Me too Kate !I live "rural",just came in from a day of shovelling(cheated a bit tho..sno-blower for the lane) Beautiful out now,very mild (SE Man.),but roads icy.My hubby works away,so I get to do all the fun stuff,but really don't mind..builds character.Gosh,I'm having a Liberal moment here now,thinking there should be a program,or some funds I could access to help out with all this!After all,I AM woman,hear me beg!

Here in rural southern Alberta the temperature is -24, and with the wind chill it's like -40. Looks like you got a lot of snow there.

Kate, I can feel your pain. Here in the burbs south of Vancouver, I'm looking outside at two feet of FRIGGING SNOW! And it's not going away anytime soon, by the sounds of things. And more is coming in tomorrow.

After helping the neighbours shovel our STREET (because few here have snow tires, our streets don't get plowed due to the absence of snow plows) I made my way to the marina to shovel off my boat. Teetering on slippery snow-clad fibreglass decks, one mis-step away from falling into the frigid water that, for the first time in my experience, has chunks of ice floating in it. Not a happy time. And because it is so cold here right now, the salt spread on the highway doesn't work, so traffic is a mess.

Because of the heavy wet snow, everything in my garden that used to be vertical is now horizontal...

Global Warming?...Al Gore, kiss my A$$, you moron...

I'm from way down east and it's like summer here, I'm almost glad my beloved Axemen didn't get past Laval because they might have froze at the Vanier Cup. I'm looking forward to snow this year, since my new chocolate lab is 6 months old now and I can't wait to see her in her first snow. Keep the fire going.

Only 22C and cloudy down here right now, sigh. It's times like this I don't miss the good old days.
BTW, I haven't had a real good cin bun since I left Canader, or a decent apple fritter either(bless Timmie's little heart).

We still have flowers blooming here in Wolfville.If they "blame" our warm weather in NS lately on Global warming then we think it is only fair they blame your snow and cold on Global cooling.

Tim Blair likes to joke that the weather turns cold whenever eco blowhard Al Gore rolls into town. I don't imagine the old bore could be in Delisle though.

As bad as the weather was for Vanier, at least they missed this snow dump. I can't imagine what it would have been like playing through finger drifts...

Kate: Stay off the roof My niece shovelled the snow from her roof some years back in Swan River and then proceeded to jump off the roof into the pile of snow.
She overshot and had to crawl around to the back door to interupt hubby watching the SuperBowl. He missed the second half taking her to the hospital to have her broken amkle set.Dumb B#$%^#@!
God will take care of the snow on the roof, besides the roof should hold the load.

It's freezing here and we continue to get dumped with snow. Where in the hell is Global Warming...er, I mean Climate Change....er, I mean Climate Injustice?

Sorry for being behind the times of the sooper-dooper calamity that will destroy this planet. Well, in Toronto it's supposed to be 17 tomorrow, but it might rain. We may be able to cope. By the weekend it's supposed to be just around freezing. We may be able to cope. My son in Vancouver says UBC shut down yesterday (alleged "power failure"). He may be able to cope. My daughter in Saskatoon says it pretty much sucks. She may cope ,but it still sucks. What a nation!

I can still remember when my town banned sleds within town limits. (well you had to take a direct route out of town)

Oh. If the snow melts and freezes on the roof it can cause an ice dam and water can get pushed up under the shingles (particularly in valleys). Doesn't hurt to clean off the roof.

It's spring here. To keep those tires from spinning just load a few bags of cat litter in the trunk. Cat litter will help if you happen to get stuck in all that beautiful white stuff.

OK ronrob, I'll admit that I'm a whiner :-) But I'll bet that where you live, you don't have to pay $450,000 for a residential lot either (house is extra).

The -25 to -35 stuff gets old really fast. I think Calgary has about a third the snow Delisle has but likely 3000 times the traffic gridlock.

My feeling is that Stelmach will win as he will be the overwhelming second choice of both he Dinning and Stelmach fans.

Stelmach seems to a decent guy. I hope he also has, like Morton, a warrior streak. The Harper "Chinook" could end next summer and Alberta could be facing PM Rae propped up by the "Friends of the Taliban" party.

Mt. Baker, Wash. got 8 to 12 feet of new snow.

Monday evening, the area was reporting 96 inches of new snow in four days, and 142 inches of snow in the past week, creating a 125-inch base at Heather Meadows.

Love Mt Baker, and Mt Washington on Vancouver Island too. Tremendous amounts of snow can fall in a short period of time. Anyway, this global warming is just dandy, Monday morning in Whitehorse YT, an all time low for November, minus 41C without the wind factored in, and that was one of the "milder" temperatures in the Territory.

I've got four acres that are drifted in and I need to clear a path for the school bus tomorrow morning. I may need to impose on the Father-in-law to bring the Jesus Big Tractor with the 20 foot blade over.

That one of the backyard brought back memories of digging the very same kinds of "trench systems" for our miniature schnauzer.

He is now with us here in the UK where winter means darkness and dampness instead. I'm quite sure he misses being able to plow his muzzle through the snow for that refreshing winter morning wake-up.

I just noticed the wire fence on the left side of the top photo. I haven't seen one of those for decades. They used to be everywhere in small town Saskatchewan. How old is your house?

And now the whistling Prairie wind has come up. That powder snow turned into 4' drifts in my yard.
Oh, well. Two hours on the old 9N tractor, in a snowsuit, to get the car out to the road.

In retrospect, as I sit here with my fingers tingling as they thaw out, I enjoyed it. Go figure...

Just got a note from an old friend in Vancouver: "Nobody has salt, shovels or even scrapers for their car. We were using spatulas to scrape the windows of the car yesterday morning."

Here in greater NYC it's actually a damp and light gray with highs in the 60F range: balmy.

We're on the other side of that weather system that's shoving cold air down as far as New Mexico and we're getting a big gust up from Gulf of Mexico.

I know, our time will come.

The crazy thing is, I like snow.

This canuck is spending the winter in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas (a.k.a The Texas Tropics wher it is 30* everyday...I don't miss the snow...yet.

Bart F.: Only the candidate who comes in last will have his 2nd choice count. I was afraid they would count all 2nds but they wont. Mortons 2nd choice will most likely be Stelmach. But, Stelmachs 2nd choice will probably be split, so it will be a cliff hanger. Who will resign to give Dinning a chance to get elected. A lot of people think he is still an MLA. Will the city voters come out if the weather is still bad. Still very cold here, and minimum snow. Feel sorry for all those kids walking to school. Glad I don't have a dog to walk, but we do have 3 stray cats living under our w/c ramp. I do feed them but they can't come in the house.
