-- the job of public editor requires me to probe and question the published work and wisdom of Times journalists, even when my constant probing and poking and prodding and questioning invariably turns out to be a monumental waste of time because the work and wisdom has already been purified though layers and layers of The Times' fail-safe editorial charcoal filtering system.
In the new print edition of Maclean's, I write about my experience at the hands of Canada's monopoly bookstore chain. Since MacKay is still depressed about losing his true love, 30 sessions of 60 whips on the buttocks may cure him of Belindaitis.
How many cdns have ordered Marks book on line or had american friends mail it to them. By not stocking the book it doesn't mean we wont read it. Censorship increases sales, and it a loss of revenue for these book stores. What if all readers who want this book boycott those chains not stocking it. Remember, for every action there is a reaction and it is usually with our wallets.
Gift certificates will not be given by me this Christmas, for those hard to buy for relatives we all have.

Look at the video at the Liberal website related to the supposed Peter MacKay comments.
Watch it without sound and keep a close eye on the MP's around Rona. Remember they aren't far from Peter's seat.
Look for the reaction's on their faces when the incident takes place (the subtitles help).
Watch for smiles, snickers, laughter, any reaction.
Then watch it with sound and listen for reaction.
With all the emotion in the house at the time, there's absolutely no reaction from the MP's to MacKay's supposed comments, Nothing.
Only one MP looks across the floor when David McGuinty makes his comment.
You be the judge. It's very telling.
I hear the Liberals are thinking of hiring Kim Jong Il to produce/direct their version of the Belinduhgate incident. It should be a doozie.

Hey Canadian readers like Adolf more than Mark Steyn!!! Maybe its the Jewish heritage name Mark?
Mark Steyn should file a discrimination suit, as Adolf is getting an unfair competitive advantage.
Maybe a name change to Mark Hilter will help his book sales!!
So Adolf can sell his books in Canada but Mark Steyn cannot?
Yep, we live in a free, democratic and LIEberal country.
Since I haven't been north of the 49th for a while I have to ask the question. Can you get any books from right-wing American authors at all? You know, like O'Reilly, Coulter, Hannity, Ingraham, et al. I realize that the CRTC would rather you watch Al-Jazeera than Fox News but I didn't think they had hit the publishing world, yet. Perhaps they could import them through that Lez Bookstore in Vancouver that is in the news a lot.

With regard to the availability of Mark Steyn's new book in Canada, I had a pleasant surprise last night when I checked in at Winnipeg's McNally Robinson bookstore in Grant Park.
I was fully expecting McNally to follow Indigo's lead as they did when refusing to carry Mr. Levant's publication including the "notorious" Danish cartoons. And I was prepared to demand an explanation from them as to why they were not carrying the book.
Instead, I was advised that they had the book, but that all available copies were on hold for other customers. They took my order and, in a week or so, well, I'll see if I can confirm this result.
Other Winnipeggers may want to check at McNally's if they are looking for "America Alone".

Will the Immans remarks finally open the eyes of all the leftistkooks, that homosexuals will be the first to go to the chopping block. Next will be the ssm laws, free speech, and all those other rights you have pushed on Canada thru challenges to the Charter. How will belomi look in a burqua, will she still appeal to Tie. Iowahawk: Ask The Aussie Imam
I don’t think Iowahawk will mind if I repost this one here, since it complements our coverage of the rape-centric ranting of Australian Mufti Sheikh Taj Din Al Hilaly so well, in that inimitable Iowahawk fashion: Ask The Aussie Imam.
Ask The Aussie Imam
Islamic Advice from Imam Yahu al-Zirius
Spiritual Leader, Fostaz al-Vegimita Mosque
Lakembabongabinga, Sydney, NSW
Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali of Mullagangabanga, NSW asks:
Some of the cobbers at my local mosque spotted some sheilas who weren’t wearing their hijabs, so they naturally had a go at raping them. For some reason the coppers loaded them off to gaol! I ask you: if you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?
This is a very interesting question. With respect to cats, the Q’ran in Surah 12:45.1(c) states that, “the cat always lands on its paws.” However, Surah 3.14e-9 says that “pita bread always lands hummus-side down.”
Of course, the crafty infidel will see this as a contradiction: what if a believer were to glue a hummus-laden pita to the back of a cat, and hurl it from the local prayer tower? No matter how it hits the ground, the crafty infidel will say it invalidates Q’ranic infallibility! This is where the meat comes in. ...-

Dalton's* 'private' hospital
Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty officially opened an "American-style," "two-tier," "private hospital" in Ottawa yesterday, the result of "secret deals".
Sorry, we couldn't resist. That's not really what happened. But we just had to throw McGuinty's hysterical election rhetoric from 2003 back in his face as he helped open the brand new Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre.
It replaces a 100-year-old facility and is, to quote the press release, "Canada's first public hospital and research institute to be designed, built, financed and maintained by (the) private sector." That's right -- it's a "P3" hospital, a "private-public partnership" of the type McGuinty was screaming would be the death of Canadian health care three short years go.
Only now, it's been redubbed "an alternative financing and procurement" project, so McGuinty can claim it's not a "P3." In any event, the profiteering private consortium (according to McGuinty's past rhetoric) built and delivered the state-of-the art, $135-million facility on budget and six weeks ahead of schedule. Briton backs imam in 'uncovered meat' row
From Bernard Lagan in Sydney
ONE of Britain’s most senior Muslims has defended as “a great scholar” the Australian imam who likened scantily clad women to uncovered meat that draws predators.
Abduljalil Sajid, a senior figure in the Muslim Council of Britain, offered support for Sheikh Taj Din al-Hilali’s views, saying that “loose women like prostitutes” encouraged men to be immoral. Dr Sajid, visiting Australia, said that Sheikh al-Hilali was attacking immodesty and loose dress, or “standing in the streets, inviting men to do these bad acts”.
Although the Australian cleric did not use the word prostitute, but appeared to be attacking women wearing revealing clothes, Dr Sajid said that the sermon had been taken out of context. Referring to the thrust of the Sheikh’s argument, he said: “So what is wrong in it? Who will object to that?” Dr Sajid, who is on a speaking tour, met the controversial Sheikh at his Sydney mosque yesterday. ...-
