Just imagine what life was like once upon a time when no one could write music, compose fiction or paint without court or church approval?
Over 400 years before the birth of Christ, ancient Greek literary characters, from Lysistrata to Antigone, reflected the struggle for sexual equality. The subsequent notion that women could vote, divorce, dress or marry as they pleased was a millennia-long struggle.
It is almost surreal now to read about the elemental hatred of Jews in the Spanish Inquisition, 19th-century Russian pogroms or the Holocaust. Yet here we are revisiting the old horrors of the savage past.
Beheading? As we saw with Nick Berg and Daniel Pearl, our Neanderthal enemies in the Middle East have resurrected that ancient barbarity — and married it with 21st-century technology to beam the resulting gore instantaneously onto our computer screens. Xerxes and Attila, who stuck their victims' heads on poles for public display, would've been thrilled by such a gruesome show.
Who would have thought centuries after the Enlightenment that sophisticated Europeans — in fear of radical Islamists — would be afraid to write a novel, put on an opera, draw a cartoon, film a documentary or have their pope discuss comparative theology?

Some might say we can blame a lot of our social degradation on the 'enlightenment'. "Goddess Unmasked" by Dr. Philip Davis (UPEI) does a good job of enlightening us about the 'progress' accomplished by the intellectuals of the day. He follows their progress up to the modern day. Don't fool yourself into thinking that our 'civilization' is that much less violent. We are just better at using words to make our violence seem rational. Abortion would be an example. But the same people who refuse to see them as a threat, are the ones who are our greatest threat to peace and happiness at home - the liberal, secular humanists.

The west, except for Bush and various commentators (like Hanson, Malkin, Steyn, etc) are refusing to acknowledge the vicious and criminal violence of the jihadists.
The postmodern world of utopian socialism has led us to believe that 'all individuals are good' and that if they behave badly, it is not their fault; it is the fault of (a)their economic status; (b) their socialization as 'conquered people'; (c) both of which are due to us, the West.
The fact is, 'a' and 'b' are empty. The jihadists are both poor and middle and upper class. The jihadists are not from conquered societies, for all peoples have, at some time, or other, been both conquered and conquering. The jihadists are - one word - evil. They have made a choice and must be accountable for that choice. They have chosen Islamic fascism, which is a destructive, racist, and evil ideology.
The West, with its liberal socialism, which totally rejects the concept of evil, doesn't know how to deal with Islamic fascism.
And the jihadists cloack their evil, their criminality, within the haven of 'religion'. They claim that their actions are both determined by their religion and/or, are the results of the 'oppressions of a and b'. A religious cloak renders the individual almost immune to accountablity, as does the ideology of sin and guilt of 'colonization' or 'repression' or 'racism' or...
But the facts are simple. These individuals are not interested in a just or good society for Islamics; they are interested only in destruction. The destruction of democracy and the destruction of our human qualities by the introduction of Islamic fascism.

This is what took place when Dallas Grondalski met up with Hell's Angel's Charles Diaz, a man very much in the mold of Islamic terrorists.
Frankly, there is very little difference between the behavior of Islamic terrorists and brutal members of outlaw motorcycle gangs when they are at their worst.
The behavior of Islamic terrorists is virtually no different than unspeakable crimes committed by the most horrible criminals that our society can produce.
To revel in and champion this brutality, to excuse or appease it, to search out ideological reasons, to offer some mollification for the mind, is to become an enabler for the very sort of act I quoted above.
If the Left wishes to offer up their lives and their children's lives, or if they want to try to find some deeper meaning, then they are the kind of people who rush to the defense of a monster like Charles Diaz.

On Fox last night, I watched a 40 minute version of 'Obsession.' I would hope that everyone would order the film to see what is truly happening. Fox is running it again today, several times.
One imam, speaking in England, explains to his fellow cultists that all Kafir are like cows. You can take them into slavery, or if you want, kill them. Either way a muslim has these Allah ordained rights over infidels.
The problem is that we in the west can't comprehend such unfettered hate and terror, so therefore we reject it. At our own peril.
We are tripped up on this question of 'moderate' Muslims. The truth is that there is no such thing as a moderate Muslim. There are terrorists, potential terrorists, or apostates. Hence, whenever you hear of a Muslim talking about reform (moderate) they are threatened with death, because they are identified as apostate.
The Quran, and therefore the cult, is an invention of it's founder, in order to justify his and his followers evil actions through the cynical use of contrived god. A god who was picked for this purpose from a pantheon of pagan arab gods.
As proven by history, when you mix religious favour and zeolotry with personal material gain, lust and collective imperialism you end up with a toxic stew far worse than anything concocted by Hitler. And therefore unbelievably violent acts are acceptable, in fact, commanded.
As much as cults such as Jim Jones' and David Quresh's were outlawed - the far worse cult of Islam must be outlawed as well. Muslim immigration must be ended and their headquarters of hate should be levelled. They should be banned from air travel as well.
It isn't up to us to reform Islam, it is up to them. Governments must protect citizens. And that shouldn't be done by burdening us with additional taxes in order to carry out ridiculous, politically correct security measures, manufactured to fail. Hell, it's against the law for Jews to set foot in Saudi Arabia - this arrangement should be reciprical. No muslims in North America.
However, as maz points out above, and as we've already seen from the McGuinty government's handling of sharia - banning Islam could become part of a larger edict in banning God altogether. Revelations, anyone?
