In the end, not true Cardston. I'm sure that Stephen's 1937 quote is correct, but when the showdown finally came in 1939 Tommy stood in the right place. You can probably find the story in the Western Standard article about Tommy from a couple months ago. The lone CCF holdout in 1939 was Woodsworth.

On the other hand, John Palubiski at 2:29 pm. may be overstating the case for Tommy a little bit, but it's very likely true that Tommy would not recognize "today's NDP". Tommy may have been a prairie populist left-winger, but he was no cultural marxist like TalJack.
