after I lived four years in a very remote, no raod access aboriginal village, I left totally convinced that DNA/I&NA whatever the call themselves combined with all the socialist victim schooling that was flooding the people's minds had produced a social model that was 100% sure to fail but leave the door open to blame whitey.
Thank gawd there are now at least a few aboriginal bands & leaders that have the guts to stand up and work hard for their own prosperity instead of waiting for more handouts like Kelowna.
Aboriginal welfare, so beloved by our wingnut lefties is benign, let's be nice so nobody can accuse of of being racist genocide.
Canada needs to clone this guy.
And his mother . . she sounds tougher than he does
Sorry for the quick comment but I got called away to work (imagine that).
Anyhow, Chief Louis is proof positive that you are what you make of yourself. First Nations are the same as everyone else and should be treated as such. Department of Indian Affairs should be chopped down to a couple of desks at Cultural Affairs to record and preserve the history of the culture. A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian. No hyphens and no special status.
Osoyoos sounds like a nice place to set up house. The neighbours seem to be hard working productive folks. So now if they could do something about those wingnuts in Victoria...
This guy should have Phil Fontain's job. Or be the next prime minister. If every chief in the country was like him there would be no Indian Affairs dept. Now, will the rest of them learn from him????
There are lots more "Louie" types out here. PMSH needs this guy in Cabinet !! Canada needs more walk-the-walk types. Talk-the-talkers in the Liberal Party, Environment Canada, NGOs, CBC, MSM, Activists, UN have done enough damage.
September 22, 2006 - Here are the first Libeal leadership delegate results published anywhere (well, at least that I have seen thus far).
The Aboriginal People's Commission here in British Columbia had 43 spots up for grabs, and here is the breakdown: 12 Bob Rae delegates, 11 Michael Ignatieff delegates,... (blahblahblah...

Texas Canuck Well said! BC is just full of these chiefs, we have gave them land, the money, now the power (self government). Just think, there is only 630 reserves across Canada. What was the line? Something like Absolute money, absolute power, absolute corruption. One of my native elder friends said "What the federal government has created here is an Indian moffia." These guys are in it for the money and the power, period. Sure not for their people or the culture.
There are lots of Louis' out there, trouble is they don't get very far. I am thinking of Leon O'Conner, an Alliance cand. during the 2000 fed camp. He had some excellent ideas incl. cleaning out IA. His and his famile's lives were threatened, his house was fire bombed, etc.
It's a real shame when there is a better way and those willing to lead, but no-one willing to follow, pitch in and in fact; buck change all the way.
Why this blog? Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice
of an ordinary Canadian
yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."
homepage email Kate (goes to a private
mailserver in Europe)
I can't answer or use every
tip, but all are
appreciated!
"I got so much traffic afteryour post my web host asked meto buy a larger traffic allowance."Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you
send someone traffic,
you send someone TRAFFIC.
My hosting provider thought
I was being DDoSed. -

"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generatedone-fifth of the trafficI normally get from a linkfrom Small Dead Animals."Kathy Shaidle
"Thank you for your link. A wave ofyour Canadian readers came to my blog! Really impressive."Juan Giner -

I got links from the Weekly Standard,Hot Air and Instapundit yesterday - but SDA was running at least equal to those in visitors clicking through to my blog.Jeff Dobbs
"You may be anasty right winger, but you're not nastyall the time!"Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collectingyour welfare livelihood."Michael E. Zilkowsky
Wow. picking up jaw from floor.

Id like to shake this guys hand, Im sure he would be real.
Im used to seeing the "traditional handshake"
palms up.
Holy sh*t! Are you sure this guy is for real?

Clarence sounds like the real deal...a native leader that actually responsibly leads and cares for his people with both feet firmly placed in reality.
He won't win many Liberal or Layton friends...he can't do much of a GreyOwl imitation.

Now there's an Idea.
He could be the NA minister that engineers its dismantlement.
The riel leader is Cut'n Run Rae,
sous-chief of the Socialist Party of the
Non-Native Residents of the Colonies.
