"Who do you think the top five GHG [greenhouse gas] culprits are in Canada?"

Hehehe, I was wondering if a BPoC link was coming right now :-) after Dazzlin made a crack on the Olaf thread.

I was a little surprised to see that SaskPower was way up in #3.

Looks like Jack wants to all become Mennonites.

If we do that, I think we'll get there. Although I'm sure how much CO2 horses put out.

I did see that, but the link came by way of someone else who mentioned the post privately.

Speaking of which , I wonder if Jack brought up the SaskPower greenhouse gas question at the NDP convention here a few days ago ...?

And Libs( with the help of MSM) are trying to perpetuate an idea(or spread baloney...whatever) that the western industries are the bad guys.

yeah the oilsands are causing smog in toronto. maybe we oughta wait for a cold snap and turn off a couple of compressors on the trans canada pipeline for a week

VF, Saskpower is 3, and Alberta is way up there too. Ontario Hydro is one though. Do you mean "western" as in Canada? It seems it's a problem across the country.

Kate,
"I wonder if Jack brought up the SaskPower greenhouse gas question at the NDP convention here a few days ago ...?"
Hahaha, good one.

Ontario Hydro- hiding behind the name but burning coal and gas. gotta luv it.

Taliban Jack probably has visions of another 4.6 billion dollar ransom deal.

Ont Hydro, Dofasco, trains, planes and automobiles. Sounds like what Ontario, the Industrial-Heartland, is made of. Keep talking Jack, you may loose your seat yet. Non-Kyoto Mexico loves high paying auto sector jobs.

I think we tried that let them freeze in the dark thingy before, it got us the NEP! Or is that the other way around?

Maybe we can follow Vegreville's lead, they are powering the town, with cow manure, bet that would go over big in Toronto!

Maybe Taliban Jack can throw on a few bearskins and dance around a wig-wam like in the good old days. I know, hemp, we could all burn hemp to keep warm and power our vehicles. Typical NDP crapola, lots of pie-in-the-sky answers, but no solutions.

Just what the heck reality does this schlub live in?

That report only seems to include pollutants made from burning.

How much does La Grande Project in Quebec produce? Yea, the hydro dam that was built with hardly any environmental assessments... How much GHG comes from repeatedly flooding and drying that much land??

looking at this stuff, it occurs to me that jackoff layton doesnt, as the saying goes, 'do his homework'.

the belchfire coal generators here in daffy duck land ontario were supposed to be shut down in yet another reneged promis by dolt mcguilty.

he too apparently doesnt 'do his homework'.

but its what the voting public wants to hear !!!

What? There's this but no mention of Layton's proposal for a state funeral for the last WW1 vet? Is that because the CRAP party has yet to sign on while every other party has? So much for the NDP not "supporting our troops". Can the CRAP say the same?

Once again, nice blatently partisan, selective posting, Kate.

Craig: is this what you were looking for?

. . . and this just in, the price of tea in China rose one hundred juan per jin.

In any event, it wasn't Jack's proposal, but rather a proposal by The Dominion Institute.

In true leadership fashion, Jack never arrives at the party first but waits to see who's there before calling up the bicycle.

So significant to the NDP was Jack's latest bit of headline grabbing, it still doesn't appear on their website.

I guess you must have missed this:

Questions For The Proponents of the Kyoto Accord

Is the world’s climate continually evolving?

What brought about the end of every ice age to date?

Is it true that if global warming had not occurred in the past that our lands would be covered with a thousand feet of ice?

Did humans cause the global warming that brought about the end of the previous ice ages?

To what extent are we able to effect the world’s climate?

Would compliance by all of the signature countries to the Kyoto Agreement reduce global warming?

Is it true that recent discoveries by some British scientific researchers regarding the changes which may be occurring in the ocean currents, in the Atlantic Ocean in particular, are caused by water temperature changes occurring?

Is it true that the Liberals plan for Canada to comply with the Kyoto targets involved the purchase of perhaps several billion dollars worth of “carbon credits” from some under developed Asian and European countries?-

If Canada were to purchase “carbon credits”, would it result in lower emissions of green house gases or pollutants in Canada?

Would it result in a reduction of global green house gas or pollution?

Would the purchase of “carbon credits” have an impact on Canada’s economy?

Is it true that many third world countries will profit financially from the Kyoto agreement whether or not there are any positive effects on climate change?

Has the IGCC panel considered the suggestion (hypothesis) that an accelerated melting of the Greenland ice cap could put a cover of fresh low density water over the adjacent northern ocean thereby shutting down the gulf stream, as the present salty dense cold water would not be able to drop down to bottom of the ocean, which presently allows the warm gulf to extend to the
north?

Has the IGCC panel considered the apparent correlation of global temperature to sun spot activity?

Is it true that the only scientific group to study and track climate change for more than recent history is the geological community?

Do geologists agree with the Kyoto protocol?

Do the vast majority of so called “climatologists’ have a BSc in “climatology”?,

Is there any universities in the world that offer a degree in climatology and if so qhat are there names?

How many of the Kyoto fear mongers were also in panic mode with the Y2K bug?

How many Kyoto advocates can truly answer these questions, and how many can refute them with plausible , rational answers? I am waiting to hear from you.

Lewis

saskboy...this is a discussion of Canadian GHG emissions...I was making reference to the 'whine' after the Clean Air Act was introduced where some media were 'mentioning' the 'idea' that the Libs figured the Clean Air Act 'favoured' western oil' industries...Libs think any policy has to favour the friends back home, as in Ad-scam.

This just in!Apparently Taliban Jack is realizing how much damage is anti-Canadian aremed forces comments will do to him in the next election.

The New Democratic Party will put forward a motion Tuesday to hold a state funeral for all Canadians who served during the First World War when the final veteran passes away.

I hope taliban jack is forced to admit where the idea of a state funeral originally come from. Just another example of the ndp stealing others ideas and pretending they come from them. I also await answers to Lewis's question. I asked years ago how buying credits would reduce GHG in Canada. Still think that is why Strong is in China,to set up a brokerage house to handle all that transfer of money to liberal pockets. No wonder the libs are mad they lost the elections. All those entitlements gone the way of the dodo.

If those who provide us with electrical power were forced to buy power from individuals who created their own, ( from wind, water, solar or other non polluting sources like is happening in California ) more people would probably do it. Right now there is little incentive to do this, because there is little incentive not much of the equipment is produced, because not much is produced it is expensive, because it is expensive not much is sold, etc, etc.

Lewis,. junkscienve.com has been waiting months for Al the-end Gore to answer even just one of your questions. He is too busy burning up fossil fuels and preaching the world is about to end. It's coming, just wait a minute. But for the answer to who got this all rolling, google Ontario Hydro Costa Rican rain forest.

Dennmark has installed mucho, big windmill capacity. How much conventional capacity has been sidelined/decommissioned ?? None. Wind power is unreliable and expensive.

Question. If windpower is so feasible, why have the likes of Manitoba Hydro not kept it all to themselves ? Instead of letting other investors "in on it " ?? And then only buy it from wind farm operators AFTER your tax dollar subsidy makes it sort-a feasible ??

Hi there, I think Lewis could not have stated a bunch of questions better. They all make sense and I would like to hear even one of the so called experts answer all of the "Qs" with out any "BS". I don't think you can ride the rail, if Canadians are serious about this question mabey they should back their political party and demand that they quit F***ing around. I am quite sure that with the tech we have in the world that our Industries could be cleaner and more effiecient. That water could be cleaner, EG: All major towns, cities and industries build right on the rivers. No wonder we don't have fish anymore and its not from over fishing. All forests are being cut down, where are the animals and birds going, the spray that is used dosen't hurt them. The chems that are used to grow food crops dosen't hurt you, "Maybe". Thanks for letting me spout off Kate. Merle

I heard Taliban Jack on "The World Tonight" last night.

He was talking about wind power providing much of our power; he was asked what percentage of supply would be wind - "Europe uses a lot of wind power." Remember, Jacko, wind power has numerous opponents based on dead song-birds, noise, ruined "pristine" areas, general NIYBY (not in your back yard). You know, the entire enviro wing of the NDP.

He was asked about the effect on the economy - "Europe is meeting targets and their growth in GDP is higher than ours." Numbers please, and corrections for inflation, devalued Euro, etc. All countries doing it, or just the ones in financial collapse? What about our resource-based and manufacturing-based portions of the economy?

He was asked about the effect on the petroleum industry - "They are making huge profits so they must pay." Industries that are efficient (basket weaving, crystal sales, pressed flowers?) by an unknown measure should be given money from those who aren't efficient (you know, those with really heavy lifting - we need thousands of people dragging sledges loaded with oil sands a la "The Ten Commandments" and warming it with their bodies to extract the oil).

No answers, pie-in-the-sky visions, numbers pulled from somewhere ... unpleasant ... , "we need to do anything required to keep us from being made laughing-stocks by all of those successful countries who aren't signatories of Kyoto".

He even said "It's for the children" referring to the increasing numbers of the little kiddies who need to use inhalers because of the increasing dirty air i.e CO2, and who will be living on "Dune, the Desert Planet" in 50 years.

I wish, just for once, that someone would start out by saying, in verifiable detail, what the current conditions are, re: usage, and what has to be eliminated, before they spout "glorious visions" (if we only throw enough money at it) of the future.

He did mention, in passing, that efficient usage of energy increases profits. The head of the NDP, mentioning PROFITS as a good side-effect. But then, this was for the Alberta audience.

Why is it that whenever Jack Layton opens his mouth, I get this sucking sound coming from my wallet??

lewis.
another question...
why are the climates of mars and jupiter also getting warmer? The mars rover is all solar powered so it can't be human released carbon
