Sweden's new Muslim immigration minister is making waves...
...arguing that all girls should be checked for evidence of female circumcision; arranged marriages should be criminalised; religious schools should receive no state funding; and immigrants should learn Swedish and find a job.Supporters of the centre-right government that came to power last month believe that her bold rejection of cultural diversity may make her a force for change across Europe. Her critics are calling her a hardliner and even an Islamophobe.
(Where have we seen that before?)
Muslim groups in Sweden are already organising a petition to have her removed from government. “I regret that Muslims feel I am a threat to them,” she said. “Everybody has a right to practise their religion, but I will never accept religious oppression. And I represent the whole of society, not just the Muslims.”Despite her ascendancy in her adopted country, Sabuni says that Sweden, where immigrants — half of them Muslims — make up nearly 12% of the population, has been only moderately successful at integration: “We have a whole underclass of people who don’t have jobs, who don’t speak the language and who are living on the fringes of society.”
Although fighting discrimination is one of her stated aims, she effectively closed down a Centre Against Racism last week by withdrawing its £400,000 state funding. By chance, the centre was run by her uncle.
“It didn’t achieve its aims,” she said bluntly. “It simply didn’t do what it set out to do, so I had to pull the plug.
Via Pieter Dorsman;
Again it is very often immigrants from outside Europe (Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Afshin Ellian) who are able to identify much better than native Europeans what is wrong and that drastic measures are needed to benefit both immigrants and their host nations. And somehow I am also beginning to sense that women are far better in delivering these blunt messages (witness Dutch immigration czar Rita Verdonk) than men.

Wow - maybe we do have something to learn from Sweden, after all. Can *we* hire this Immigration Minister??
Unfortunately, it is most likely she will not be able to accomplish much in the current climate of ethno-Euro-socialism. But baby steps are better than crawling I suppose.
Women tend to be more ruthless when they have a set goal in mind. As all men would agree: Once a woman has made up her mind, that is pretty much it.
Another nail in the coffin of multi-culturalism.
It's interesting, not only that it's women, but muslim immigrants who are clearly seeing the dangers and hypocrisy of unbridled diversity and multi-culti utopianism.
What will it take for Canada to wakeup?
Sacrificial victims slain on the alter of the religion of peace?
This is very encouraging news.We need more strong men, women and countries to stand up and be counted.
This minister seems a bit Thatcheresque and my hat is off to her.
Men see it, but as soon as they fart they are bigots. I've had calls at home threatening to cut my balls off for mere letters to the editor denouncing affirmative action.
Like the horror wanting the best person to get a job.
But at least all these people who are on welfare and can't speak the language, cause disproportionate no's of RAPES and are good at lowering house prices but lefties say they are good for the economy.

Course if western women don't want to be raped they are bigots right?
Why do these people keep coming to countries where they don't want to integrate in the least? Why don't they stay where they were, which I assume was their 'home' Muslim country? I just don't understand their reasoning for emigrating to a country, and then basically saying 'I don't want to belong to your society.'
???????
tom....
its called we are taking you over.
They don't want to belong ot our society they want ot destroy it and insert their own.
They don't want to belong ot our society they want to destroy it and insert their own.
Somebody should tell them, though, that if they do that, the welfare cheques will probably stop coming.
I love Rita Verdonk. Remember when she called that meeting with Muslim leaders, and then the leaders wouldn't shake her hand? She walked out. Meeting over.
I often wonder how Muslim males overcome that prohibition against touching women. There are a number of foreign trained Muslim doctors in Canada right now, and we have met quite a few. They're all very friendly, but they won't shake hands with the nurses or the female doctors. What do they do when they have to examine a female patient?

I think it would be very difficult to be brought up in a society that is based in the 5th century and then be inserted into ours.
If we came forward from european society of the same vintage we would be superstitious, narrowminded and oppressed/oppressive as well. the only thing I cant understand is how they missed 1500 years of advancement?
I dont blame the average muslims but the mullahs are definitely at fault.
Is covering women's faces feminism?
Rosie Dimanno, Toronto Star
Oh, this is rich: a defence of the veil as feminist prerogative. What next — promotion of the chastity belt as post-feminist birth control?.....
This really got my attention. I believe we're going to hear more about Nyamko Sabuni, who sounds like the very kind of Muslim I keep asking to hear from, as do countless others. I'll be watching with interest, as, I'm sure, will the Islamofascists.
Sounds like a possible reformer. Reform is badly needed for Islam.
I think there are some exaggerations here. Islam is a 7th century society that peaked in the 11th century so that it has been in stasus for only a thousand years.
Further to Pieter Dorsman's comment - it is not just immigrants who seem to identify Europe's problems with respect to immigrants, it seems to be female immigrants.

Careful, a lot of the extremists can't think that far ahead. If you say things like that, you will only anger them and give them another excuse to riot. :)
I greatly respect Ms Sabuni's courageous position on this matter, and I sincerely hope that other moderates rally behind her.
Jim , sorry my math is bad.
They had some mathamatical advances up until 1100 but their laws started and stopped at about 610AD, so 1400 years not 1500. their lockdown law hasnt been able to adapt to anything that we have invented , thats why car accidents are poorly dealt with. Mohammed hadnt anticipated the internal combustion engine, though he had spoke of the eternal combustion location.
They're all very friendly, but they won't shake hands with the nurses or the female doctors. What do they do when they have to examine a female patient?; Sheila G.
This country has no need of doctors like that.
I once encountered similar at my place of work when two male Muslims refused to shake the hand of one of my female co-workers.
But quick thinking saved the day! After passing her over they attempted to shake mine.
I flatly refused and said; "I will never shake the hand of a male that won't shake the hand of a female".
And yes, they were indignant.
Good for you, John! I wonder if that would work in the hospital, though. They're so desperate for doctors right now....
Actually, there are not 600,000 Muslims in Sweden. A more accurate estimate is perhaps half that, 300,000.
Certainly, Nyamko Sabuni has some good ideas, such as her emphasis on jobs and language skills. We'll see if she can make a different.
The G&M is covering the story of a senior Imam in Austrailia who has some revealing ideas about how Islam views women.
In short, women are meat. Oh yeah, if you don't package the meat properly, you can't really expect it not to be raped... uh, well, that is to say... spoiled.
John P
bet you would'nt say that to an orthodox Jew who refused to shake a woman's hand would you? Or to a Hindu priest who does'nt let women come within 10 feet of him?Guess your hatred and prejudice is directed only against Muslims. You and the rest of the lot must be really frustrated that Canada is no more the lily white country of your dreams.Wake up and smell the coffee you bigots; you guys are part of a dwindling minority.
