Now, I could be wrong, but the thing that I have always seen as the most damaging thing about the Bias in the mainstream media was not that they put a tilt on the stories they told, but was the stories they created. Time and time again I have watched reporters ask Reform/Alliance/Conservatives loaded questions (similar to “Have you stopped beating your wife?”) and then examine their answers under a microscope; meanwhile all you really have to do to get a high level NDP member to spout incoherent (and possibly bigoted) gibberish is to ask them why they support their issue of the month.

Gil Warren's behavior is revolting, yes. But, it should not at all seem surprising to anyone. This is completely in line with union/leftist idealogy. I am not trying to be cynical or flippant when I say that. They are statists. Remember the definition from the National Post? A statist believes that walking on the grass should never be simply permitted, it must either be mandatory or forbidden.

Him making whacky accusations about being a spy for CSIS or the Conservatives is also right in line with their way of thinking. Remember: a left-winger believes that, in any relationship / interaction between two people, one is the Controller and the other is the Controllee. A private citizen acting of their own free will is an impossible thought for them. You must always be acting because either your Controller told you to or because you are seeking to expand your position as a Controller over others. In Warren's warped mind, he was standing up to either an enemy Controller (or the agent of an enemy Controller) by trying to become the Controller of the situation itself. It made him feel heroic.

That's the reason behind the disconnect between libertarians and leftist nut-jobs. We can never have an honest dialogue because we can never find basic common ground on which to start. i.e. We can't even agree that two people with opposing views got started forming their views based on taking an honest look at a situation. Leftists always start out by first being told what to think by a Controller. They assume it is the same for everyone. We, on the right, suffer from our own brand of confusion by not being able to figure out what is wrong with these left-leaning people. But, that's because we want to assume that each of them (like us) arrived at their own views by starting off as an independent thinker. Both we and they are wrong in our initial assumptions about the other.

By the way, I'm worried that that is our Achilles' Heal. We don't seek to control or shape political views by force - but they do...and because the bulk of the public is content to follow, their strong-arm tactics may crowd us out soon.

I shudder to think that such people have power! If they are ever control government, I think I'll lose control of my sanity. I'm reminded of old person saying to me that , that if you can't beat the enemy take as many of them with you as you can. He fought for freedom in WW2 against fascists, they won.
