Byron York defends the Washington Post;
Today's front-page article, "Democratic Faces That Could Launch Thousands of Votes; With a Parade of Attractive Candidates, the Party May Benefit From the Politics of Beauty," which includes the passage
By a combination of luck and design, Democrats seem to be fielding an uncommonly high number of uncommonly good-looking candidates. The beauty gap between the parties, some on Capitol Hill muse, could even be a factor in who controls Congress after Election Day.
is a work of straight-down-the-middle journalism, and no one should suggest otherwise.

Whoever wrote the article clearly isn't covering the California gubernatorial race. Phil Angelides is one of the ugliest human beings ever to run for public office. That's, of course, not relevant to his fitness for office, but I'll bet that his parents had to hang a pork chop around his neck to get the family dog to play with him.
Most people (although still entraced and sucked in) are very sceptical of Hollywood/television. Who doesn't look at the TV and make snide cynical comments and claim to "know better"? A five year old.
It's a strategy of a very narrow minded frame of mind. This will backfire. Big time.
Voters don't care what a Dem looks like, they just want an end to the disasterous economics of the current administration.
Fluff pieces like this purposely dflect public attention away from the real issues on the electoral table.
It's the type od mindless diversionary fluff I'd expect from some greasy Leftoid publication...sems the roles are reversed when the GOP is sucking hind teat in the polling.
Please explain what disastrous economic policies has Bush put in place. Jobless rates are down, millions of new jobs created, the stock exchange is booming, and breaking records and the tax cuts have brought in millions of dollars and gas prices are down. Yes, housing is down, and cdn lumber sales are hurting, but could that be because there were no hurricanes devastating cities and counties.
Manufacturing jobs have been lost, but that is more the fault of greedy unions pricing themselves out of the market. I don't think there will that big a change after Nov 7. The dems had to hold on to all their seats and gain another 15 to break even. To get a 15 seat majority they have to win an additional 30, and hold on to all theirs. Not going to happen. And to top it all off, the first congressman censured for having sex with an underaged page died today, a democrat. The Foley surprise is backfiring big time. When women were interviewed today, re Foley, they said, why was it ok for clinton to HAVE SEX with an intern, and get re-elected, and not ok for Foley to NOT HAVE SEX and resign.
Just wondering, how many of those candidates are the result of botox, lyposuction, facelifts, hair implants, toupees, coloring, breast implants and other plastic surgery. One thing is for certain, their mothers did not believe in abortion.

The WPost is lax at times, yes, but remember the next time you read something in the Washington TIMES, they are ten times worse.
Reader beware. [Verify carefully before you ever quote the WTimes. = TG
If ya can't be smart, ya might as well be pretty.....just look at the money those male and female models make. "Money for nothing", I think Dire Straits said that.
maryT...don't mind Redux Bill...he pretends to be a Conservative...just like Klien is a Conservative...like all lefties, he hates to see somebody take action, instead of just mouthing platitudes.And as to you're just wondering Q, all of them. Polesi....poster brat for abortion.
