When it comes to reaction to Don Cherry by Quebecers - he gets exactly what he deserves. He is an intolerant a-hole and you are too if you agree with his comments which are blatantly intolerant and abusive. Any comments to the contrary? Bring it!

I don't watch hockey, but you can tell a lot about a man knowing who his enemies are. The intense hatred spewed by the people who don't like Don Cherry tell me he's a good man. He is what they aren't: honest, decent, honourable.

So he wouldn't be able to stand the childishness of the House of Commons for five minutes. But he might make an excellent senator.

And if he just agreed to campaign for the Tories next election (February?) -- appearing where needed to get the crowds out -- that would drive the other three parties absolutely wild with vicious anger. They would all say things about him that would reveal their true colours.

Don Cherry may not fit the Lefty mould and may be a bit rough around the edges but he is a very honest, patriotic Canadian. More than can be said about the Bloc whose raison d'etre is to break up the Country.

Hassle, guess what? Its OK to be intolerant of those who are intolerant. Cherry's rants in the past about Quebecers go beyond just the seperatists. He hates Quebecers, period. If you think that is OK then you obviously belong with Cherry and Western Canadian. I totally agree with your characterization of Cherry as a "blowhard and a buffoon". I wouldn't stop there. Sounds like some Liberals have sour "Grapes", or better yet, Liberals are trying to make some whine from grapes.

I someone out there might be implying that my comments indicate that I am a Liberal. Wrong! I am a dyed-in-the-wool big C Conservative. Some see Liberals in the closet of every debate. Try to broaden your perspective. It is not always a left or right issue. In this case it is about Cherry's overt intolerance. I abosolutely respect his right to express himself. I absolutely have the right to lambaste his intolerance.

My final comment on this issue (it doesn't deserve any more of my time) is this: If having Don Cherry as one of the top ten Canadians is as good as we can do, we are either in big trouble in this country or it says way too much about the people who voted for him. I'm hoping its the latter.

You know, contrary to the efforts to change the definition of the word, "tolerance" does not mean "freedom from criticism".

Buffoon he is but whom would you trust with your last dollar? Who would you trust with all your money given the hypothetical choice of having to trust someone you didn't know? You cannot tolerate him...ergo, you are intolerant (at least on this issue). You can disagree with him as much as you wish and you can explain why others shouldn't listen to him or take him seriously. But your comments smack of an attempt at censorship when you "label" those who choose to tolerate or support Don Cherry.

As for being free not to tolerate the intolerant, guess what...you're free not to tolerate ANYONE, as far as I know. But to say "I cannot tolerate him because he is intolerant" simply begs the retort "I cannot tolerate YOU because YOU are intolerant"...again, I say, ironic.

I am free to support (or tolerate) Don Cherry as much as I desire...I don't really care what you think of that or of me...I can tolerate your intolerance.

Don Cherry says controversial things to increase his viewership on a TV show. It's hypocritical how the English intolerant French can't tolerate Don Cherry because of a single off the cuff remark he made three years ago. Why were they watching Cherry anyway? I guess they channel surf on Saturday night to look for a reason to take offense.

This remark was actually proven to be true by a lawyer who did his own research into the visor issue. And it was proven that indeed more French Canadian and Europeans were wearing face visors than other North American players. So get over it already. Where's the bias when it's a proven fact?

Don says what needs to be said in a world where very few will risk a PC backlash. He is a great Canadian, and better recognized than "a different Bob" can ever hope to be.

I personally like Don Cherry. He supports the troops and believes in Canada, unlike the Liberals or NDP.

A lot of what Don Cherry says should be taken with a pinch of salt and half a bottle of 15 year old Scotch.

Cherry is simply Canada's Number 1 sh!t disturber with a captive audience. And very good at it too!

Despite being a tolerant country, we STILL allow traitors like the Bloc liscence to do their thing. At one point in our history, we even had this party of seperatists and traitors as our "loyal" Opposition. Go figure.
