The truth hurts, revisionism doesn't.

The truth hurts, revisionism doesn't.

Isn't it true that we have been experiencing far too much Islamic fascist anger already?

Isn't the problem a faith based 'rationale' for "holy violence" aka jihad of the sword? This might be notable only amongst a small percentage of adherents.

Is not one to conquer the heart, before attempting to conquer foreign lands like the US, Britain, Spain, Canada, India, Indonesia, Somalia, Sudan, etc, etc, etc.?

Questions which so far have proved intractable or have been studiously ignored.

In a Fox News article this morning a spokeswoman for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry is quoted as saying "Anyone who describes Islam as a religion as intolerant encourages violence".
Your welcome for the grin, have a great day!

Ropers to Pope: Agree we are a religion of peace and tolerance or we'll kill you.

ROPER _ Religion Of Peace(r)

Can anyone cite when adherents of the Death Cult have been pleased, happy or euphoric about anything, or conversely, where's any joy or frivolity with these smucks?

Expect another assassination attempt on a Pope by another Muslim.

So lets see if Benedict backs down and apologizes or if he clairifies his remarks or, and this would be interesting, actually engages these guys in debate and dialouge.

PArt of that is getting them to clarify that Jihad is not violence but internal struggle....and to state that those who call it otherwise are incorrect and not within the tradition of Islam. While the old byzantine emperor's words may be impolitic they still pose the question that is sitting there like piece of poo in the middle of the table.

It is not for Benedict to apologize, only to clarify so as to sharpen the debate. The question remains, is Islam really about forced conversions and justifying violence to non believers? What is the role of violence within the religon, what is the role of state violence within the religon and what is the role of a state, period, within the religon. Call them out.

I suspect there is much disagreement amongst Islamic scholars and then you'll get the nutbars like Ayman Al Zawhiri answering Benedict. Watch, it will happen in the next communication, as he is really pushing to be the Islamic Pope and the entire world needs to measure up to his vision.....

Once again I am not a follower of Benedicts but I am curious about what the reaction would be should there be an Islamist incident involving the Pope or the Vatican? Thoughts?

"Anyone who describes Islam as a religion as intolerant encourages violence"

That - as they say - is a "keeper"!

Drudge has pix of Muslims burning the Pope in effigy. But they cry when we allegedly "look at them funny" on the subway.

"I am not a follower of Benedicts "

nor am I but I stand beside anyone who stands for Western civilisation

I forgot to add, it's a twofer. The BBC is angry too.

The article is bending over backwards to apologize for the Pope. Like their draconian Islamic counterparts, the BBC never deviates from the Holy and True Central Dogmas of Multiculturalism. The Pope offended their sensibilities too. You can read it between the lines.

Irony. http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=22564_RoP_Irony_Watch&only Better not call them violent or they could get violent.

The Pope is scheduled to visit Turkey in a few weeks; what could possibly go wrong?

Turk arrested for stabbing priest in Germany

KASSEL, Germany, SEPT. 14, 2006 (Zenit.org).- A Turk has been arrested in the stabbing of a 70-year-old Salesian parish priest who was attacked at the door of his rectory.

1981: Thousands see Pope shot in Rome

The Pope has been shot four times as he blessed the crowds in St Peter's Square in Rome.
...
Police arrested a 23-year-old man who said he was a Turkish citizen and gave his name as Mehmet Ali Hagca.

He kept repeating: "I couldn't care less about life."

The Turkish press has reported Hagca was jailed for the killing of Turkish newspaper editor Abdi Ipecki in February 1979. But he escaped from prison and left behind a letter vowing to kill the pontiff just before the Pope visited Turkey in 1979.

ANKARA - Turkey's highest Islamic authority Thursday called on Pope Benedict XVI to apologize for remarks he made during a trip to Germany in which he condemned the Islamic notion of jihad or holy war.

Turkey’s ruling party official says pope is like Hitler and Mussolini

ANKARA, Turkey - Turkey’s ruling Islamic-rooted party joined a wave of criticism of Pope Benedict XVI on Friday, accusing him of trying to revive the spirit of the Crusades with remarks he made about Islam. Muslim leaders in the Middle East expressed dismay and Pakistan’s parliament unanimously condemned him.

PS. It would benefit Bush and Olmert immensely if a Muslim killed the Pope. The Pope was critical of Israel during their latest war crime spree, doesn't support the "war on terror", and Benedict's "don't work so hard" edict won't go over well with the corporations that control the Bush administration. Olmert and Bush both have the means and the motive to murder the Pope and subsequently blame a Muslim patsy; my guess is that they won't do it. I hope I'm right.

Speaking of defenders of Western civilisation, Oriana Fallaci died today.

Oh you poor people, I feel so sorry that someone would say such things. It just wants to make me pitch a tent in the desert, eat figs, kiss my camel and join you in your 4th century misery. His remarks really were out of line out of place and out side any modern day understanding you could possibly have. Only when I close my eyes and really concentrate could I ever envision following this "religion", a birthright defect I’m fortunate to have missed. I must also say I’m quite happy to offend you all, both the extremists and those without the guts to stand up to the mullah morons.

Wimpy,

Totally agree with you. Just making it clear this isnt a religous issue for me. Benedict knows the environment that is best for Christianity and it is within a free society. He may not like some of the results and wishes there was more free acceptance of Christian precepts, but he knows what works best.

Penny,

That is sad, she will be missed.

So the Islamic world is once again exercised about something. Who cares? That is a steady state and it is wearing a bit thin. Sort of like the left wing being "outraged" at something. They are perpetually "outraged"....and it means nothing.

We can expect the angry Muslims from the Religion of Peace to be making every effort to engage the Pope in dialog, just like Taliban Jack would.

Our left, which abhors violence, will add its voice, calling for Islam to show restraint.

Well, at least I haven't heard that Islam is the religion of tolerance, yet.

Problem is that the Pope, being a forgiving peaceloving kind of guy will probably bend over backwards to try and rectify the perceived slight.

"Can anyone cite when adherents of the Death Cult have been pleased, happy or euphoric about anything"

I recall millions of them around the world danced in the streets with euphoric joy on Sept 11 when thousands of innocent people were murderd in the terrorist attacks on the WTC.

So we know mass murder turns their happiness crank . . .

This entire accusation that the Pope somehow insulted all of Islam is completely insane. Clearly, whose who write the news neither listened to the Pope's speech or bothered to look for a transcript of it later so that they could find out what in fact the Pope did say. Please note all, the Pope did NOT insult Islam at all. He merely quoted from a conversation regarding Islam. The point of his speech was actually about the separation of religion and reason that has occured over the years and the West's resulting reluctance to question anything cultural or religious.

PS: That should be "...those who write the news..."

The Pope will not apologize for telling the TRUTH. Perhaps those stmts will lead to more carbques in France. More and more people are starting to realize that everything upsets these terrorists and we don't really care anymore. If they want to live in the misery of the 12th century, let them. Just don't let any more of them into Canada, especially TO. In most coverage of them many are smoking so TO doesn't want them. Oh, I forgot, they are above the law, just movie people get fined.

Oh my heavens, the Pope is acting like a sentient cogent rational leader calling for a deeper dialogue and debate.

Sound the alarm, call Scotland Yard!! A leader who actually has the temerity to lead. That will never do , someone who questions the concept of 'faith based' or ideological violence.

Next thing you know and Pope Benedict XVI might preach the gospel of peace. What on earth is this world coming to?

Of course this might be anathema to those who prefer to wield an axe. The dialogue of guns, RPGs, IEDs, ball bearing loaded rockets, C4 laden suicide bombers, etc, etc ... I mean what does a righteous arms dealer really need to do to turn a US Dollar?

You know the dollar that says "In God We Trust", that comes from the 'Great Satan'; but seems good enough for Hezbollah the "Army of God" to hand out, in $12,000.00 parcels, to victims of its own policies.

But, what the HELL, life is cheap; yah kill em all and let God sort them out!!

But if your one of those Stalinist types this quote will do:

"The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of a million men is a statistic"? Let's make all of them statistics.

Hey rivers of blood, just like the great 20th century Hemoclysm:

http://cgibin.rcn.com/mwhite28/atrox.htm

"It's very possible, therefore, that future historians will consider these events to be mere episodes of a single massive upheaval -- the "Hemoclysm", to give it a name (Greek for "blood flood") -- which took the lives of some 155 million people. All in all, over 80% of the deaths caused by Twentieth Century atrocities occurred in the Hemoclysm.

It divides neatly into two parts -- Eastern and Western. The Eastern Hemoclysm began with the overthrow of the Manchu dynasty in China in 1911 leading to 38 years of Civil War and a Japanese invasion. In 1949, the bloodbath of the interregnum gave way to a greater bloodbath as the Communists consolidated power under Mao (who died in 1976). When seen as a continuum, this phase of Chinese history was a 65 year nightmare which took some 75 million lives.

The first sparks of the Western Hemoclysm were the Balkan Wars (1912-13) which quickly ignited the First World War. This brought down four of the most powerful monarchies in Europe, leading to a power vacuum which was eventually filled by the Nazis in Germany and the Communists in Russia, who came into conflict during the Second World War. The death of Stalin in 1953 finally extinguished the Western Hemoclysm after the loss of some 80 million lives."

The guerilla problem will be ended permanently.

So according to the 'goons' we just need more of bloodletting than we already experienced in the 20th century.

We need the 21st century to outdo the bloodletting of the 20th century hemoclysm as we have to make sure that the 'end of the world' has to happen to somebody, but not me.

In some senses Pope Benedict XVI is correct, currently the cultures of East and West are having a dialogue of the deaf.

Can faith based violent extremists understand sign language?

What was that old saying:

"It takes two years to hear, it takes fifty years to listen."

It appears this will be a long dialogue.

This pope doesn't strike me as somebody willing to confine himself to remarks that make everybody feel good about themselves. :-)

Muslim Brotherhood: "...are merely wrong and distorted beliefs being repeated in the west."

Typical.

"Out of context." Another typical response.

Of course, the threat of violence is the all too common response for speaking the truth about the death cult.

I hope the Pope does not back down. Beyond speaking the truth about the mass-murdering, pedophile prophet and his blood thirsty god - Islam should be constantly ridiculed.

With each perceived slight, the ROPers riot in the streets and kill each other, saving the rest of the world the trouble.

Pope Benedict is not the Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox church. What gives?*

Orthodox church in Gaza attacked; none wounded

AP ^ | 9/15/6
A small explosion caused minor damage Friday in a courtyard outside a Greek Orthodox church in Gaza City, church workers said. The early morning blast appeared to have been caused by a small, homemade explosive device, which damaged a door and caused minor damage to the floor and walls, church workers said. No one was wounded. A second explosion hit the church hours later and a concussion grenade was thrown near the church in the afternoon. Neither of those blasts caused any damage, but church officials worried that the attacks were retaliation for remarks that Pope Benedict XVI made Tuesday...-

Did I miss something or was he not just quoting from something written by a Persian scholar?

Since when is reading something a crime?

From the FOX news story:

'Salih Kapusuz, a deputy leader of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's party, said Benedict's remarks were either "the result of pitiful ignorance" about Islam and its prophet, or a deliberate distortion.

"He has a dark mentality that comes from the darkness of the Middle Ages. He is a poor thing that has not benefited from the spirit of reform in the Christian world," Kapusuz was quoted as saying by the state-owned Anatolia news agency. "It looks like an effort to revive the mentality of the Crusades."

"Benedict, the author of such unfortunate and insolent remarks, is going down in history for his words," he said. "He is going down in history in the same category as leaders such as (Adolf) Hitler and (Benito) Mussolini."

Turkey's staunchly secular opposition party also demanded that Benedict apologize to Muslims before his visit to Turkey.'

So there you have it folks Pope Benedict is in league with HITLER and MUSSOLINI according to
Salih Kapusuz, a deputy leader of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's party.

Yep, pretty soon the Pope will have a swastika armband just like Prince Harry.

I think the pot just boiled over, with misrepresentation and accusation being the order of the day.

Of course actually reading the Pope's speech might be helpful.

We don't have to do or say anything to get Islamic jihadists to attack. The Koran requires them to attack nonMuslims anyway.

Benedict is opening important issues; namely, the violence and hatred within Islam. It is vital that he doesn't back down; of course, the violent are going to reject his words - what else would they do?

It's the Muslim world, the people who aren't speaking, that must think about what various leaders are saying - that Islam is a violent death cult.

In other news: Lourdes celebrates its 5,974th riot-free day!

I though the whole "muslim world" was already angry!!

BFD - If those so called moderated muslims don't want to face backlash from non-muslims who angry about being overtly threatened and insulted by their so called leaders as well as attacked by their fellows.....well they had just better start to speak up! Even better if they started to show some respect for the nations and peoples that host them.
If these SOB's want to put their religion ahead of the welfare of MY NATION they are going to have to answer for it.

This pope doesn't strike me as somebody willing to confine himself to remarks that make everybody feel good about themselves. :-)

If the Pope keeps this up, posters on SDA will start converting. The German Shepherd still has some bite left in him.

Finally a Pope with some balls. They don't have to put this guy on the Pope Joan throne.

I find it funny that jihadists and their western apologists use muslim backlash as an excuse for attrocities but call even a hint of western backlash racist

Maz2,

I noticed that as well. Apparently the people who damaged the Greek Orthodox church are as smart as the people who tossed molotov's at the Sikh temple in Hamilton after 9-11.

"Of course actually reading the Pope's speech might be helpful."

Gee Hans, since when did the facts ever get in the way of a good hate-filled rage? After all, this is the new millenium where stonings and beheadings for beliefs, real or perceived, are things of the past... errr, never mind.

This isn't at all surprising. Remember the Nigerian Beauty Pageant violence, where Christians were murdered over a comment made about Mohammed and the contestants?

"The beauty queens should not fel that they are the cause of the violence. It could happen at any time irresponsible journalism is committed against Islam" - Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo

The merest critique sends them off the edge.

The Pope did not insult Islam. The Islamic nut bars can't even read,so its the leaders doing; I am insulted bit.Lets face it they are sick.We will see mass demo's all over the world.Every little thing seems to set them off,to wanting a apology. The Pope should not appease them

ken

what a classic quote!

As I mentioned in another thread and was mentioned above, please read the whole speech. The fact that such comments are emanating from the global Muslim community is alarming because, in context, the Pope's words encourage the inclusion of all religion and theology in the realms of science in higher learning. (my coles' notes version sucks; please read the transcript!)

If his point was to condemn militant Islam and jihad, he wouldn't have had to go back to a quote from 1190AD (or whenever) to do that.

Ruth, that's just part of the point. It's not whether he insulted islam, bla blah, or not. The islamic leaders are using it to stir up the mob, who are illiterate, for their own ends - mainly to extract some obeisance from the infidels.

Well, as someone alluded to before the outrage is wearing thin.

This is turning into a dog bites man story. And any future Muslim outrage should be seen as such.....yawn, whats on the next channel....

It will be news when there is a rational response.

Hans Rupprecht,

What is really ironic about the Turks' response of comparison to Hitler, etc. is that Mein Kampf is THE MOST popular book in Turkey at the moment; so aren't they paying Benedict a complement? or are they just completely screwed up in the head?

"Anyone who describes Islam as a religion as intolerant encourages violence".

A Westerner who has never lived outside of Western culture will be baffled by the irony and lack of logic in this and other statements made by Muslims.

Logic is not an innate human skill, it is a learned science that has been developed in The West. It is not a science that permeates all parts of the world.

An example of Arab “logic” in action:

Old Arab gent in Riyadh collides with a vacant parked car owned by an expatriate. The police attribute 50% of the blame to each party, because in their view, if the expatriate were not in their country there would have been no object for the Arab to collide with.

Is it logical for us to try and be logical with illogical people?

If we want to win this we better stick to the “Strong Horse Theory” as both Osama bin Laden and Mark Steyn call it. We have to be the strong horse.

This is good opportunity for Benedict to avoid going to Turkey and for the EU to leave Turkey's application for membership in the in-basket for a century of two.

Yeah, yeah, scramble their eggs Benedict :-)

... sorry, couldn't resist

Islam has turned into the WWE Raw of the Monotheistic World.
