Gaza

“When we left the Gaza Strip we didn’t think the terrorism would stop," he said. "We understood that there would no longer be any legitimacy for them to act. A year after they continue to re-arm. The terrorist groups -- Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad -- they did not turn the areas we left into schools, factories, and so on. They became training camps for the terrorist groups.”

“We have good defenses on the border fence," the major said. “Last year more than 70 terrorists were killed trying to breach it. Because the area is very confined, terrorism is brewing. They keep trying to find ways to go outside. It is like a volcano of terror. It needs to go somewhere. They try to go around, out into Egypt, and then over to the Israeli side. Sometimes they try to cross back in right next to Gaza. Other times they go down near Eilat [at the bottom of Israel.]”

Gaza is tiny. It's 30 or so miles long and only a few miles wide.

“[They try] to go around the border," he said, "in order to move information, training, and terrorists, and ammunition to their side from the West Bank. They are always trying to find ways to go around the Israeli border. They also fired something like 1,000 Qassam rockets since the disengagement until now. For no reason.”

Another report by Michael Totten.

Hmmm, given that IDF propagandist Michael Totten is giving Gaza some pub you can bet the farm that Israel is gonna hit Gaza hard within the next 48 hours. Should Totten be arrested for aiding and abetting war crimes?

Israeli Forces Bulldoze Trees

At dawn Friday Israeli forces incurred hundreds of meters into the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun. In addition to destroying trees Israeli forces injured a Palestinian woman with tank shell shrapnel.
...
The witnesses added that Israeli bulldozers uprooted trees while others plowed through the area. Beit Hanoun was a vital agricultural area capable of producing enough food for the Gaza Strip and part of the West Bank. But after Israeli forces stepped-up destruction in 2003, within a year the town was virtually unrecognizable.

"In a report published Wednesday, the World Bank stated that the economic crisis caused by the Israeli-imposed blockade of all imports and exports into the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories (the West Bank and Gaza Strip) since March has caused 2006 to be the worst year so far in Palestinian history.

"Gaza is dying. The Israeli siege of the Palestinian enclave is so tight that its people are on the edge of starvation. Here on the shores of the Mediterranean a great tragedy is taking place that is being ignored because the world’s attention has been diverted by wars in Lebanon and Iraq."

Gaza's poor struggling to survive in the face of an economic blockade

Exactly.
The Gaza Strip was immediately taken over by the thugs as the Israelis left..in no time at all any ordinary citizens were either coopted into support and aid of the gangsters or forced to leave.

The strip is now one large armed camp. Maybe broken up into various divisions down the lines of whatever gang has established their turf and can proteect their interests there.

Think East LA without any cops!

And yet the Palestinians and Islamofascists and moonbats STILL blame all of their probelms on Israel....oh yeah and BUSH.

This is a war that cannot be won. The reason being that there is nobody really in charge over in Gaza. The terrorists in Gaza have no real goal or objective (other than the anailation of Israel). You cannot give them anything in the hopes of peace because they do not want or need anything that Israel can provide. Israel withdrew from Gaza a while back leaving the infrastructure intact. And what did the Palistinians do with this "just add people and live" gift? Why they destroyed most of it and are using what is left to launch attacks from. And through all of this, Israel is the bad guy. Go figure. Israel truly have the neighbours from hell.

Gaza- and for that matter, the entire PA, is nothing more than a petrie dish for failure and an incubator for terror, funded by well meaning, but clearly narcissitic and myopic governments, dreaming that this time appeasemnet will work.

sigmund carl and alfie says "I love war crimes."

Your generation's "appeasemnet" (sic) of Israeli war crimes will not be judged with forbearance when my generation seizes power from the selfish baby boomer statists, Sig Sig. Indeed, we'll take your appeasement it into consideration while reflecting upon the appropriateness of "your" pension ;-)
