Biased Reporting?

Or bad grammar? You be the judge.

(The same headline airbrushing took place at CTV.ca, first brought to our attention by a sharp eyed reader.)

It's not surprising to see. It's a good ploy to trick the headline scanners into getting the wrong impression about Harper.

Only if you read the article would see that Harper was responding to Anti-Israeli sentiments expressed by Ignatieff and Ignatieff is sanctimoniously lashing back to cover his own comments.

The preferred reading would be that Harper is an anti-semite and Ignatieff is the white knight riding in on his horse to rescue Jews everywhere.

A nasty trick that thankfully a lot of people are onto now.

Outing this kind of journalism would never seen the light of day prior to the internet and blogs.
It's worth stating clearly and repeating endlessly, the corruption that embodied decades of liberal government malfeasance could only have taken place with the enabling of a willfully blind mainstream Canadian media.
It's not able to hoodwink the public today with slick twisted headlines or manipulated videos as Lawand did for CBC.
The blogging community is taking away their ability to twist news into opinion.
And not a day too soon either!

Hardly a typo. Even the elevator video screen "news service" in my building showed an intentionally shortened headline that said Liberal leadership candidates were furious over Harper's "Anti-Israel" comments. Other news messages were much longer so more accurate wording could have been used. It was displayed often enough that I saw it every time I took the elevator yesterday.

If people riding the elevator don't care to know the blatently obvious facts (i.e. most people, especially the young), the conclusion they'd make is Harper is the one that's anti-Isreali.

Instead Harper's comments are nothing more than anti-Liberal party (what a surprise for a CPC Prime Minister). His clear support of Israel during this summer's war with Hezbollah is causing divisions within the Liberal party. Those divisions are a Liberal Party problem and not a CPC problem...or anyone else's for that matter.

However, since MSM is blatently Liberal Party biased it's no small wonder why they're trying to blow this up to make this issue Canada's problem.

I nominate CAL2 to immediately assume the chair of the CBC. Time to cleanup MSM in Canada and let's start with the one that gets most of our tax dollars!

Poll Result

Stephen Harper said most Liberal leadership candidates were 'anti-Israel.' What do you think of this?

and gap widens....

Opportunity to obsure; Driven to distort.

It isn't bad grammar, it is, among other thing, bad manners. The rule of the lede is to find something that bleeds. So it is a given that he lede must be a pure suspension of disbelief.

Let's face it, the Liberal race is a yawner and the PM is throwing the Liberals a bone.

Ignatieff is a bore. For far too long his been held in esteem by just the kind of people that just don't matter. Who really cares of his oft contrarian views, calculated for maximum effect, mainly distilled for the collegiate set.

The fact that the Liberal Party deems him worthy of 30% of delegates says much more of their desperation.

They are, of course, the same folks who crowned a "never was" Leader. The PMPM debacle will stand as testimony to a nearly vacuous middle to left of centre rump of hacks, syncophants and political amateurs who had been sustained off the public teat in a sea of self-absorbed dhimmis.

My first instinct is to blame very poor grammar, really.

That's not an excuse, btw -- it's a grammar error that destroys the truth of the story, and the person who wrote it should be given one of those "three strikes you're out" written warnings, or even fired. That kind of error demonstrates incompetence.

CTV has as many axe-grinding Liberal scat surfers grinding away in its bowels as Mother corps.

I live for the day when Rex Murphy slaps Craig Oliver across his yap on sunday question period. ;-)

Perhaps a tip of the hat is due to the blog "Proud to Be Canadian".

No, no, NO!

The misleading headlines, the twisting of factual events, the continual spin that PMSH has a hidden agenda, are a deliberate, conscious attempt to get the Liberals back into power. Anyone willing to believe otherwise, to give the rascals the benefit of the doubt, to believe that somehow there is an ounce of truth to the innuendo continually spewed propaganda from the CBC, CTV, the G&M and especially the Red Star, is naive to the extreme.

Let's not forget that the Ceeb actually fought long and hard to retain that anti-semite Neil MacDonald in the Middle East desk, even after hundreds of verified complaints that proved his hatred of Israel. During the election, the well-chosen 'Harper HEIL' headline exposed their bias, and their continual undermining of every positive coming out from this government, and deliberate smears (think Christina Lawand & her producer), prove the MSM's bias.

I had a long chat with Jonathan Whitten, executive producer of the National, and the desperation he showed in being caught in his little 'typo' of linking Stephen Harper with Hitler was all too evident. The arrogance of these parasites knows no bounds, as they fervently believe that only THEIR spin on news is reportable, and we as Canadians are going to believe what THEY want us to believe, as we are too stupid to have a valid opinion. Mr. Whitten was apologetic for Mr. MacDonald's views and offered his opinion that the Ceeb was balanced because they had Rex Murphy on the payroll. I got the distinct impression that the brain trust at this nationally-funded indoctrination network is convinced that since they pay Mr. Murphy for his weekly witticisms, they are free to lie, twist and distort everything else and claim balance.

This happened in January, BTW, and I recall that it was the same day that I called my sat provider and ordered Fox News. And I have not watched the CBC, CTV or BBC since. Everyone should do it...absolutely, positively, liberating!

Definitely. Joel did a great job on this story.

Headline should read;

SMALL DEAD ANIMALS RUN OVER CTV

I believe we are seeing history. We eally are. The Media have lost their most potent weapon. For centuries they have had control because how could the common citizen check the accuracy of a story, unless it was next door. Now, with the Internet and blogs (and their commenters) it is not only possible, it is instantaneous.

Just imagine. I am no wizard, just a mere Canuck, but daily I can easily, quickly, convieniently and accuratly(W/O spin) read/watch/listen to the world's news without bowing to the Media. For the first time in history a citizen does not have to rely on 2 or 3 MSM outlets for "news". One can take in there presentation AND seek out information on dozens of other sites too. Shop around and compare !! The first time in history !! When talking to/visiting with others it is so easy pick out the ones who get their "news" from TV/print. They can only repeat the spin.

I am however, very worried that Mo and the UN will someday "regulate" the Internet under the guise of "protecting" us.

CTV types want those Senate seats and see the Liberal Parasites of Toronto as their only way of getting them.

It was a typo in the same way that the X over Cheney's face on CNN was a graphical glitch.

As I've said before, Canada is once again being run by a familly compact. Mostly Desmarais but others as well.

They are determined to do everything they can to keep the Conservatives a) out of power or b) with a minority. A COnservative majority will be the equivalent of an insurrection as far as they are concerned.

Wimp Can, you are absolutely correct. The last four (PT, BM, JC, PM) have been puppets. Almost four frigg'in decades !!! It is not a stretch to say that Canada's Democracy was/is in jepardy.

Jane Tabor was pitiful on Question Period yesterday. She hissed at Rona Ambrose, she infurred that Tim Powers was a Zombie - like Stephen Harper; both inferences tied indirectly to Zombie by the fact that she mentioned that the book the Prime Minister was reading to his daughter's classroom was called "Zombies" not less than three times - blushing, gushing and giggling like a pre teen each time (does Jane have a major 'crush' on Mrs. Harper's husband? No worries for Mrs. Harper BTW). Then Janie and Craigo 'weighed in' on the 'damage' Eggyhead had done to himself by being, of all things, naive!! Great Balls of Fire - how old is Eggyhead? MI is a journalist and well traveled, I think he is having difficulty verbalizing what 'others' say that he should say he thinks with what he really thinks!! Unlike Bob Ray he is not a hothouse socialist with both eyes affixed on absolute power. Ray brought Ont. to it's knees in four short years, if Bob wins and then wins an election, it will not be difficult to bring all of Canada to it's knees too. I hope Mike Iggentiff kept his 'day job' because I have the feeling he is being set up for the ballyhoo 'victory' of 'their boy Bob'.
Our Prime Minister PMSH, like Sir Winston Churchill, just stated the facts.
As for the UN controlling the internet, I believe that the left wants to do that but as long as Mr. Bolton stands in their way, there is no hope for them. The msm is doomed to being watched and the left don't like being mentally exposed - BTW have any msm posted pictures of the Ray/Mercer literal 'exposure'? It was a 60 type prank by the hippy type mindset of a 60 year old teenage wannabe IMO.

Hoax Aware: Shhhhhhhh!!! Don't give Mo any ideas...

'Not even a typo. Just plain old partisan, biased reporting crap, BIG-TIME, the same old partisan, biased reporting crap that Canadians are now standing up to and saying, "I'm mad as H*ll and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

Yea us!! It IS liberating to see that my views of over 25 years are shared with countless others. Who would have known? Somehow, I just knew that there were "right" thinking Canadians out there, it was just a matter of FINDING them.

Thanks, Kate, thanks Proud to be Canadian, etc. for helping us link up.

How much of this is known in the free countries of the West? The information is to be found in the daily papers. We are informed about everything. We know nothing.
-SAUL BELLOW, To Jerusalem and Back

To know only what those in authority allow one to know is, more or less, all the infant can do.

To be able to make one's own observations and to draw pertinent conclusions from them is where independent existence begins.

To forbid oneself to make observations, and take only the observations of others in their stead, is relegating to nonuse one's own powers of reasoning, and the even more basic power of perception.

Not observing where it counts most, not knowing where one wants so much to know, all this is most destructive to the functioning of one's personality. . . .

But if one gives up observing, reacting, and taking action, one gives up living one's own life.

And this is exactly what the SS wanted to happen. ...-

maz2, as you seem to be wise in the ways of posting links (is that URLs? I am a total Luddite and it's a minor miracle that I use this computer at all), how do you do it without being filtered?

Every time I put a link like yours, I'm zapped. Do you have to leave off the first few letters, or what?

I am: A damsel in distress. Can you help me?

Jema54,

Jane Taber was hilarious when I last saw Mike Duffy Live. Kept referring to Qana as "that village in Lebanon". You really have to wonder about the journalistic competence of someone who doesn't even bother to find out the name of the village that the main story of the week is about.

Iggy may just as well get his return ticket from Jerusalem changed to Belize and get a retirement condo there.

Currency is the Canadian dollar last time I looked.

Doubtful that he will be running much in Canada. = TG

Marshall MacLuhan in fact deserves the tip of the hat here for telling (foretelling?) us of the potency of the media. we are now officially a global village; anything anywhere can be known anywhere in a matter of hours and most assuredly days; it wasnt even like that in a single neighborhood decades ago.

and as far as the internet being censored, well, the horse is out of the corral on that one; we now know tknx to Kate et al time and attention that, horror of horrors, we've been LIED TO all these years..... so even if things go back to the 'old ways' the trust is gone. at that point we may as well buy the supermarket tabloids instead for the humour factor.

well, I use sympatico DSL, so I just 'screen captured' the 'screen capture' which I am going to forward to the sympatico folks and demand an explanation why they feel the need to enter the political arena with a big fat LIE.

Att: 'been around the block.

Notice the "3w".....

Picked this up from a post here by, IIRC, er, somebody.

c/p the URL from the source into your post-a-comment. Change www. to 3w.... in your comment; Preview. Post, and presto; the filter allowed it through immediately.

From the posted comment, c/p the URL into your browser window. Change the 3w. to www.... Enter.

Let's see if it works in Mozilla. ... Yes.

Mozilla sends it to Google/link appears. Click on Google link and it worked. The wonder of the 'net.

Trust this is correct.

We should expect nothing less from the MSM. They have 2 goals, and only 2 :

1) Subvert all traditional values.

2) Bow down to Islam.

That's there spiel in a nutshell.

I'll try your little trick (I knew there had to be one!) next time.

Why?

Military releases names of soldiers killed in Afghanistan Saturday
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (CP) -

CNNs Reliable Sources this am. Topic-how the msm is losing viewers and readers. How Blogs eg Drudge Report is responsible for this.
All the talking heads agreed that the msm is not as relevant as it once was. CNN also mentioned that 2 cdn soldiers were killed yesterday. At least now Canada is being mentioned on US stations instead of 2 members of NATO.
