Well, you know it's just like here..the Liberals have been out of office since what... January? and already they state that the country is going to get better..super better!..once the next gift to all Canadians is anointed at their leadership convention.

After all, they say, yes sir..you showed us..we have learned our lesson from that long stretch away from the promised land..we are fit to govern again..and then everything will be roses once more..the world will be right and coloured a wonderful shade of red..as it must be..

It only took the Conservatives 13 years for the public to deem them barely fit to govern again. If the Liberals can do it in 1 year, that will be rather impressive, if not all too great for our country.

What's this law called: The See-Saw Law? Or the IDWPIIPLHWR Law (It Depends Which Party Is In Power How We Report Law )?

I've noticed the obverse here in Canada, now that the CPC has formed the government.

All of a sudden, the whole MSM is criticizing Canada's role in Afghanistan, putting our troops, the CPC, the Minister of Defence, and Prime Minister Stephen Harper under the microscope and making them run the gauntlet every day.

When the Liberals were in power, I don't remember the incessant MSM coverage of the return of soldiers' coffins to Canada. There was no discussion about families' preferences, or severe criticism of the government, when it came to a decision about coverage or no coverage. Then PMPM and his Minister of Defence were not under scrutiny 24 hours a day, seven days a week about Canada's Af'stan mission.

And now it's Kyoto.

Where was the MSM during the 13 dismal years of Kyoto under the Librano$, who were the Party in power, for G*d's sake, when it was signed? For 13 L-O-N-G years, there was barely a whisper of criticism of the Libs or the Kyoto Protocol, except to praise it and the fact that the Libs signed it: Weren't they "green," weren't they obviously concerned about Canada's responsibilities in putting a check on global warming? All the while, Canada's greenhouse-gas emissions were steadily rising, while the U.S. was curbing theirs. Any word in the MSM about this? Nope. Only constant griping about the U.S. not having signed onto Kyoto.

Today?

All of a sudden, the climate is one of Canadians' top concerns and, according to the MSM, the Canadian government, Rona Ambrose and the PM in particular, aren't doing anywhere near enough to stem our gaseous emissions, even though they're bringing in REALISTIC measures and targets that can actually be met without bankrupting Canada.

You've gotta wonder, though it makes your head hurt. And where are the gaseous emissions and hot air really coming from?

The Librano$ and the MSM. But who would know?

BeenAround climate change isn't a "recent" worry in the minds of Canadians. It's only consumption hungry Conservatives riding high on the hog, or outside of a smog riddled area that could possibly have made it through the last 10 years oblivious to Canada's climate change concerns.
It's only a shame that the Liberals too such a lack of initiative on the problem that the Conservatives want to wait 6990 days to fix the problem, when they could have stalled for maybe only 5000 days "realistically" if the Liberals started making corrections when they were in office.

Saskboy: How's about some data or facts to back up your silly assertions. Are you so stupid as to suggest that it is only Conservatives that are adding to greenhouse gases? That was a rhetorical question, by the way.

Ontario is one of the biggest polluters and it is hardly a Conservative hotspot...the Fiberal and Non Democratic Parties are big here and THEY support the polluting industries.

The earth's atmosphere has been "warming" for over ten thousand years. Reducing pollutants in the air we all breath is the biggest problem we face. The Earth Summit in Brazil, which spawned Kyoto, was a Mo Strong vehicle designed to redistribute wealth from taxpayers to the pockets of Mo and his friends, period.

"Reducing pollutants in the air we all breath is the biggest problem we face."
I agree that's certainly one of them. One might consider the needless starvation/disease of people in poor countries when the food is grown in excess elsewhere, as another biggest problem.

Rhetorical or not, I'm answering. Heard of the tar sands? Do you know how they get the oil out of the sand? They heat it, using natural gas [methane CH4] which doesn't take a chemistry genius to realize that burning it creates CO2 among other greenhouse gasses. Not that my example is proof alone, but the rate at which it's being consumed can't be insignificant to Canada's pollution contribution to the world's atmosphere.
Of course there are people of other political leanings who are greedy and don't care if Canada has a sustainable energy and pollution/health policy. The Liberals and Conservatives have demonstrated they lack any will to deal with the problems though.

I've noticed big differences since Wednesday morning. My hair is growing back, my weight is coming down, and hot chicks are after me. If I'd known that things would be this good, I would have voted for more Democrats than the one for whom I did vote (Jerry Brown for California attorney general). I'm about to go for a reasonably long bike ride; I expect that I'll do it in record time. God bless the Democrats. I've been a fool for the thirty-six years that I've been voting.

Saskboy, sometimes you make me embarassed to be from Saskatchewan. What could have spawned your relative ignorance?

Considering the starvation/disease of the world's poor is laudable, though I doubt you would propose useful remedies. Unless I'm mistaken, you would have been an avid supported of the DDT ban that effectively killed tens of millions of the poor in the developing world. I also believe it is more of a Liberal mind-set to give aid to poor countries without seriously considering who in the country is receiving the money. Giving aid money to tyrants can actually make it harder for the poor of those countries to get by, as their oppressors are being sustained by the wealth of free nations.

Are you suggesting that Albertans, who produce the oil needed by the rest of the country, are more to blame for producing it, than the rest of the country is for using it?

My senile neighbour thinks that Bill Clinton is President of the US again.
She is all smiles now that "that awful Bush is out of office....."
I think you'd like her Saskboy... you could share your common deep understanding of world affairs.

well, maybe if the moonbats had allowed us here in Ontario to incinerate our garbage(very efficient) to produce energy, we would not have the following
1. methane from said garbage
2. diesel burned from shipping said garbage
3. diesel burned from 2nd fleet doin the 3R gig
4. diesel burned from cfb to heat infrastructure
this is just one small example of how the idiot left contributed greatly to any said problem...so please...enuf blame 4 everyone

Yes, Kingstonlad, and apparently the solution to the problem is to force relatively clean (and yes, low emission) countries to carry the can for Kyoto, while the fastest growing "emitters" are the exempt countries, including China and India. Have you noticed that global warming is a life-threatening problem, except for third world emissions? After all, we in the West (yes we are at fault again) caused global warming in the first place. Never mind that a proper scientfic proof of human warming has NEVER been presented, just a CONSENSUS. Anyway, the problem is carbon monoxide, which actually a pollutant, rather than carbon dioxide, which is a naturally occuring substance that plant life breaths, and is certainly not a pollutant, except by government fiat. The good news is that if you reduce CO, you usually reduce CO2. Sorry folks, can't do that because third world is modernizing (ie-polluting) and we in the West are at fault, not only for their tribalism, authoritarianism and lack of respect for the rule of law. Apparently we are responsible for their pollution too (We did it first).

China's coal fuelled generation capacity in '03 was 239 gigawatts and is forecast to increase by an additional 546 gigawatts by 2030. By comparison, Ontario's current capacity is 6.3 gigawatts.

China won't be signing on to Kyoto.

I wonder what Jack Layton and the Liberals are going to do about this outrage?

Answer: Finance further pollution in developing countries through Kyoto.

Hey guys. My main point is that the MSM paint a really bad picture of the CPC, while letting the Libs and Dippers off, big-time, on WHATEVER issue they cover.

It just so happens that health, the environment, and the Canadian mission in Af'stan are the three most pressing problems in the public's mind today, according to the CBC and CTV.

Saskboy, whatever the reasons for global warming, the MSM were not pressing the Librano$ during the 13 years they were in power. They praised them, and blasted President George W. Bush for not having signed the United States of America up for Kyoto. Their motto: Don't confuse us with the facts.

The fact was, in those 13 years, the U.S. greenhouse gas-emissions fell, while Canada's rose significantly. And further, and not reported by our intrepid "investigative MSM reporters," who was it that was making money off the Kyoto Scheme...er, Protocol? Yupper. Uncle Mo and Co. (thanks, Bruce Randall, for pointing this fact out to fact- and sight-impaired Saskboy).

As for blaming "the consumption hungry Conservatives riding high on the hog...," who, exactly, would you be talking about? The Librano$, with all of their perks, their fancy cars, their travelling first class all the way--on the Canadian taxpayers' dollar--are paragons of virtue? Wake up, shake yourself off, and open your eyes. Then TAKE A GOOD LOOK around you. You're stuck in some kind of MSM mind warp which needs to be straightened out.

The Alberta tar sands have been there for millions of years. It is Ontario's, Quebec's and B.C's thirst for energy that is fueling the development of the tar sands.Quebec should be a leader in the use of electric cars as they export most of the energy that they produce.

The guy is confused enough already, talking about CO and CO2 will just confuse him more.

Liberals in Ont should stop breathing for 10 consecative minutes every 3 hours. Think of the co2 that would not be produced. What human activity caused the earth to warm enough to finish off the ice age. Maybe the iceage is another farce. Has anyone heard anything about the by-election in Ont. I thought it would be national news, (must mean the CPC is ahead). What happened to the leadership race, haven't seen any of them recently on the news or read about them. Newmans panel did state that Iggy is in serious trouble, re Que and nationhood. Lets vote on Que, to keep them or kick them out of Canada.

Saskboy, you think that the last "IceAge" is a silly assertion? Ice over a mile thick, covering Canada, a mile thick of ice, on Canada.

Isn't it a real kicker to hear the Liberals hoot and holler about all the things they let ride and ignored for the past 13 years, like the military and their latest grave concern, the Environment.

In a mere nine months the Conservatives are being accused of practically ruining the country, that is according to the Liberals and the rest of the Lefturds.

The people of Canada can't be gullible enough to swallow the crap from the MSM, if they are, we're in big trouble.

Oh gosh, so many arrogant people to deal with, and not enough time.
"for pointing this fact out to fact- and sight-impaired Saskboy"
Actually I don't wear glasses, and get my eyes checked regularly.

I can also make the subtext 2 or 4, etc for organic and other compounds, but don't devote the time. Congrats Rob for showing off though.

Bruce, name the two regions of Saskatchewan that weren't covered by the last ice age will you? I'll tell you if you're right.

How long will it be until these demacrats get dumped they wont stay in favor forever

Irwin daisy. You ask what Taliban Jack and the Liberals are doing about the increase in coal power generation in China? I believe I read something a couple years ago that Paul Martin (and I would assume the rest of the Liberal crew) was heavily investing in "dirty" (as in high sulphur content) coal companies etc. Maybe someone could check into that somehow?? I'll try finding out for sure.

Saskboy, you state that people in Cities are aware of smog etc from pollution. I propose a huge pollution tax on all people living in cities with more than, say 2 million people. This tax could also be applied to people who fly on a jet to lecture on global warming too. And why not people that oppose nuclear power as well? Of course the greatest culprit in Global Warming, the Sun, would have to be taxed as well.

Saskboy,

According to Wikipedia, methane is 23 times as potent as a greenhouse gas as an equal mass of carbon dioxide. This means that the methane from the tar sands must be burned to stop it escaping to the atmosphere and burning up the planet.

Saskboy, I am very proud to say that I grew up in the beautiful Cypress Hills. My family homesteaded there in 1898 and still own a good portion of the land there. They are the finest of stewards of the land and they raise the best grassfed beef that will ever cross your plate.
This riding is represented by one of the most popular, M.P.s to ever go to Ottawa, Mr. David Anderson. The equally popular, highly intelligent, Lee Morrison represented the Cypress Hills in the Reform Party with an 80% representation. Talk about a landslide!

The Cypress Hills was a place that Romanov went to visit once while he was Premier. My uncle said he had a temper tantrum on stage and he (my uncle) has been laughing at him (Roy) ever since..I am surprised that you, of all people, Saskboy, would mention the Beautiful Cypress Hills...on a blog...in Canada. The Cypress Hills is a refuge for people who still live by the pioneer, independent spirit that built this country. These 'Canadian values' certainly are not the one's that Taliban Jack and his Liberano$/Dipper friends squawk about on your 'idiot box'.
You better lock your lips with a flapper guard if you plan to visit the Cypress Hills. Most people there do not suffer fools with much grace.

The vast majority of Canadian newspapers endorsed the Conservatives in the last election. The MSM has been, if anything, biased in favour of the Tories in recent years.

Maclean's, the National Post, the Sun chains all give positive, sometimes even fawning, coverage to the Conservatives.

For all the complaints about the "liberal media", only the Toronto Star endorsed the Liberals.
