O.'d as Faith Hill did last night!

Kate, don't worry about not getting the NFL... it's a guy thing, can't be explained. When my son was five, he fell in love with the Oakland Raiders... it's how we (men) do things on our planet. NFL comes first.

If you're male and you can't appreciate the sheer poetry of Willis MaGahee juking around some massive bench-pressing fool of a middle-linebacker... you better go get your chromosomes counted again.

instructive example follows...

"For their part the Liberals held another leadership debate over the weekend. It was on TV Sunday afternoon. And I think I speak for most Canadians when I say the best part was when Drew Bledsoe threw that touchdown pass to Terrell Owens."

It seems to be an international spectator sport (no, I don't mean Monday Night Football).

Yeah, those predictions by Steyn and the Cornerites were oh-so-right-on-the-money.

Being There:

Don't be so hard on Steyn. He's only doing what he knows how to do: read from the script.

And it isn't the first time he's been way off on obvious predictions that my kid could have made: http://canadiancerberus.blogspot.com/2006/11/mark-steyn-predictions-on-iraq-2003.html
