Just when you think the John Mark Karr case couldn't get any stranger.
First he confesses to involvement in the JonBenet Ramsey murder. Before waiting for any evidence, US officials fly him out of Thailand where he was about to face charges regarding inappropriate behaviour with children. Instead of facing jail time in a Thai prison, Karr gets a free plane ride out of the country.
This despite mounting cries that Karr was lying. And it turned out he was, and the charges in the Ramsey murder were dropped.
But Karr was still in trouble in California over charges of possessing child pornography. But instead of punishment, Karr is likely to go free, because his computer has disappeared from the evidence locker. Not only that, all the copies have disappeared as well.
According to the sheriff's department, this is the only time this has happened.
Now ask yourself this. Is Karr just the luckiest pervert in history? Or is he getting a helping hand?

Is Karr just the luckiest pervert in history?
Close to the luckiest.
The luckiest ones are clergy of the Roman Catholic Church. Dead and gone to heaven, protected by the Vatican all in the name of the sanctity of the church.
Karr's a total freakacreepazoid weirdo nutcase.
He made false confessional in order to get attention.
Some folks need attention so badly they'll do insane stuff to get it...
Maybe he's best left ignored. There are more important things to worry about than some sick freak, although he might be a child rapist, seeing as he's obsessed with children in a perverse, dangerous way, even if he hasn't done anything yet.
Perhaps the whole thing is a cry for help?
Well, someone should help him... to fix what's wrong in his head!
Why the fixation with Karr? Like all other perverts, he's incurable. Like all other perverts he'll be out on the street and we won't hear about him again until he violates another innocent child. That's the Canadian way, the US may have another approach but with the right legal team he'll get a better deal than his victims.
It appears he's more than a paedophile, he's a total freak of Nature and should never be trusted in the mainstream anywhere.

I'd give him a reasonably good chance of being elected to public office here in California.
and yet, when I *dare* to point out police wrongdoing here in ontariario, I get the 3rd degree from the right wing 'more power to the police' crowd.
hmmmm.
seems if the wrongdoing is directed at *someone else* then its ok to raise ire, but if the police malfiescence is directed at onesself, aha!!! no can whine and bitch and tell the tale of woe!!!
typical right wing dupliciousness.
Wow.
An hour and a half on the site and no one's blamed the liberals yet.
That's a record for SDA!!!!!

Your an idiot!! I suggest that the gay mafia has subversively put homosexuals into the Catholic Church so as to change the nature of the church which it has from conservative to liberal thus the resulting problem.
Once agian. Your statement is idiotic.
I supose that lowlife reptile will get that other lowlife reptile RAMSEY CLARK to defend him now
Like all other perverts he'll be out on the street and we won't hear about him again until he violates another innocent child.
So if he violates a guilty child, we probably won't hear about it?
There is of course another option: he may be insidiously intelligent. Just because he is a sick pervert does not preclude him from being a potential Mensa member. It is a clever trick he pulled to get out of a cell with Thai man-girls. Actually, he may have enjoyed that...
My grandfather used to quote-a true Priest will never be a homosexual, but a homosexual can and will become a Priest, to abuse the boys, and give the Church a bad name. Seems he was right.
Notice how Karr looks like the guy that supposedly killed JFK. Not only have the liberals not been blamed, neither has Bush.
At least the taxpayers of Sonoma County can fire their officials and elect new ones.
At least the taxpayers of Sonoma County can fire their occials and elect new ones!
well mary, mother of god, isnt the onus on the catholic church to ensure they dont wind up with wolves in sheeps clothing infesting their organization? and when one is rooted out, shouldnt they be defrocked instead of just reassigned to 'fresh grazing' as it were?
stop defending the indefensible.

t. schmuck, your information is outdated. Instances of clergy abuse in the RCC have fallen dramatically since the early 1980s, when the Church cracked down on the flakier seminaries. The regime that the American bishops adopted in Dallas in 2002 is if anything too harsh: long-time priests are being removed from active duty on the basis allegations only.
Shuffling paedophile priests from parish to parish was obvious a terrible thing, but it's not unique to the church. Exactly the same thing happened to a paedophile public schoolteacher I knew. Shuffled from district to district. The natural instincts of bureaucracy are to protect their own. The evidence may have been ambiguous, the accusers were maybe a little overwrought; the whole thing is so unpleasant that there's an aversion to acknowledging the plain facts. It's much easier just to let the problem go away.
Also, in the case of the 1970/80s RCC, an excessively lenient interpretation of Christian forgiveness combined with flaky "therapeutic" culture to create a real witch's brew of ethical disfunction - not the first time that well-meaning "nice" people have screwed things up utterly
