As the manufactured outrage of Belindogate enters its second week, one suspects there may be motivation to this diversionary madness.
(8) BE IT RESOLVED that the Liberal Party of Canada recognizes the Quebec nation within Canada
Can't blame a person for wondering, eh?
Stephen Taylor has the numbers.

The link seems to be dead.
The g&m has an article on this, with comments running in favor of it. Where do we vote to kick Que out of Canada.
I'll see your conspiracy theory and raise you a pound of tinfoil: I think David McGuinty baited Mackay on purpose in order to take heat off Belinda's extracurricular activities. They knew Mackay would bite, and that the Liberal friendly Canadian Press would run with it.
The dead link can be resurrected by erasing the last "l" in ".htmll" so that it reads ".html".
Got it fixed. Thanks!
The Gomery thing again. News about Brault serving 1/6 of his sentence and new charges for both Brault and Lafleur.
A commons domestic spat about a dog not sitting in an empty chair is a weak diversion, but the still leftist MSM focus away from Adscam is unmistakable. = TG
The new Sponsorship charges . . .

Where was Iggy last we tried to tinker with the constittion last tme? Personally I think seperatists will try to highjack the whole process and force things TROC won't accept thus stirring up the seperatist pot.
The are setting up another rip off. PetersDogBelinda has been "news" for a week now. It makes my buttocks clench.
Oh, but Quebec is a "nation" within Canada. Only I think they misspelled it, it's supposed to be written "province". As if this semantic wave of the hand is going to do or change anything.
But I'm sure the libs will find someone to fund for millions to make sure that we accept the new naming strategy. Maybe a big ad campaign. Heck if it cost Ontario 6+ million to drop the C in the OLGC, hopefully this change will only cost 36 million (6 million per letter... maybe we can make a deal since province already has an i,o, and n).
Canadians are now set up and dumbed down by the Liberal media.
Be it resolved, that Mark Steyns' books are UNAVAILABLE in Canadian bookstores.
IMHO this should be a huge issue for all Canadians, from the dippers to the Libs to the PC's. But then I give my head a shake. IIRC, it was the Libs and Heritage Minister Sheila Copps who drafted the legislation that has helped to protect Canadians from Mr. Marks Steyns' books being sold in Canada. Canadians also are not subjected to any of the ideas in Mr. Bill O'Reillys' books or Mr. William Buckleys' books or books by any number of other Conservative best sellers when they shop at their local malls. The Liberal book Nazi's justify anti-Americanism in many, many ways but Mr. Steyn is Canadian. So I conclude that it must be his ideas that are not to be allowed into Canadian malls.
Be it resolved that Coles shall feature Bill Clintons' and Jane Fondas' autobiographys for months and months and months if not years and years and years./sarc
Distraction is par for the course for the Liberal Party.
You have to use distraction and misdirection when you have nothing relevant to say.
I guess all those years of experience with the sposorship program have finally paid off.
Around the same time, the national executive of the Liberal Party of Canada - aka Canada’s biggest criminal organization (tm) – paid off the Quebec wing’s $1.9 million debt.
Hmmmm. Money going from ROC to Quebec ... shurely this setting some kind of precedent!
Sounds good, the PROUD Nation of Quebec taking handouts from the country Canada, they'll become have not Nation instead of a have not province.
Recall a recent remark by Lucien Bouchard, their failed Saviour, 'Quebecers don't work hard enough".
What a bunch of idiots.
Diversion is always at play in the Liberano mob. They would rather engage in piffle.
One way to stop this crap and that is VOTE IN A MAJORITY CONSERVATIVE GOVERNMENT.
Chris
How cynical you are!
I love it!
LOL
Anyone got the liberals e-mail in Ottawa. Time to flood all cbc sites and liberal sites with e-mails telling them that the daltondoggate is not flying in the ROC, and we know it is a diversion from-fill in the blanks.
Not only this Quebec thing, but the Liberals are also to blame in large part for watering down Bill C-9, the Conservatives tough-on-crime bill. This bill was supported by a large number of Canadians who were sick and tired of criminals having more rights than victims. Belindogate is more important to the Liberals than getting tough on crime. Now the bill does not nearly have enough teeth, thanks to the libs.
Duceppe is threatening to bring the govt down if the fiscal imbalance is not fixed NOW. PM Harper should tell him that, because the liberals are voting in Dec to make que a separate nation, and should it pass, we will wait for the constitution to be ammended to include same. As we think that it will fail, and the vote will be to kick que out of canada, we see no reason to fund a province intent on breaking up our country. The next time que has a referendum they will not get support from the rest of us to stay. We will be organizing demonstrations to kick them out. Both que and the muslims have taken us for granted too long. Time to fight back, big time.
Just to set the record straight:
There are far worse things in life than being compared to a dog. Most dogs are admirable creatures - friendly, curious, loving, protective, and loyal to a fault.
These are all traits that few people can claim on a consistent basis.
Something is going on in Ottawa. Libs are planning on supporting 1/2 of the justice bills, and saying this is not electioneering. Harper said that the opposition will have to face the cdn people re their breaking promises about getting tough on crime. The libs are also trying to bring back Kyoto. I suspect Harper will call an election, possibly before the leadership vote.
Some femlib just stated only 1 in 3 voted for this govt, but failed to mention less than that voted for them.
The libs are stalling for time till they get their dorks in a row.
as for PMSH
If he calls an election they will whine that they werent ready.
If he tries to get any charges put through on the Gomery inquiry it will be called electionering.
If he calls Paris Stronach a dog it will be called news.
but whatever happens, the next election will be the keystone.
Its up to Ontario, do they want to be wed to the old doll in the facepaint and frayed hair or do they want to look west to the bright future. because if the libs get in again the west will be out and ontario will be supporting the old nation of quebec by itself.
I would like to know where the Lib candidates stand on equalization.
This is more important than the other issues that they have been discussing.
I am afraid the Libs are going to get back in power.
If Alberta ever decides to separate; it won't fool around like Quebec.

And based on the Lib and Dipper shenanigans in the House and out, I think we can safely ascribe to dogs a superior moral sense and character as well.
This may seem like excessive praise for canines coming from this "fat cat", but true nevertheless.
this quebec 'nation' thing is all well and good for them, but it would prove interesting when the inuit of northern end of the province, er, 'nation' do a tit for tat and split away from the 'nation' of quebec the next day.
and the day after that, REJOIN the rest of canada after holding out for their ransom demands.
concrete: I used to watch mr buckley on the pbs, very interesting concise commentary.
politics sure do make strange bedfellows.
stranach doesnt have the looks or street smarts to even be a decent hooker.
qwerty: Your right, the Inuit would be among their first problems.
The US - [CIA] would be their first problem looking out for their power supply and their shipping lifelines, [ Saint Lawrence Seaway].
Quebec is a basket case financially. How can they pay us out for our Federal assets in Quebec?
Seperatism, dream on. It*s just a handy ploy for dozens of reasons.
Working towards a Conservative majority. = TG
Quebec 'separation': another permanent make-work project for LAWYERS!
Someone had it absolutley right earlier. Why should billions of dollars be given to Quebec when they have a Provincial Government that is already committed to calling yet ANOTHER referendum anyway as soon as they think conditions are favourable to them?
If the citizens of that Province want to elect a federalist government, fine. But NOT while they have a Government that has a mandate to break up Canada and hold the rest of Canada ransom until they do.
And this notion of Quebec being a "nation" is pure garbage. They are NOT a nation, they are a province that is already IN a nation. Should BC the East Indian or Chinese community in BC be able to declare a "nation" and seperate? Un uh, I don't think so. And furthermore, this idea of theirs that Quebec is not divisble while Canada can be and the idea of soverignty association is total hypocritical hogwash.
I'm sick and tired of seperatists and their whining, idiotic rhetoric. I really am. I'm at the point now where I want to say "fine, f*** off you bunch of eternal ingrates and seperate, just so we don't have to suffer you any more".
maryT:
"Both que and the muslims have taken us for granted too long. Time to fight back, big time."
You may have some issues you need to deal with.
And for the record, I don't think Muslims had been mentioned once in this thread. Interesting that you felt the need to bring that into the discussion though.
The Liberals are playing an incredibly dangerous game, whipping up then pandering to Quebec sovereigntists while using them to blackmail the rest of the country and trying to appear like the lion-tamer who has this all under control -- the way Mulroney did with the Meech Lake fiasco. Ignatieff is looking like a naive or highly cynical fool (hard to tell which) with the situational awareness of a jelly-fish. Meanwhile Dion is beginning to look more like the wise statesman on this issue. I agree with everything he said in opposition to this resolution. The extent to which the Liberals are willing to sow division within the country in the cynical pursuit of power defies belief.
And the MSM like the "referee" in WWE wrestling, once again missed the whole thing.
I say we let Quebec separate, but only on the condition that they take all Liberals with them.
Interesting discussion last night, with Chantel and 2 others. All said this motion will probably pass, and will cause many problems. If it fails they said the liberals are dead in the water (words to that effect) in Quebec. Quebec as a nation might just be words, with no special rights, to get cdns to support it, but think of future govts and what they would do. Think of the abuses of the Charter.
The Nation within a Nation is suicide and is completely rejected by thinking Canadians.
Look what it did for Iraq.
Pakistan is a clearer example with the Whizzer-stan province turned over to the Taliban.
Canadians are not seeking that *interesting* lifestyle.
Quebec sepratists can be very seperate by moving to St. Pierre de Miquloin off our east coast.
Working towards a Conservative majority. = TG
Quebec a Nation within Canada? Is this just the same as being a province, but doing what it damned well wants and still be have-not slags? Bouchard said recently Quebecers don't work hard enough.
By what writ and Constitutional tinkering is Professor Ignatieff going to bring it about?
Is Jacques Parrizeau going to draw up the plot?
It's getting more bizarre and convoluted by the day.
