Andrew Coyne;

I expect to see Judy Wasylyscia-Leis, Dawn Black, and the rest of the gang denouncing the Star in the strongest terms for splashing these hateful, sexist slurs -- along with Lady Black's sexual history, we are treated to leering remarks on the size of her breasts, her taste for shopping and other attacks on all women everywhere -- across its front page.

CTV | Saskatchewan does away with mandatory retirement

REGINA — Seniors groups and business people in Saskatchewan welcomed proposed legislation Monday that would do away with mandatory retirement at age 65.

Speaking of the death penalty...

A Canadian citizen has been making headlines in America. And it's not good news.

"COURT - He is accused of a vicious crime - one that is making headlines across North America. Yesterday, the 23-year-old charged in the slaying of a U.S. Navy sailor made his first court appearance."

The thug involved in this murder, Cory Wright, has a previous conviction for almost killing a man with... wait for it... a knife.

It's not much of a stretch to say that the Canadian justice system helped him do it.

Thanks Kate. I appreciate the link.

I'm disappointed that you didn't invite him to sing a few of his better known "Maclean and Maclean" tunes with you, though.

Like "keep it over there Lord"?

This is how the guys in the oil business see it.

YMCA, synagogue in spat over spandex attire
Montreal

...Across an alley, a scant few metres away, is the back of the Hasidic Jewish Congregation Yetev Lev. Scant enough, it seems, that young boys and teens studying at the synagogue can look across into the windows, where they would have a full view of sweaty, spandex-covered bodies, stretching and bouncing in all manner of ways...

...So last February, a member of the Jewish community paid for the windows to be frosted, which in turn frosted Renee Lavaillante....

She and a friend have started a petition to let the sunshine in. The've collected about 100 names over the past month....

Does P. Wells, the journalist, read and cogitate upon the posts/comments here?

The Liberal Party has been characterized here as the Party of the Clouds, the Party of Visions; Wells goes along with that.

The Conservative Party has been named, here, on this blog, as the Party of action; going about its job/work.

Imagine a party "preoccupied with the real lives of real Canadians". What a great election slogan!

Yes, that's it: real lives, real Canadians. When one reads the posts/comments here, the most salient fact left with one is that real lives-real Canadians-real Americans and others are expressing their views on a spectrum of life which is relevant to them. Good on you, Paul Wells.

Yes, Harper is dug in; into the Canadian reality. ...-

"But Harper is dug in deeply enough that it's also hard to imagine him losing much ground outside Quebec. He remains the Keith's India Pale Ale of political leaders: those who like him, like him a lot. This is partly because his government seems preoccupied with the real lives of real Canadians.

Whereas the Liberals are stuck in virtual reality.

It will be their next leader's job to haul them down to earth." ...-

Will Taliban Jack Layton/NDP support this by wearing a "white" poppy?

White, of course, is the non-colour of the white flag of surrender;

the white feather is the symbol of cowardice.

The "white" poppies are being sold; price? These anti-capitalists are in business. Have they registered as a business? Are they collecting/remitting GST? Are these "white" poppies exempted from GST?

Bill Clinton Set to Speak in Ottawa
Josh Pringle

Former US President Bill Clinton will reportedly be paid between 125-thousand and 150-thousand dollars to speak tonight in Ottawa.
Clinton will address 11-hundred people at a fundraising dinner at the Westin Hotel put on by the Jewish National Fund.
The executive director of the Jewish National Fund's eastern region says tonight's sold out event will raise more than 1.1 million dollars.

It is unclear what Clinton will talk about during his 40 minute speech. cfra.com ...-

M. Ignatieff will introduce Willy. Iggy will explain to the assembled that he is not a flip-flopper like Willy's bud, John Kerry.

This will set the tone/stage for the evening.

Iggy will further explain, in Harvard French, that Israel is near and dear to him and beg forgiveness for saying Israel is a war-criminal. To reinforce his mea culpa, Iggy will advise the assembled, that his fave wine is Manischewitz Wine, the number one kosher wine.

Willy will then arise and speak for 3-4 hours, about something near and dear to him: Willy and Yasser Arafat's excellent failures.

AT&T and Bell South if allowed to amalgamate, will become THE World Communications Giant. AT&T want to recover R&D costs and enslave all who use the net with fees to pay AT&T. Influence is applied thusly . .

The ACLU is pinning some of its hopes on Rep. John Conyers, the Michigan Democrat who is set to be the next chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Conyers has suggested imposing greater controls on government surveillance and is in a key position to lead a high-profile investigation.

You can add to a petition by going to Consumers Union , or if you are like myself and most people, and can*t be bothered, just accept that we are going to be paying fees.

Our apathy is exactly what AT&T are banking on and they will likely get their way.

We know Taliban Jack has a penchant for white so he'll be torn as to which poppy to wear beside his white feather. Politically, the hypocrite will go for red but his heart is with the white.

Peace at all costs is the guts of their ideology, come trample us and get a big hug.
