Peaktalk;

So here is what I think. There is no problem in sacrificing a few Christian holidays at all, in fact this is one of the better ideas we’ve heard in a long time. But rather than replace them with Muslim holidays I would suggest replacing them with actual working days. Now that will run into some real and serious opposition in The Netherlands.

....A Mississauga City Council candidate has been charged with impersonating a police officer and intimidation after a rival candidate alleged he tried to force her and other candidates out of the race...

..."Some of the people who come here to Canada from Pakistan try to play the same games," says freelance journalist Javed Zaheer, who knows all the parties involved in the story. "This is what they know. They try to suppress the other candidates, to pressure them to sit out of the race or dig up some dirt." The Star | Gunrunner ‘merchant of death’: Crown

A children’s aid society youth worker

acted as a “merchant of death”

when she

imported firearms destined for a Toronto street gang,

and should be jailed for 10 years, a prosecutor says

More:

When she tried to cross over from Detroit on March 22, 2004, Canada Customs officers at Windsor found traces of cocaine on her driver's licence and strip-searched her. They found a note in her bra in Hudson's handwriting indicating that 17 firearms were to go to another member of the ring, and "eight to you."

The group smuggled drugs into the U.S., then used the profits to import firearms, the judge has found.

On the day of her arrest, guards at the same border stopped a car driven by a 60-year-old jazz musician and found 23 guns hidden in the trunk.

In late July, Trafford convicted Villella of 13 weapons charges, including possession of and importing firearms.

A pre-sentence report says the Grimsby woman was an A student at school, going on to earn a diploma in child and youth work at Mohawk College. ...-

The latest so called poll, we like Rae. News to most Canadians. Can almost see the strings rising up from Rae, the Canadian Media, so called pollsters, Liberal delegates.

Well we are a country where well over 20 million are christians present and if we denigrate Christmas etc to make a few minorities happy we deserve oblivion.

What right do minorities have to take away holidays from the majority. I mean what would they do in Saudi Arabia if christians said stop mentioning Ramadan, off with his head.

Canadians have no balls, well lefties anyway.

Mark Steyn takes a mild swipe at Paul Wells:

Trial delay in scandal raises concern
Case that surfaced in 2000 won't be heard until 2008
Health Canada officials punished for their roles
Oct. 18, 2006. 01:00 AM
MARIE WADDEN
Excerpt:

An opposition MP and a Crown prosecutor have expressed concerns about delays in the trial of the man at the centre of a multimillion-dollar scandal involving highly placed Health Canada officials.

Perry Fontaine, director of the Virginia Fontaine Addiction Foundation of Manitoba, was charged after media reports in 2000 of a Caribbean cruise involving Fontaine, about 70 foundation staff and Paul Cochrane, the senior Health Canada official who was responsible for funding the foundation. ...-

More: (easterndoorwebsite archives)

One campaign committee member wondered if Fontaine may have been reluctant to appear in a televised forum because of criminal charges being laid against former Assistant deputy Minister of Health Canada, Paul Francis Cochrane, who was accused of taking bribes and gifts from the director of the Virginia Fontaine Addictions Foundation in exchange for preferential funding treatment

Cochrane was named in a scandal which led to the closure of the Virginia Fontaine Treatment Center two years ago. The former federal bureaucrat was charged for accepting $50,000 from the treatment center's CEO Perry Fontaine, season tickets for the Ottawa Senators, trips, three SUVs and two income tax receipts for $5,000 each. Cochrane reportedly made no such contributions to the now-defunct treatment center.

Fontaine was on the board of directors of the Virginia Fontaine Foundation. An article which appeared in last Friday's edition of The Ottawa Citizen identified Perry Fontaine as Phil Fontaine's brother.

In a telephone interview with The Eastern Door on Wednesday, Fontaine emphatically denied any connection between news of Cochrane's charges, or relationship to Perry Fontaine. "Perry is not my brother," he said. "We're not even related - I'm not under investigation (so) it has nothing to do with me."

Jim Wastasecoot, owner-publisher of First Perspectives, a Native newspaper based in Winnipeg, supported Fontaine's denial of relationship to Perry Fontaine. Wastasecoot, who has known Fontaine for years, said point-blank, "I don't know where the reporter got his information. I've known both of those guys for years and they're not brothers. They might be distant cousins, coming from the same community, but they're not brothers."

Garth Turner is another failed leadership candidate of long ago with an axe to grind. He has fought Harper ever step of the way, and it is good riddance. Considering this decision was made by the Ont caucus members, and not the PM says his constituents are not happy with him. Will he cross the floor to what party. Harper just brought up a quote by PET re Why should I sell your wheat. Yesterday he mentioned it was a Liberal govt that put western farmers in jail for selling their own wheat. When did the liberals ever have the western farmers best interest in their program. And, it is past time for cdns to bring to attention that they only reason Quebec has all those wonderful fuzzy programs is because we, not they, are paying for them. Turn off the tap. Cdns are starting to fight back against muslims and Quebec. Should be an interesting election. How about those huge expenses run up by 4 members of the senate. One excuse stated today is it would have been very expensive to change their return tickets. This will be used by Harper in his campaign to reform the slush travel fund for these dinasours.

For those that will say we should have waited to implement the SLD, since canada again won in some case, and all the money should be returned, and we have given 1B to the US. What crystal ball are you looking in that guarantees the US would not have appealed the decision, and another 20 years would go buy, eating up the money in lawsuits.

Something so far untouched here but promising omminous effects downstream...

Working with a well educated and very bright, [newspaper reading] renovation, contracting business operator, I spoke of the ME situation and mentioned just two blog sites to look into. His response in an Email to me, and this is a man who never swears.
**
**I read some of the blogs and by the sound of it. We- are- fucked.
Religion who needs it! ** [Name withheld for obvious reasons]

So I replied . . . .
Not  necessarily.  The   most  intense  resistance  to   Al Qaeda, Hezbollah  and  the  Taliban  is  in  the  ME  itself.  They  really  know  what  fundamental  Shia  law  oppression  is.

The  Majority  of  Iranian  citizens  have  become  very  attached  to  their  modern  westernized  lifestyle.  They  severely  resent  the  oppressive  extremes  of  Ahmadinejad  and  his  Mullahs.

Iranians  dislike  the  US  because  the  US  supported   a  pompous  ass  who  hated  to  share  oil  wealth  with  his  people.
[ The Shaw ] Iranians do love their country though.

Iranians,  were  lazy  about  voting  in  their  last  election,  as  we  sometimes  are  in  Canada.  That  and  possible  fraud  is  how  *madmud*  became  leader.

Now the Iranians  just  have  to  live  with  the  consequences.

North  Korea  is  just  a  distraction  and  our  reaction  there  should  be  minimal.  The  timing  is  probably  just  a  *perfect  storm*  against  the  US  at  the  worst  of  times.

The  problem  of  today  is  that  the  public  is  largely  in  the  dark  and  so  not  inclined  to  provide  support  to  government  for the  fact  that  we  must  flood   the  Middle East  with  troops  and  equipment  to  overpower  the  immediate  Afghanistan  problem  and  then  work  back  through  Iraq ,  taking   control   and  establishing  a  widening  position  of  strength. [ Listen  to  Tony  Blair  and  Salmon  Rushdi! ]

Otherwise  Israel  will  be  the  first  domino  to  fall  and  the  Muslim  avalanche  may  be  unstoppable.

If  that  happens,  there  are  Jihadist  cells  in  Britain,  France,  Sweden,  Canada, the  USA  and  Australia  who  will  begin  massive  bombings  on  cue  to  demonstrate  the  falling  of  the  free  democratic  world.

If  the  MSM  were  to  *join  the  dots*  instead  of  just  pouring  forth  a  flood  of  disjointed  bad  news,  then  the  John Q public  would  have  a  clearer  concept  of  where  we  now  stand.

The  custom  in  all  of  North  America  is  to  withhold  the  shocking  truth, [ graphics  of  headless  men  hanging  from  a  bridge  with  dozens  of  laughing  12  year  olds  beneath],  so  that  no  one  gets  too  alarmed.   Bad  for TV  marketing  too.

Then,  when  something like  a  **Pearl  Harbour** happens.  We  get  an  *awakening*,  where  all  TV  programming  is  interrupted  for, . . . .*  A  Special  Message  from  your  President*.

Better  inform  the  masses  with  a  clear  picture  today,  before  its  too  late,  I  say.  TG

Iran cuts Internet speeds to homes, cafes

CNET ^ | 10/18/06 | CNET
Iran's Internet service providers have started reducing the speed of Internet access to homes and cafes based on new government-imposed limits, a move critics said appeared to be part of a clampdown on the media. An official said last week that ISPs were now "forbidden" by the Telecommunications Ministry from providing Internet connections faster than 128 kilobytes per second (KBps), the Islamic Republic New Agency, Iran's official news outlet, reported. ...-

Well said Kate, anyone who belongs to a political party, be it Conservative, Liberal, NDP or Green needs to respect what's said in caucus. It's one of the few times a politican can say everything they want without MSM, political spin being put on it.

If a politican wants to be able say and do anything and everything they want to, they probably shouldn't belong to polical party.

Ignatieff a principled man: Cotler

By Joel Goldenberg, The Suburban

Mount Royal MP Irwin Cotler says political leaders should be chosen based on their entire platform and not on a single statement.

Cotler was responding Monday to whether he could remain in a Liberal Party led by leadership front-runner Michael Ignatieff, in light of Ignatieff’s comments last week that Israel committed a “war crime” in its bombing of a house containing civilians in Qana, Lebanon. Israel has said the bombing, which took place during the summer, was an accident and in response to Hezbollah’s firing of rockets into Israel.

“You choose a leader based on everything you know about them, and all of their policies,” said Cotler, who supports former Ontario premier Bob Rae for the Liberal leadership. “I’ve never been a single-issue person...-
