If one only read the CBC's account, you'd be led to believe that the controversial remarks of a senior Muslim cleric in Australia occurred in a vacuum;
A senior Muslim cleric in Australia apologized Thursday after he was widely condemned for recently reported comments he made about women and rape, but said he would not step down from his position.Sheik Taj Aldin al Hilali denied he was condoning rape in a sermon last month when he compared women who don't wear a headscarf to "uncovered meat," suggesting they invite sexual attack.
But Hilali apologized to any women he had offended, saying they were free to dress as they wished.
Hilali was quoted in the Australian newspaper as saying in the sermon: "If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside … without cover, and the cats come to eat it … whose fault is it, the cats' or the uncovered meat's?"
"The uncovered meat is the problem. If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred," he was quoted as saying, referring to the headdress worn by some Muslim women.
Hilali issued a statement Thursday saying The Australian had selectively quoted from the sermon, and that he was shocked at the reaction.
"I would like to unequivocally confirm that the presentation related to religious teachings on modesty and not to go to extremes in enticements," the statement said.
"This does not condone rape; I condemn rape," he said. "Women in our Australian society have the freedom and right to dress as they choose; the duty of man is to avert his glance or walk away."

It is she who takes off her clothes, shortens them, flirts, puts on make-up and powder and takes to the streets, God protect us ... then it's a look, then a smile, then a conversation ... then a date, then a meeting, then a crime, then Long Bay jail. Then you get a judge, who has no mercy, and he gives you 65 years."
The only incitement committed by 18-year-old Ms C, who was raped 25 times by up to 14 men including Skaf in 2000, was being Australian. Sitting on a train, dressed for a job interview in her best suit, and reading The Great Gatsby, she was a slut, an "Aussie pig" as they called her later, while boasting: "I'm going to f--- you Leb style."
"I looked in his eyes. I had never seen such indifference," she said.

ANDREW Bolt writes: last time I saw Pru Goward, our federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner, she wore shoes with pertly high heels.

Of course, Goward is not the only feminist to turn to mush when confronted with Islam's subjugation of women. When Britain's former Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, said this month he wanted women constituents to uncover their veils when talking to him in his office he was damned by some feminists who thought he was too . . . prescriptive.

A friend of mine is a medical doctor. He decided to take a two year contract to work at a hospital in Rhyad, Saudi Arabia a few years ago. His wife accompanied him there for the first year but there was no way she was going back for the second. In fact she left before the first year was up. She says that the disrespect for women by Saudi men is palpable. To put it bluntly, if they didn't "put out" they would see no use for them at all. It seems that the Saudi man covets western woman. My friend's wife was waiting at a bus stop one day when she noticed a Saudi male openly masterbating as he leered at her.

I am reminded of one of the first books I read on the Saudi kingdom, written back in the late 80's. The writer was one of the first western females to report (clandestinly) on the changes that oil wealth was bringing to the traditional tribal and urban cultures and who spent 3-4 years there in late 70's and early 80's.
One chapter deals with Saudi home life and makes for an eye-popping revelation. Male babies are regularily and frequently fellated from birth by any and all females in the household from youngest sister to oldest maiden aunt; this is done as a means of amusing/ pacifying/ defering to them and is a life long birth-right for the males, available on demand, and strongly entrenched in the whole society. Whether this is true only of Saudi Arabs or more widely practiced I do not know, but it would seem to explain alot about the attitute (accustomed to and reinforced from birth) of these *!@#**&!!.
I hesitate to name the book and author because it has been a while and I dont like to misattribute, but if I had to go look up my reference I would probably start with Sandra Mackay's "Inside Saudi Arabia" (??).

CBC's reporters/producers have long presented themselves to Canadians as more aware, more international, more in tune with the nuanced details of the world's cultural mosaic than defenders of Israel and western culture are; fortunately this facade is being stripped away, thread-by-thread, and we're starting to see this lipstick-covered pig underneath, as more people become aware of the CBC's practiced, thorough, institutional habit of witholding important details which don't suit their LPC masters' narrative.
Winston, at the Shotgun, recently posted a link to "Obsession" (now taken down, unfortunately), a production showcasing a highly informative series of videos which give the sort of real-world, widely-available and utterly germane context to ME/Islamist events which CBC comprehensively, pointedly avoids. One segment shows a small Palestinian girl -- perhaps five or six years old -- standing in front of her classroom describing proudly, fluently how she will martyr herself, in order to murder Jews, as soon as she is able. Her teacher sits politely, approvingly behind her, hands in her lap, in the manner of a Sunday-school teacher, then stands at the conclusion of the girl's speech to applaud here, encouraging -- unnecessarily -- those assembled to join in.
This sort of little grade-school scene isn't occuring in some out-of-the-way sect; this is the Palestinian school system. Since the dispute in the region is news, and the intractability of the conflict is news, why aren't the sociological underpinnings -- widespread, widely broadcast in the ME -- being addressed?
And on a similar note, what's the point of CBC reporting on Sheik Taj Aldin al Hilali's "apology" without noting that the apology was for having defended the gang-rape of an Australian woman by Muslim males? If al Hilali was a Republican Senator instead, do you think CBC would have excised from their coverage what he was apologizing for?

A long time ago in another life after I got back from VietNam, I had sort of a "job" that put me into very close contact with a lot of people who had connections with the regime of the Shah of Iran.
Sometimes some of these people would disappear on the weekend and we knew they weren't coming back. And we knew what intelligence services were making sure they never came back.
Anyway, I got to know some of these Iranians pretty well, and I can tell you they enjoyed seducing American women, but they really did think of them as a sort of pleasant animal.
They were attracted to what they regarded as a certain primitive depravity that they felt American women possessed.. it was an aphrodisiac for them, but they really did not see Western women as human beings in the sense that we do. They saw them as some kind of a pleasure unit or something.

I just did a quick surf to amazon.com and it's available for as little as four bucks, for a used paperback version. Based on Robert's comments and the description at amazon.com, I think I'll invest four bucks and get the book.
(One I'd recommend is "The Kingdom" by Robert Lacey. It's an early history and cultural examination of Saudi Arabia and the House of Saud, the Saudi Royal Family. Fascinating and not a bad start in reading about Saudi Arabia. I checked and it's also available at amazon.com.)

But she had every reason to express her disgust. After taking an oath on the Qur’an, the man – known only as MSK – told the court he had committed four attacks on girls as young as 13 because they had no right to say “no.” They were not covering their face or wearing a headscarf, and therefore, the rapist proclaimed: “I’m not doing anything wrong.”
MSK is already serving a 22-year jail term for leading his three younger brothers in a gang rape of two other young Sydney girls in 2002. In his own defence, he argued that his cultural background, was responsible for his crimes.
