You've got to scroll down a long way to find the photos. At first, I thought "The Ten Best Ghost Photographs Ever Taken" were a joke, and that the long, black expanse of nothing...ha, ha...was because there were NO PHOTOS of ghosts.
Not so.
And it is odd that most of the good ones are British...
Not quite a ghost story, but years ago, when my sister and I were in our teens, our mother who was having a bath, called to us. There was an urgency in her voice and when we entered the bathroom, all steamed up because of the hot water in the bathtub, she asked us, "What do you see in the mirror?"
Simultaneously, we said, "A skull." There was definitely a clearly discernable skull shape, with hollow eye cavities, in/on the mirror. Unfortunately, it so unnerved me that I wiped the mirror clean. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if I hadn't done that.
An hour later, my mother got a call from a very dear friend to say that her mother--a favourite of our family--had died just a few hours before.
Although a lot of those pictures could have been faked by a real good darkroom tech (pre-Photoshop), the circumstances surrounding the events tend to elliminate trickery. I have also been around long enough to know that there are a lot of things that defy logic and explanation.
I am not one to totally believe in ghost busters but I don't dismis it either. They certainly make for good stories though.
My wife's step mother, and her dad were resting in seperate rooms. She arose and came to see my wife's dad and said that her daughter had just walked thru the room and beckoned to her.A daughter that lived in Amarillo Texas.A short while later she received word that the daughter had just been killed in a car accident in Amarillo.
I'm now starting to feel a touch of guilt. I just requested my wife to help me spot the differences in the pics. Always up for a challenge, she sat down, leaned well into the screen, and just as she thought she had spotted two of the subtle differences, well...you know the rest.
I think she's mad at me...I'll be able to confirm that when she emerges from the coma...
My grandmother's tiny house was rife with paranormal activity - and I'm not talking about feelings of dread or cold spots. It was a full-blown haunting.
The most common occurance involved a pair of shoes walking down the staircase on their own and stopping at the threshold to the livingroom. The shoes belonged to my uncle; a member of the crew of a WWII Halifax Bomber that was shot down over Metz, France in 1944.
I don't think Henry was trying to scare people - just get their attention. Obviously, this soul was not at rest.
Other disturbances included slaming doors, shaking the bed in the guest room, and yanking the chain on the overhead reading light turning it on and off repeatedly.
Most members of my father's family had experienced disturbing and unexplainable events at her home. These are not superstitious people.
Most likely, every person will experience something paranormal at least once in his life.
I didn't use to believe in ghosts either. Until I and my (now-ex) wife bought a house with a ... presence.
I, my now-ex wife and her sister all heard the same voice on different occasions during the night. It was a baritone male voice coming from the direction of the living room. Always it seemed the words he was speaking were slightly indiscernible, just out of earshot.
Some time later, after my divorce, a female house guest actually had this presence visit her in her guest bedroom during the night. It visibly manifested itself over her, as she lay in bed, wanting to know what she was doing there. The presence was for a couple of minutes, she told me in the morning.
Mind you, all of us are intelligent, educated people, not given to any sort of extreme beliefs. I'm now an EX-skeptic.
Maybe Mr. Knight at the linked page has it when he says perhaps these ... presences are some sort of quantum resonance from the past. Maybe someday science will be able to explain them. But as I said, I'm now an ex-skeptic.
Bruce, You got me too! And the volume was up, man I jumped. Happy Halloween to everyone. I have had some experiences! First there was my friend baby that passed away with SIDS. I stayed at their home while I was in town for the funeral. In the evening over the dishwasher running, you could hear faintly a baby crying. It was weird, but calming. Later I was told that it was the baby spirit letting the parents know that it was alright. Another was at a friends memorial service which was held at a flight field. This was a man that had the great love of flying. When his best friend started talking about this, behind him may ten feet, 100 or more birds that were quietly resting in the grass, took off and flew maybe 5 feet above all of our heads. There was such a breeze that just went right through you. I knew he was in a better place flying.
A numer of years ago just a few months after my grandpa pasted away a old rocking chair he once owned started rocking by itself and we have a local cematary in which persons haved seen strange lights in it at night and i myself would ever go into a cematary at night
Why this blog? Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media

have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice
of an ordinary Canadian
yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Camera on a tripod.
Slight underexposure of the area.
Without advancing the film reset the shutter.
Moderate underexposure of a friend slowly moving through the area.
Bingo...Your first ghost picture.
Given that the topic is photos of a ghostly nature, some might be interested in viewing these photos
Try to spot the three differences between the two shots
Hey Bruce,
That was great!
I really liked the image of Harper at the end.
Too funny.
Bruce, you owe me a new pair of shorts! I did see the stereoscopic effect though.

Hey Bruce!
Good thing I'm going to the gym a few times a week: I nearly had a heart attack... ;-)
I have seen pictures of ghosts in books and on TV a lot

Read, learn, and think. Democracy will not succeed if we are a bunch of uneducated superstitious ninnies.
