Globe and Mail caught fudging the facts

The G&M has an agenda, as do most of the other MSM services in Canada - Bash Harper, Bash the CPC. Get the 'Natural Governing Party, the Liberals, Back in Power. Ignore the corruption of the Liberals, ignore the lack of principles of the Liberals, ignore the lack of ethics, the lack of policies. They are, after all, 'natural'.

Note how the article claims that the RCMP commissioner 'surfaced publicly' implying clearly that the Commissioner had been deliberately hiding from the public.

As for the 'shake-hands' image, to rely only on televised coverage rather than factual reporting by the participants, is insulting. Effectively, the G&M is claiming, openly, that Mr. Day has deliberately, in his letter, lied to the G&M. Their evidence is that the television images don't show The Handshake. But, what if there was no television coverage of that particular interaction? Again - the B&M is openly claiming that Mr. Day is a liar. Hmmm.

I am sure that somewhere in the many photos taken that day by spectators, there is one showing this handshake. How much will the globe pay the owner not to publish it. Lib posters re Martins stmt in the comments at globe, say wait for a divided lib party to win a minority next election. Will they vote for Iggy, who supports Iraq, torture and Mr Bush. Where is their credibility. They also say that urban voters in Van, Montreal and TO will never vote for our PM. Lets wait till tomorrow and see that sea of RED supporting our troops and our govts actions. A lot of them will vote for the conservatives. Re Arar, has he ever been asked what torture he endured, or is that a question no to be asked, aka Clinton on Fox.

I have to ask - why does the media think that THEY are the ones who should ask the questions when our government officials have to communicate to Canadians. The House of Commons is where the government talks to canadians. The opposition are the ones who are entrusted to ask the questions on our behalf. Committees of the house are another venue. Canadians can access government in so many other ways to get facts unfiltered. And, if WE have questions of the government we contact our MP.
The media is simply an obstacle to truth in my opinion. I am sick of CBC news broadcasting only the first few minutes of question period where government speaks to us and then cuts to Don Newman trying to tell us what HE says THEY said and HIS opinion rather then letting us see for ourselves.
I think the LAST people to be communicated to on behalf of Canadians is the media and even then we all see that they screw so badly with the truth that all we get is a mangled story and fabrications and opinions from those popular unamed sources.

A Globe & Mail article today in the science section states that the average human brain weighs 130 grams. They must have arrived at that figure measuring the average weight of their own brains at the Globe & Mail.

It saddens me that the Globe and Mail would stoop so low in their quest to fulfill their anti-CPC agenda.

I can proudly state that I have not purchased a G&M paper for quite a number of years. In fact, when I fly Westjet (frequently), they often offer it as a free selection amongst a number of different papers. I won't even take a copy of it as I don't want anything to do with improving the circulation numbers of that rag. Their response to Day's office is incredible, but simply confirms my stance has been the correct one.

Does anyone have an e-mail address for the G & M, I would like to express my disgust with them.

What a rag. Did anyone see the piece on CTV? Did they imply the same? Is this laziness, stupidity or worse, on the part of this reporter?

Do you really doubt he was tortured? Does anyone? I never have, but what is it worth? For the record it was the past Liberal Government that did this to him. As for the current government, publicly apologizing, let's be fair.

Good point - the only so called proof we have of this is Arar's word to justify $400 MILLION of the taxpayer's money. Hmmmmmm. And if the Government of canada FORMALLY apologizes that would be legally binding as admitting guilt to help with the civil claim. And, Arar's WIFE ran for the NDP and the NDP are screaming for an apology BEFORE the civil claim is settled?
I think Bill Graham should re-iterate that he was informed by Syria that Arar was NOT tortured and then work back from there before any money is paid.

No, I don't believe Arar was tortured, he still has his head, he shows no signs of broken bones, he did not look malnurished when he surfaced, his back didn't have marks on it that he showed. What was the torture, lights on all day and night, isolation, listening to Celine or other music he may not have chosen, or maybe he had to have a body search. Or maybe he didn't get a Koran and prayer mat that we give these terrorists.That is ridicule, not torture. Has he given up his Syrian passport, I doubt it. All dual citizens in Canada, with passports to the mid-east better pay attention to the latest bill passed by Congress and the Senate. Has an item in it about detaining non citizens for no reason and holding them without trial till the war on terror is over. Guess they don't want Arar types and Khdar types visiting. The G & M is an establishment paper, the Liberal establishment. Thje Red Star is the [party organ.

The current Conservative government is inherently anti-establishment. We should not be surprised or expect any other behaviour. This is 1838 and 1848 combined. The Conservatives are the anti-establishment party. And rightly so; given what the establishment has failed to achieve during "Canada's Century" the 20th.

Back to the topic "at hand" as it were, did the MSM not realize that Stock and the Commish used the secret handshake? The one reserved for only members of the highest order of.... oops, I've said too much already.

Notice how the MSM are really really really avoiding the obvious - Anne McLellan and Bill Graham really really really screwed up. The O'Conner report references this and the only place I have read anything about dear Annie's role is in the Edmonton Journal - not even a headline. Or, how about CSIS? Or how about the media themselves who are the very ones who created the headlines about Arar that kept the story that he was a terror risk going?
And now it is US, the taxpayer who takes a $400 million hit? How about a few defamation suits to the media by Arar for the lazy media who themselves did not do due diligence in their reporting? And...it continues.

Interesting it seems that video footage is required for something to be proven to the G&M except if you are a retired RCMP officer with a hunch that the Chief of the RCMP is being muzzled. Then your word is taken as gospel and the G&M requires no proof at all in order to print your assumptions.

As opposed to all other media outlets, present company included.

I'd rather you let us know when something in our media is confirmed true.

"A front page story Monday about RCMP Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli stated that Mr. Zaccardelli and Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day did not speak with each other at a Parliament Hill ceremony to honour police officers slain on duty. In fact, both men say they spoke and shook hands after the ceremony. The Globe and Mail regrets the error."

Of course, the damage is done, because how many readers, or those who don't even read the G&M, have registered Stockwell Day's alleged snub of Commissioner Zaccardelli?
