Bob Rae

Running his campaign the way he did Ontario!

I believe this calls for an SDA poll...

Who will win the Liberal Leadership?
Michael Ignatieff
Bob Rae
Joe Volpe
Gerard Kennedy
Stéphane Dion
Martha Hall Findlay
Scott Brison
Ken Dryden
It doesn't matter.

Free polls from Pollhost.com

UPDATE - the plot thickens! - Anti-Ignatieff blog linked to Rae camp. (Via National Newswatch.)

UPDATE II - Darcey thinks the real story here is the involvement of the Globe & Mail in pimping a non-story.

There is nothing remarkable about the blog itself, just regular reprints and quotes of news articles critical of Ignatieff along with some pro-Rae ones. Seemingly small and insignificant but somebody took the time to track the guy down and obviously had to send some info to the Globe and Mail which also writes:
The dispute over Internet postings underlines the high stakes of the Liberal leadership race

Especially when Canada’s national newspaper gets involved.

Being first was fun.I got to see the only 100% poll ever. Even though it won't last long. ;)

it doesn't matter!

Ninth is not too shabby either.
I voted for "it doesn't matter" - they mostly are socialist / closet communists or shades of mafia.
Same old, same old Libs.

If Rae wins the leadership bid, the loans won't be a problem for him. As a PCP (Power Corp Puppet) he'll be taught all the liberal financing tricks. The loans will disappear without his own wallet ever becoming any lighter. Power Corp will regain their influence on the federal stage and be back in position to take over running this country. The only way to stop them will be for us to get out there and vote to give the CPC, under PMSH, a majority.

Will it be forgiveable loans(writeoffs)by the 18th month or constructive accounting(brown bag's)?

When he first arrived on the scene, I was convinced that Ignatieff would be acclaimed as the second coming of Trudeau and would be the Liberal leader without much opposition.

However it seems that even the Liberals aren't that stupid and Bob Rae has a better than even chance of becoming their next leader. Hmmm maybe they are that stupid after all.

I was so tempted to say "it doesn't matter"...based on the reasoning that Harper is showing so much strength and leadership that the next election will be a Conservative majority. If that doesn't happen Canada is doomed to and deserves it.
But I am very curious to see what the Lib-think-show will demonstrate. Will they go with puppet Iggy, who thinks the 'nation' thing is all about him, but is so out of touch.(delusions of grandeur) or will they delude themselves into thinking Rae will be able to charm ROC, and hope Ontario forgives and forgets.I work in health care in La La Land...they might 'forget'...scary thought.
Brison and Dryden are still running??? lol

I view this leadership race as a test of the "Desmarais/Strong/Power Corp." behind-the-scenes-puppet-master conspiracy theory.

If Bob Rae wins, I see it as proof-positive of the conspiracy (although I understand that Iggy is involved with the "family" too).

As the Chinese curse goes "May you live in interesting times"!

Who is this Ken Dryden?...:)

And what does he want?

I agree with several posters - it's the PowerCorp, Desmarais, Magna gang; they've been running our political mafia for several decades. Since Trudeau. And they'll fund Bob Rae - such that all those loans, all of them, will be 'forgiveable'. He won't have to repay a penny.

It's a toss-up between the utopian ideology and political structure of Trudeau, which is expressed in Ignatieff, or the corrupt back-room politics enabled by that naive Trudeaupian structure - expressed within Rae.

Trudeau set up a structure, ostensibly about 'equality and collaboration and homogeneity' and etc - with his bilingualism and multiculturalism.

The first, a hopelessly naive view, didn't establish a population fluent in both languages. In less than one generation, it morphed instead into a closed shop cabal situated in the Montreal-Ottawa corridor, where the vast majority of officialdom rests within the control of Quebec ( Montreal - not Quebec City)and where 80% of the Canadian population is excluded from its own governance.

The second, multiculturalism, didn't establish a population zipping openly from one set of cultural beliefs to the next. Instead, it morphed into isolate closed groups, focused around preserving their identity, refusing to develop an integrated Canadian identity, and demanding special favours for their 'special needs'.

This transformation of that naive, stupid, ignorant, idealistic, living-30,000 feet-in the air program of Trudeau - to the pragmatic backroom cabal of Chretien and Martin and their economic filiates of PowerCorp,Desmarais, etc. This gang controls the big economic deals for themselves.

They 'control' the country by massive Shut-Up funding. That is, they set up Make-Work projects in the Maritimes; the gun registry is one of them. They fling Shut-Up money around whenever and whereever it's needed. The latte crowd is shut up by funding Status of Women type programs; by the fraudulent Kyoto agreement, which would devastate Canada's economy and do nothing, nothing, for pollution/CO2 anywhere in the world. And so on.

This cabal was turfed out by Harper. They want back in. Notice - that neither club, the Head-in-the-Clouds Rousseau-Plato romanticism of Trudeau and Ignatieff. ..nor..the back-room Mafia cabal of PowerCorp-Chretien-Rae - have any interest in Canada or Canadians. Not a bit. It's all about power. The first is the power of the abstract intellect. The second is the power that laughs at the idiotic structure that intellect set up - and corrupts it into pragmatic self-interest.

Harper is the first PM in..how long??...who has given a damn about Canada and Canadians.

The cabal wants back in; they lost this last election, not merely because Harper is the better choice. He is - but Canadians are deeply and thoroughly brainwashed in to Trudeaupian head-in-the-clouds. Canadians are those animals on that Orwellian Farm; they are led by rhetoric and promises..and PowerCorp/Chretien/Rae are good at that. The Cabal lost because they were trapped, caught, stealing from the taxpayer in massive, massive amounts.

Can Canadians move themselves off and out of the Orwellian Farm and start to think for themselves? Remember, the MSM is a tool of the Liberals - both the romantic Trudeau and the backroom Chretien gang. Can Canadians break free of this manipulation? That's why I think blogs are so vital for Canadians - and everyone around the world. Finally, individuals have the power to express and make public their views, ask questions..and realize the cabal gov'ts have no answers...etc.

Vote Joe. Early and often.

Go Joe.

Joe's da man. ...-

We're sorry, you've already voted in this poll!

Ignatieff will win on the 4th ballot. Dion will be 2nd and Rae's support will not grow - leaving him a close 3rd.

Liberal Canada's colonial mentality guarantees an Iggy victory. Simply put, the Liberal/Canadian inferiority complex means that everybody thinks Iggy is smarter than them because he went to the US and UK (even though the Libs hate the US) - so why not have Iggy as leader.

It's counter-intuitive, but this is how the Libbers think. This is reinforced by the 'success' of his 'nation' idea which proves he's not out of touch.

Harper's awesome and I'll volunteer for him again next election, but his chances of winning a majority are still slim. I predict him getting 144-154 seats next election (just shy).

Structurally his obstacles to win Canada are just too huge - the Bloc in rural Quebec with 35-45 solid seats, the Libs/NDP in TO(50)/MO(25)/VAN(10) and 20 colonial possessions in West/Northern reserves and the Atlantic and it's incredibly hard.

ace - I agree with you; the political structure of Canada and its generation-long brainwashing makes change extremely difficult.

We're brainwashed into a socialist-welfare state, uninvolved politically with the rest of the world (because the US takes care of us); uninvolved economically with the rest of the world (because the US buys all our exports) and safe, safe, from any need to put ourselves in any danger. So, we live off our earnings, don't save for the future, don't pay off our debts, don't invest. Because we are cocooned and protected.

Our bilingualism has set up a cabal bureaucracy in Ottawa, with the majority of the population having no authority in government; our allowing Quebec to have its own federal party has meant it's almost impossible for genuine federal parties to gain seats there - and our ideology of 'party-living' because we don't need to concern ourselves with adult responsibilities - it's a difficult scenario!

Desperate people do desperate things.

Also, is Warren now musing/posting ficticious emails from "friends" ?? Hard time getting his head around the huge # of Prime Minister Harper supporters ??,.. Like most Canadians, CPC, les Quebecois, Graham, Dion, Ignatief, Rae, Ducepe, Charest, McGuinty, Miller, PPG, most Media(no less!!), His caucus, his party, LPC, Bloc, hisTORY,... Anyone opposed to PMSH ?? Ah, the Trudeauites, a few elite columnists and oh ya, one, one emailer. If true. As in if # of site "visits" true.

I would like to have voted "it doesn't matter" in the poll, but the questions was "who will win"? And I am very much afraid that it will be Bob Rae. Not that I'm a fan of any of the candidates, but I'm pretty sure, when the dust settles that it will be Dipper Bob that the librano$ will try to inflict on the country.

This is just another reason why we have to work and hope for a Harper majority in the next election. After 13 years of Cretch and Dithers, we are only barely starting to enjoy some real leadership and attention to the important issues. We simply can't let the Desmarais cabal have the levers of government back.

Of course, it doesn't matter! That's what I say all the time. And I see that "It doesn't matter" is at 52%. A majority.

They could elect a duck or a cat (I think they signed up a couple of cats as members, in fact). It wouldn't make any difference. The LPC is still corrupt, crooked, cavalierly incompetent, kleptocratic, and extremely radically leftwing and will not win an election again as long as the Tories keep up the good work and keep on making Canada a better place to live using traditional, commonsense conservative principles.

I think it does matter, on certain levels.

Someone like Kennedy or a Dion wouldnt generate as much opposition within the party as a Rae or especially Ignatieff.

If it is rae or Iggy there will be a great deal of difficulty uniting that party.

In the sense of can SH beat all of them, the answer is yes. Can any of them beat him....Rae is the only one who really stands a chance....Iggy will is hand grenade without the pin...and his winnng will only confirm to him his own opinion of how right he is all the time.

IgnatIeff...putting the I in PolItIcs.

The first time I scrolled on Kate's Lib Leader poll, I thought this is a poll I won't bother with. No choices.

But awhile later I noticed.. O It doesn't matter

CLICK

It seems as if another Berlin Wall is falling.

Tom(Lloyd's brother) Axworthy says Gov't (especially Liberal ones) don't always work. Amen.

"Liberalism's dirty little secret -- It doesn't always work." Unhuh.
"(3w)".canada.com/nationalpost/news/story.html?id=6fc2eb2c-1dec-4b34-bf6d-0bf46ff41415

Tom wrote a piece for the Lib convention that a lot of clear-thinking Conservatives could adopt. Not ?? Can almost hear The Lloyd pounding his Ivory Tower desk in Wpg... "The Universe is UNraveling !!"

I was going to hit Rae due to his teflon tongue. You just, [ unlike Iggy], can not nail him on anything.

Professional interviewers try, but always they part with smiles a chuckles and nothing concrete ever said.

Then, I saw . . . Nobody cares, Bingo! = TG

Bsed on Bod Rae's indebtedness - there is no doubt who will win the Liberal race - Power Corp (as usual)

It's getting strange . They have an ndp , a hockey player and a republican running for the federal leadership of the liberals. And here in Alberta we have a liberal trying to become the next coservative leader and probably premier. whats with all this political infiltration and diguising lately?

who do you think the conservatives hope to win? i think they would like iggy over rae

On the question of who will become the next leader of the Liberal Party: I voted 'It doesn't matter', and at least for now, my thinking is reinforced by polls like the ones below, from the Toronto Sun:

2006-11-19

If a federal election were held today, which party would get your vote?

Conservatives 64%
Liberals 21%
NDP 7%
Wouldn't vote 8%

Total Votes for this Question: 6128

2006-11-23

How do you feel about the way the Conservatives are managing the Canadian economy?

Approve 63%
Disapprove 17%
Mixed feelings 21%

Total Votes for this Question: 4176

The Libranos, finally, at long last, are becoming irrelevant.

With the Same old LIbrano machine that backed former Liberal leaders behind him RAE will win.
Demarais etc. are going to pour millions into the backing of RAE and his supporters...just keep paying attention.

et call home. you post at 11:28am ---right on!

I also voted for nobody cares, but am somewhat saddened that Hedy,of cross-burning fame isn't still in it!What a loon she is,and how anyone in their right mind votes for her is beyond me.I read the Lib.leadership section of G&M on each candidate, the comments on her were hilarious, and found it odd that not 1 person made comment on Dryden.I just think he is too much of an egghead, and listening to him speak is just painful.Volpe remains as the comic relief..just can't give up the ghost!Oh yeah..they vote for him!

One wonders how much Power Corp is involved in our MSM?

Hmmmmmm - explains alot, actually.

Looking at Kate's poll this morning nearly 50% of us don't give a damn about who is running. Remove that and I think the picture is pretty clear. The Liberals have offered up candidates that are a bunch of "washed out" politicians. There is not one of them that has excited the Liberal party. Just wait until Dean get up and gives his rally call.....

I voted dosen't matter THREE TIMES! (Because you don't offer the option of tossing them all under a bus.)
