Kyoto is a Hoax, that is a given. But why is Layton meeting with PM Harper on this matter ?? Could it simply be;
Layton realizes Ontario's Auto Sector would be devastated by Kyoto. So, first make a deal with Harper that controls polution, like a Clean Air Act. Then, forget the Carbon Trading Scam that would send $$s and jobs to Third World Countries.
Win Win Win for Layton. Control polution AND save his Auto Sector jobs AND give the boot to a non-issue. Man-made-global-warming.
Oh, and one more thing. His hard-working NDP men & women can make the Basket-Weaver-Professor-Activist look irrelavant/hoax-vulnerable.

I've copied this from an earlier Reader Tips. Feedback would be really appreciated. (I recently cancelled my 30 year subscription to the Globe and Mail and so don't see John Ibbitson's columns any more. I tend to agree with Joe Molnar, who says he's a Red Tory.) Here's my request:
I keep in touch with Steve Paikin, the host of the new show, The Agenda, at TVO. We've weathered many duels: At the moment, we're on speaking terms.
When I recently challenged the leftist make-up of one of The Agenda's panels, he wrote the following to me, "John ibbitson [of The Globe and Mail] is a conservative. He may not be conservative enough for you, but I think that’s your problem. He’s plenty conservative for the rest of the country. And in my books too. And his books too..."
Do the people at sda think Ibbitson's conservative? Please let me know.
Thanks.

Quebec miffed at Kyoto snub
RHÉAL SÉGUin
Globe and Mail Update
QUEBEC — Forty-five seconds is all Quebec demanded to make its case in support of the Kyoto Protocol on climate change at an international meeting in Nairobi.
But Thursday, the federal government said no, making it clear that in international forums Canada speaks with one voice.
Quebec's unequivocal support of the accord contradicts the position federal Environment Minister Rona Ambrose intends to defend next week at the Nairobi meeting.
“It has been agreed that Canada will speak with one voice in Nairobi and we have ... many common objectives and because of that we must speak with one voice,” she told reporters Thursday in Ottawa. ...-
Putting the Intelligence back into Intelligence.
Top cops cancel appearance
Questions swirl around event host - Firm mistaken for federal agency
The invitations for a "Homeland Security Plenary Session" dinner to be held this month at the Royal York Hotel, came with an emblem of U.S. and Canadian flags crossing a bald eagle, a list of well-known speakers, and a price tag of $250 a plate.
But for some invitees who work or study in North America's intelligence and security field they also came with questions: What is a Homeland Security Plenary Session dinner and what is the Federal Protection Agency that's organizing it?
A call to ex-CIA agent Michael Scheuer, who is one of the speakers for the Nov. 28 dinner, led to more confusion. "I was under the impression it was a federal government of Canada organization. It's not?" asked the former head of the CIA's Osama bin Laden search team when contacted by the Toronto Star.
Both the RCMP's Assistant Commissioner, Mike McDonell, and newly appointed OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino were scheduled at one point to speak, but both have since cancelled their appearances....

Enough is Enough

Lets see them squirm & Sqeal when it happens.
lookout - I fully agree with you. John Ibbitson is NOT a conservative. I repeat - NOT a conservative. He may self-define himself as such, but the policies he promotes are pure Liberalisms. He's devoted to multiculturalism, to bilingualism, to public health care, etc etc.
I'd say he's a romantic, utopian Pearson-Trudeau type. He's appalled by the waste and corruption of the Only Governing Party which is why he's self-defined himself as 'not Liberal', but, his ideological bent is pure brainwashed Liberalism.
Susan Riley, who often appears with Ibbitson on TVO is a more prejudiced Liberal. She's quite open about her personal dislike of Harper, saying the most offensive ad hominem things against him, and her ideology is pure Liberal. Ibbitson is more honest, more agonizingly self-examining and can't agree with her Safe Haven Nature of I Am A Liberal No Matter What. He'll examine the issues - but - he's so thoroughly brainwashed, he can't see the larger history and perspective.

Time For Change In Canada
Iam refering to the Senate,
The Accountability Act has been Gutted By the Liberal Dominated Senate with 150 ammendments.
Nothing will ever get done in Canada as long as you have an Appointed Senate. The current Senate is 64liberal Senators to 23conservative Senators.
They will always hold power in Canada, Unless Canadians wake up to this fact.
Wal-Mart in U.S. lifts ban on 'Christmas'
...the world's biggest retailer announced yesterday it will rename its seasonal area "The Christmas Shop," instead of "The Holiday Shop," play Christmas carols in its stores and increase its overtly Christmas-themed displays by 60% this year...
ET, re Ibbitson, I see him as walking the thin grey line between modern and classic liberalism. Not a conservative for sure but not a dyed in the wool modern liberal either
bryanr - I fully agree; the Senate either goes or is reformed such that it is elected, short term and accountable.
Can you imagine - we, supposedly a democracy, pay for and obey, an undemocratic patronage part of our legislature that can bar the elected will of the people.
JM - good for WalMart. I'm an atheist - but I'm against the denigration of Christmas.
[Sorry about the double post].
zip - I think that's his honesty surfacing that enables him to criticize the Liberal party ideology. But I don't see him as a classic small-l liberal; he's too much of a groupie (multiculturalism) etc. He's somewhere, as you point out, in the middle.
By the way, lookout, I thought that was a rather offensive response by Steve Paikin to you.
Top court refuses to hear whether religion can be a murder defence
OTTAWA - The Supreme Court of Canada declined an invitation on Thursday to consider whether Muslim cultural and religious beliefs in ''family honour'' should be taken into account as justification for receiving a lighter sentence for killing an unfaithful wife.
The court refused to hear the appeal of Adi Abdul Humaid, a devout Muslim from the United Arab Emirates, who admitted to stabbing Aysar Abbas to death with a steak knife on a visit to Ottawa in 1999.
In an application filed in the Supreme Court, Humaid's lawyer, Richard Bosada, argued Humaid was provoked by his wife's claim she cheated on him, an insult so severe in the Muslim faith it deprived him of self-control...
...Humaid and Abbas were Canadian citizens who lived in Dubai in 1999...

The Conservative Federal Accountability Act has been essentially gutted by the obstructionist Liberal Senators. Anyone following politics in Canada will know that a change in the way government conducts its affairs needs a complete overhaul.
Only Liberals don't want change. The current Liberal Senators are doing the dirty work at present.
Perhaps now would be a good time for the blogging community to out the obstructionists with a direct assault into the Lib Senators email boxes.
A good place to start is with the chief obstructionist Senator Joe Day
dayja@sen.parl.gc.ca
Personally this unhyphenated Canadian will work on something over the weekend for unelected Senator Day to cogitate on.
Over the prior 12yrs Tax Laws were amended in Canada to favor only the Rich & Powerful(liberals) with out any fear of them being over turned by the Un-Elected Senate, This Was Your Tax Dollars at Work.
Case in point Canada Steamship Lines & We all know who owns that.
So Yes ET I agree, Are we are a democracy or Are we still living in a Feudal Society?
Great news that off shore money might soon be taxed. I thought that was coming after the Income Trust taxes. Poor Martin, might have to pay taxes to the country he and his cohorts ruined during the past years. As an alternative, maybe our finance minister could order them to pay for all the kyoto credits that are supposed to help us. No one has explained to canadians how buying credits from china will stop greenhouse gas in Canada. And, do those supporting kyoto really know what it is, what are they prepared to give up to lower emissions 20% below 1990 levels. I think they mean that you, not they, change your lifestyle. Three cheers for Wal-Mart. My threat to boycott stores not using Merry Christmas must have done it.
The Canadian Senate ?? Simple. Appoint Don Cherry and watch the fur fly !!!

Canada sends the USA perfectly good comedians and the USA sends Canada their unelected Democrat politicians.

Sorry, you've lost me. Who did what where?
Is it finally blowback time against the multi-cultist cowards?
Roger's Fido brand is also running an ad campaign with 'Merry Christmas' spelled out. This is a good turn of events. If this improves the bottom line, which I believe it can, then it can spread.
The death of Political correctness and the multi-cultists, one bullet at a time, driven by good old fashioned greed.
It's a good step towards bringing western culture back. A culture which can defeat Islamic fascism and the Liberal/left self loathers.
You know, if the CPC actually do put an end to the tax avoidance schemes (via offshore tax havens)of the very rich, I just might be able to swallow that Income Trust kick in the pants they gave to all of us small investors and retirees. Do I really believe it will happen? Well, it would probably take until Hell freezes over, but all I can say on that one is "go get 'em Flaherty!"
Al Qaeda: We'll Never Rest Until White House Destroyed. Video on foxnews dot com.
They say Rumsfeld's resignation amounts to running away from the battlefield. They say if America doesn't stay and fight, it will have disastrous results for the World and America. There's more.
“Canada sends the USA perfectly good comedians and the USA sends Canada their unelected Democrat politicians.”
It puzzles me too.
First Arkansas’s Willie comes to praise our efforts in Afghanistan, then Dean Howard to work his mojo on the Libranos..
If we could only resurrect Shemp we would really be back in the comedy business.
If an alien from Roswell were to read this thread it would think that conservatives are unable to accumulate wealth but in the off chance a few were able to then they wouldn't have the smarts to shelter it off shore.

INVEST IN WHAT?????
Collectors are buying the "Barbie and Tanner the Dog Playset" as an investment. (The $24 set is already on sale at Target for $12.77.) The set includes Barbie, Tanner the dog with moveable ears, mouth, head and tail, dog bones and biscuits, chew toys, trash can, pooper scooper and some realistic miniature poop. Barbie doll accessory buyers pay big prices for old, tiny items because they are easily lost and become rare. Sunglasses, shoes, gloves, even girdles sell for over $50 each. Which makes us wonder about Tanner's poop. In years to come, will it set a record? We predict the entire Tanner set will go up in price because it is such a strange thing to add to a doll's wardrobe.

I've never seen anybody walk into low hanging branches as often as David Brown.

Brown:
it don't matter if you are a liberal/conservative/ndp or alien from roswell, In case you have not noticed most Canadians do not or will never have the funds to CHEAT/STEAL/hide from paying there share in offshore accounts. Most canadians are Honest Hardworking Taxpayers, that will retire on whatever they were able to save. Not the GREEDY Pigs at the trough that this country has been exposed to over the prior 12years.
Now i know that all of that is hard to fathom in that Liberal mindset of yours, that yes there are Honest people still around & yes they are slowly coming together to take the pigs to the butcher shop.

Tommy
I went into a public-'ouse to get a pint o'beer,
The publican 'e up an' sez, "We serve no red-coats here."
The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I:
O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away";
But it's ``Thank you, Mister Atkins,'' when the band begins to play,
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it's ``Thank you, Mr. Atkins,'' when the band begins to play.
I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but 'adn't none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music-'alls,
But when it comes to fightin', Lord! they'll shove me in the stalls!
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, wait outside";
But it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide,
The troopship's on the tide, my boys, the troopship's on the tide,
O it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide.
Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap;
An' hustlin' drunken soldiers when they're goin' large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin' in full kit.
Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy how's yer soul?"
But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll,
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll.
We aren't no thin red 'eroes, nor we aren't no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An' if sometimes our conduck isn't all your fancy paints:
Why, single men in barricks don't grow into plaster saints;
While it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, fall be'ind,"
But it's "Please to walk in front, sir," when there's trouble in the wind,
There's trouble in the wind, my boys, there's trouble in the wind,
O it's "Please to walk in front, sir," when there's trouble in the wind.
You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country," when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
But Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool - you bet that Tommy sees!

Irwin,
If I seem to be walking into low hanging branches, it's because I'm picking the low hanging fruit.
Brown:
You miss the point the loss to canada's coffers is substantial the amount in offshore accounts is estimated to be around $88 billion. So it don't matter of what political spectrum you come from in the long run The Canadian Taxpayers pay for these losses.
You must also remember that these shelters were created under Finance Minister Paul Martin's watch.
So therefore these people that hide in offshore accounts are nothing more then Cheats/liars/criminals in my book.(Ooops sorry i think i just described the prior government with that line oh well shoe fits)
Finaly i would take that from your prior remarks that you approve of offshore accounts?
Just sent this to the liberano senator day.

You were not elected you were appointed by a bunch of people the courts say are crooks. Enough is enough. I refuse to kneel down to the liberano regime.
FREEDOM is our right and I am sick and tired of you and yours continual subterfuge and obstruction in this and all other matters.
I for one will not tolerate your total lack of regard when it come to the voice of the people. You might need to pray that you never have to stand up be voted on, I forsee a long line of former liberano senators in the EI lineup.
Rumsfeld,- National Defence, - Hezbollah.
Very exciting to debate directly with Hezbollah.
