Wake Island

The Japanese abused everyone that they defeated in the Asian Pacific Region, including Canadians in Hong Kong.

A Monctonian(a Hong Kong Veteran) here in New Brunswick, used to recount how when they were taken prisoner, a Japanese Officer spoke to them in perfect English which he had learned in a University in Canada.

He told the Canadians that he would only speak in English to them one time, and that from that time forward they would speak Japanese or be killed. A Canadian immediately questioned him about his assertion, and was shot dead, in the head.

Our Monctonian spent time in several internment camps suffering constant starvation and torture. He eventually ended up in Japan where he escaped just after the USA nuked Nagasaki. He was freed by the Americans in Tokyo.

As far as the Pacific War goes, Iwo Jimo was the Americans Vimy Ridge. A savage battle to the death.

That is why when 9:11 happened I just shook my head wondering how any people upon this Earth would be stupid enough to infuriate the American people.

An amazing read, Kate. It is just unbelievable how some can be so cruel to other people. All it takes is the right circumstances and the mean spirited will come forward. If we allow it, it will happen again. We owe so much to our soldiers, past and present.

Speaking of ticking off the American people, this reminds me of the MSM's favourite story about how the USA is favoring Israel over Lebanon and H'Bollah during the current conflict. Apparently, without reason.

Hmmm, I wonder if it has anything to do with H'Bollah blowing up more than 200 USA marines in their barracks when they were in Lebanon as peace keepers in the 1980's? Ya think?

..And it was wrong to have signed off with the Japanese in regards to compensation for the Veterans imprisoned by the Japanese.The Japanese never admit culpability,thus avoiding the perpetual cycle of guilt and payment in perpetuity the Germans face.

IIRC, thousands of enlisted were cut off and left in the South Pacific after the American Fleet was destroyed at Pearl Harbor. They endured horrific atrocities in the hands of the Japanese Army.

It was a WAKE ISLAND is where JAPAN would lose its first two warships to MARINE GUNFIRE the artilary sank two of their warships

If Wake island is submerged it will {hopefully} drown a lot of the snakes and other horrible creatures on it. I can't help but wonder about the spread of disease through out the region?

Thailand, India, Indonesia, Europe, USA, Canada and points in between have seen floods, tornados, drought, melting, high winds, all the likes of never seen until a few years back.
Just wondering, how come?
