CTV: Harper Speaks To Nation On Anniversary Of 9/11

And fully one third of the "news" report is devoted to editorial comment by CTV's Craig Oliver.

Video of Harper speech.

Full text in the extended entry.

Good evening. Today is the fifth anniversary of the terrible events of Sept. 11, 2001.

I am speaking to you from the Hall of Honour in the Centre Block of Parliament.

With me are some Canadians whose lives have been touched by 9-11 in ways that most of us can't even begin to imagine.

Men and women who lost loved ones in the attacks on the World Trade Centre. Tanja Tomasevic, who lost her husband, Vladimir; Danny Eisen who lost his cousin, Danny; and Maureen and Erica Basnicki, who lost their husband and father, Ken.

I asked them to join me because words alone are not enough to express what needs to be said today.

As we pay tribute to the 24 Canadians who lost their lives on that infamous day five years ago, their family members remind us that they were real people with real lives.

Lives that were cut short -- deliberately so -- by a murderous act of terrorism.

Like most Canadians, I have a vivid memory of that morning.

As my wife, Laureen, and I watched the second tower collapse on television, as the enormity of the events began to sink in, I turned to her and said: "This will change the course of history.''

And so it has.

In the years that followed, terror struck Bali in Indonesia, Madrid in Spain, London in Great Britain. And security forces in many countries -- including Canada -- have foiled alleged terrorist plots before they could be executed.

The targets and tactics were different in every case, but the objective is always the same. To kill, maim and terrify as many people as possible. Not in the name of any idealistic cause, but because of an ideology of hatred.

And while this war of terror has displayed some of the worst of which humanity is capable, so too has it revealed the greatness and generosity that lie at the core of so many ordinary people.

Something which was on display for all to see when Canadians opened their arms and homes to thousands of travellers whose flights were diverted on 9-11.

And because of this war of terror, people around the world have come together to offer a better vision of the future for all humanity.

For this vision to take hold, the menace of terror must be confronted.

And that is why the countries of the United Nations, with unprecedented unity and determination, launched their mission to Afghanistan to deal with the source of the 9-11 terror and to end, once and for all, the brutal regime that horribly mistreated its own people while coddling terrorists.

And that is why I invited the families of some of the Canadian soldiers who are currently serving in Afghanistan to join us here today.

I want to thank Raquel Hounsell, Janice Shaw and Jane Hill for being here. Their husbands are currently serving in Afghanistan. And Capt. Edward and Judy Kosierb, whose son is serving in Afghanistan.

Their presence here reminds us that real people -- Canadian men and women with families and children -- are courageously putting themselves forward to make that part of the world a better place.

It is the desire to make a better and safer world which compels our soldiers to put their lives on the line.

There are Canadian heroes being made every day in the desert and the mountains of southern Afghanistan.

These are the stories we don't hear -- the countless acts of courage and sacrifice that occur every day on the battlefield.

And in the towns and villages where Canadians are reconstructing the basic infrastructure of a shattered nation.

Because of their efforts, the Taliban is on the run, not the charge.

Women now have basic rights as human beings. Youngsters are getting a chance to go to school. And many -- but not yet all Afghan families -- are beginning to rebuild their lives with our help.

Because we are a country that has always accepted its responsibilities in the world, from two great wars in Europe, from Korea to the Balkans, Canada has acted when the United Nations has asked.

And as the events of Sept. 11 so clearly illustrate, the horrors of the world will not go away if we turn a blind eye to them, no matter how far off they may be.

And these horrors cannot be stopped unless some among us are willing to accept enormous sacrifice and risk to themselves.

I would ask that, tonight, you keep in your thoughts and prayers the victims and families of 9-11 and all those ordinary people who have died or lost loved ones in related acts of terror.

I would ask as well, that you keep in your thoughts and prayers the personnel and families of the extraordinary people in Afghanistan and elsewhere who have put themselves on the line so that the world is a better and safer place for all of us.

Good night.

Sorry, Kate, posted this in the wrong article. Here it is again.
Winston Churchill once said "Give us the tools and we will finish the job!" The leftists in this country have bled our military dry for fifty years and now that they have asked the military to deal with a situation that requires a military solution they want to "cut and run". This is typical. The tanks sent by Harper are a start, let's provide the rest of the tools to finish the job.

I love how because his colleagues bring up quagmires he can say I hear references to quagmires. Talk about self-fulfilling. And regroup areas...all he needed to add that he is now playing the role of Walter Cronkite. And that's the way it is.

What Harper had to say needed to be said to the nation. Most people don't know what is going on and they do not see the dire need to combat these radicals who are disrupting our lives. The people need to be reminded that we are there for a rational reason. The World Trade Center is one reason. Madrid and London are another reason. The malicious words of the Mullah's are an obvious reason. We are at war and most people don't know it. It is a war as big as the Cold War against the USSR and a war as serious as the Hitler war. Craig Oliver appears to be on the side of the enemy at the moment. These equivocators need to know that the Canadian people understand that this threat needs to be confronted. A national debate needs to occur on how best to confront this menace. We are now on the ground in Afghanistan at the Afghani people's request and at the UN's request. If this is not the way to go then what is the alternative? Certainly not surrender as the NDP proposes.

I thought I read somewhere long ago that this relic of an anchor was retirering. Must be staying on because he knows he has no chance of a Senate seat. Time for term limits on anchors as well as senators. There must be someone out there with brains.

I listened to Harper's speech and then when I saw Craig Oliver's face * CLICK * onto the next channel.

Critics are saying that Craig Oliver is irrelevant.

There is an intellectual/moral fault line running through all the countries that comprise what we call Western Civilization.

On one side are the September 10th people, still in intellectual and moral denial. On the other side of this fault line are the September 11th people, having the fortitude the others choose to lack, thereby being willing to look at and respond to reality.

To use an historical metaphor, there are the Chamberlain-ites and the Churchill-ites.

Oliver makes me sick.According to him now are tankers are going to be running thru peoples homes, yada yada. .
He also states the Taliban are fighting semi conventionally like its a bad thing, did he ever think more taliban in one spot make for a bigger target for airpower.
Oliver is the king of the defeatists

well the PM aint the only one talking.

"Rice says Canada and U.S. are 'best of friends'
Updated Mon. Sep. 11 2006 5:40 PM ET
CTV.ca News Staff
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice thanked Canadians for providing a port in the storm for thousands of stranded Americans and other passengers on Sept. 11, 2001.
"It's a day, of course, to know and remember that there is indeed evil in the world, and we saw its awful face on that horrible day," Rice said at a brief ceremony at Halifax International Airport.
"But it's also a day to recognize that very often when the worst in human behaviour and human nature exhibits itself, so does the best in human nature and human behaviour -- and that is what we saw here."

bla bla bla.

well ms rice, if we'se such good buddies, why why why did you americans renege to the tune of billions of dollars on the softwood lumber deal? in the face of repeated unanymous rulings in favour of canada?

sheesh. with 'friends' like that ....

capitalism all round people!!! (pssst: especially for the americans!!! who cheat lie and steal from their best friends and then hide behind a flag!!)

Here is the handiwork of Jack "Taliban" Layton: another white feather* for Layton's white feather collection: The Taliban are "Child Killers".

Jack "Taliban" Layton/NDP aids/abets/supports child killers, aka the Taliban.

(BTW, where is Ed "Mr. Democratic Socialist" Broadbent? When will Mr. Ed speak?) ...-

Do we hear the outrage from the lefties and CBC?

President Hamid Karzai, who counted Taniwal, a former minister of mines, as a close associate, condemned the bombing.

"The enemies of Afghanistan, by carrying out a terrorist attack on the funeral ceremony of Hakim Taniwal, showed that they are not only against the traditions and cultures of Afghans, but also against Islamic law," he said.

Five police and a 12-year-old boy were killed, said Dr. Wali Shah at the government hospital in the Khost provincial capital, about 50 kilometres north of Tani. Dozens of people had been treated for injuries, and more than 20 were still hospitalized, including the deputy provincial police chief. The attacker also died.
Mohammed Hanif, who claims to speak for the Taliban, had claimed responsibility for Sunday's attack and threatened more. ...-

t. schmuck esq. : Have you been around long? You have a great deal to learn.

No room for smart-ass banter on this day, no decent person is in the mood for the politics of fools.

Did anyone notice how Oliver immediately after the speech said that Harper got his point across but moments later he was criticizing everything about the speech and the mission? Almost like his liberal handlers were a little tardy with his speaking points.

BTW as an armoured corps soldier all I can say about tanks in Afghanistan is... Go get 'em boys!!! Throught the mud and the blood to the green fields beyond!!!

REALLY!- And on today of all days... cannot resist finding something negative to say, regardless of circumstances.
Sec of State Rice is doing honour to Canadians, which is due as ordinary people exhibited real friendship between Americans and Canadians, and this goes vice versa when Canadians are in the States.. Softwood lumber is an altogether different issue and has been settled amicably by a PM and his contigent to the tune of a benefit to Canadians NOT a deficit...yet all I hear is that Canadians have had over a billion dollars stolen from them. Reality is that the US could have played this out for another 5 years if they thought it would irritate a liberal , arrogant government as illustrated in Chretien and Martin.
Why? Because they can... funny, though.
I have never heard anyone say they would prefer the likes of Iraq, Iran or even Mexico as a neighbor than the US.. sometimes we have to take a dose of reality and acknowledge that we have pretty good friends south of the border, and even now, they would be the ones to save our sorry asses if trouble REALLY came because we cannot do it ourselves!! .. So, get off your high horse and give it a rest for ONE day and thank God that our US neighbors are as nice and good as they are.
Nobody is perfect and Canada sure has their asses as well... so a bit of perspective is in order, especially TODAY!

" (pssst: especially for the americans!!! who cheat lie and steal from their best friends and then hide behind a flag!!)"

. . . while protecting Graig Oliver, Jack Layton and t.schmuck esq.'s sorry left wing anti-American ass!

Thanks, Joe Molnar...your comments are appreciated very much... and right to the point!

I cannot remember another PM from Canada even acknowledging that we actually lost 24 Canadians at the WTC!-Chretien would not even go there and I have heard NOTHING from the liberal government in the 5 years that have passed that indicated they even cared.
VERY important to have our PM make this effort and make this speech... and to honour the families of those lost.. ABOUT DAMN TIME!
Thank God for Stephen Harper... I feel we have our honour back in some quarter, certainly proud of our government now after 13 years of being ashamed of those miscreants in Ottawa.

I've seen Oliver on QP allow a Liberal to make an absurd comment and even lie about their stance on Afghanistan and Childcare, He needs to retire because the internet lets people see the truth and no longer trust the editted Politically Correct reports from the old days which Oliver was part of.

When someone comes on TV to deny something the internet can post a A/V streaming file to prove it and Oliver looks like an idiot for using a teleprompter to give him the news , remeber the three Amigo's that went to Lebanon and Boris BadEnough opined about Hezbollah , the Liberal denied his comments but the MSM had video and audio proof from Lebanon and Canada when he landed here at the Airport.
Even Peggy Nash tried to put a spin on her mission , she denied any link to the CAF and said it was a NDP mission and later she would visit Israel after they cleaned up the bombed areas.

CTV is sounding like the enemy propaganda ministry that canadian soldiers are Kaput , you're losing and the girls back home are cheating on you.

I just played the speech and I must say that I am proud that Canada finally has a leader willing to lead. No political cheap shots, just honest and sincere words from the leader of a nation.

Why they ever ask for Craig Oliver's take on this is beyond me. My comments on dipweed esq are written in an earlier thread and still are valid here. Grow up.

I to am proud we have a prime minister of such stature. In so far as Craig Oliver is concerned I urge everyone to take Mr Oliver with a grain of salt. When you are young, your mind and eyes and intellect are sharp and focused. I can tell you from experience that when one gets older that fades. Hell, sometimes us old guys forget were we left our brain. Now, most of us are smart enough to retire and go out to pasture. In Craigs case that hasn't happened yet, but we hope it will be soon. Real soon

schmuck..the name says it all

well snowbunnie, if the americans didnt cheat lie and steal on softwood lumber, then I wouldnt have that to point out regardless of the date.

I wonder if the mill owners, and thousands of employees who lost jobs because of the american's duplicity, have the same inhibition about calling them on the carpet regardless of the date.

oh, also snowbunnie: are these the same 'good neighbors' who selectively enforce the same nafta in order to get their clutches forever on our fresh water? what do you really really think is going to happen when florida sucks its aquifer dry and the same thing happens to californicate when they finally kill the colorado somehow?

always some excuse (noun) to excuse (verb) the americans penchant for thievery eh there mr & ms right wing!!!

Check out Dr.Elmasry's hatred for canada and our troops , he spews lies about Christians and jews , he fabricates a canada of peacekeepers
and not fighters, he defend Hezbollah and tells other Muslims that they're oppressed in canada.

Elmasry has a history of calling for Jihad and the end to Western Democracies , he back Sharia-Law for female Muslims in Canada and called for the killing of all Israelis over 18 as valid targets for suicide bombers .
Elmasry has threaten canada with youth jihad for Terrorizing Muslims in Canada , he preaches in radical Mosques like the one near me where the Imam lied in a newspapaer article about Islam and peace.

Kate,

You can pick up the full text source from the linked CTV news article.

When it comes to our fresh water I will be very happy for Canada when the time comes that we embark on the megaproject to supply fresh water to the USA. It's still a decade or two away but it will be a megaproject bigger than the tar sands and it won't be limited to a small corner of Alberta. The amount of work, the jobs, the infrastructure, will create a secure and healthy life for millions of Canadians for centuries. It's going to be a wonderful new era, futuristic, the stuff of science fiction. The socialist hordes will oppose it, but only because they like to deal out "social justice", a la Lenin/Stalin/Mao/Castro/Pol Pot/Kim which means imposing punishment and suffering on people.

Thanks for a good day, folks - I feel like I spent time at a reception. It was a day for reflection and it was great to spend it with you.
As with any social event, there is often somebody in an ugly suit who tries to start a fight or pukes on the carpet, but that's a small thing. And I mean small. Really, really small.
Again, real glad SDA exists.

On this day of remberance, I continue to be embaarased by my fellow Canadians.

To Scmuck: A more appropriate name I couldn't come up with. You friends on the left in "The American President" Sorkin, Douglas, Benning et al had it right, if you believe in free speech while someone espouses something you have fought against your entire life that is the test of Democracy. Because I beleive that comment I will not slagyou further, but as a troll, I will no longer respond to your bait.

To those Haligonans(Is that right for you Halifax residents?), only you NIMRODS can try and score political points on Sept. 11. Take your anti-american rants and at least have the decency and save it untill tomorrow.

As an aside, I was in NY on Sept 9 and my birthday is Sept 12 ao for me this will be a day never to be forgotten.

God Bless Canada. Keep up the great work Prime Minister Harper.

Craig Oliver, time to hang up your microphone. You make the CBC look good by comparison.

I thought Harper's speech was excellent - and George Bush's speech was also excellent.

To those who sneer that Harper included 'real people', both who had lost family members and those who were serving in Afghanistan, in his speech and in view - I think it's important they were there. Harper is a realist, he deals in facts not fictions. Our Liberal/NDP/Bloc leaders live within the delusions of a fictional world of their own rhetoric. They refuse to face reality. But Harper locates his decisions within real facts, real people, real events.

And that's the point of this war. The Islamic fascists, like the left Liberals/NDP/Bloc, also live within a fictional world - a world they are promoting, a world that rejects reality, that rejects individuals, a world focused instead on the fictional dreams of 'death'. Islamism is a death cult, rejecting life and the living, and promising benefits only within death.

The Liberals/NDP/Bloc are similar in their fictional ideology - rejecting reality and focusing only on future benefits IF, IF, IF they are elected.

Islamic fascism is real; and the NATO fight against it in Afghanistan is necessary.

Bush was saying the same thing - we cannot leave a world without freedom for our children, and the Islamic ideology rejects freedom. Their world, is a world without education, where women are locked in the home, a world without hope. And he made an important statement. This is not a war between civilizations. It is a war on behalf of civilization.

After all - how can one define a people, who stone women to death for their having been raped, who reject the education of women, who reject individualism, questions, science, innovation - who are focused only on death - how can one consider such an ideology as 'civilized'? It is a primitive and pathological ideology - and Bush is right that we must fight it - to leave our children the right to freedom.

Exclusive reaction from Craig Oliver at the above link.

hey schmuck, it would be interesting to know why you attach the esq..British wannabe nobility perhaps or just a plain old every day schmuck

He was not too sincere. He tried to convince us but did he?? This whole thing reminds me of speeches I saw about Vietnam and saving the people. Look at Russia and (Chechnia?) I just don't know what to believe. I don't trust the Tories. History has made it so. You can't trust the Americans. History made that so also. People will make the difference. If we have enough people against the war to show so in an election it will end. Only an election or lots of opposition. But Harper may woo Quebec with a tidbit so they prop up his government. The eastern voters are a different lot. They vote Tory one year then liberal the next. They're both different sides of the same coin.

To "KeninCGY": Haligonians will do. Unfortunately this city is run by the moonbats. The provincial NDP won almost 50% of the vote here in this year's election. The NDP will form the next government, because the current PC premier is an incompetent boob.

Ignore anything coming out of this city, and for that matter the province, politically. It's a basket case.

What the hell is wrong with these MSM dolts?
Oliver has got to be trying for the post of biggest ass in the business these days!

To Kill an American

Written by an Australian Dentist....
and too good to delete....

You probably missed it in the rush of news last week, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.

So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American is . So they would know when they found one.
( Good one, mate ! )

"An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani or Afghan.

An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.

An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses.

An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.

An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return.

When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country!

As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan. Americans welcome the best of everything...the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best services. But they also welcome the least.

The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty , welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America.

Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. It's been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists.

So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.

God bless Canada.

It's high time we took some pride in our men and women over there. Thank you, Harper.

The world of 9/10 has fallen; and great was the fall of it.

Robert Graves, a survivor of World War One, entitled his autobiography, "Goodbye To All That".

We said goodbye to all that, to the world of 9/10, on 9/11. The world of 9/11 is upon us. There is no return. The world-tower of 9/10 cannot be rebuilt. ...-

The Day of Awakening

Commentary

In the long run, the correct analogy for September 11 may prove to be Concord Bridge rather than Pearl Harbor. The attack on Manhattan provoked people to ask whether they could still owe allegiance to the multicultural, one-worldism of the 1990s, or whether like the farmers beside the "rude bridge that arched the flood", they owed allegiance to each other.

The most striking thing about the commemoration of 9/11 five years on is how durable that counter-conciousness has proved. Anyone who wants to examine a real quagmire should examine the futile efforts to return the world to its September 10 state, a task to which much of the media, the academe and the cultural elite have proved unequal. Because futile. Another and taller tower began to fall that day and its occupants are still in it. ...-

Isn’t it wonderful how intelligent the Dippers are. They picked up that Taliban jargon in an instant. Incredible! Must be all those years of living off other peoples’ labour. We know they’re the first to want to share your wealth.

I do have a nagging question about Taliban Jacko though. Does supporting the Taliban, et al mean that they gave up the fight for human rights? The two are not compatible; they are diametrically opposites. Just asking.

One other thing for Taliban Jacko, when you go visit your brothers-in-cause, singing Kumbaya is a no-no. Leave the guitar and wife at home. Also, the moustache needs a full facial beard. It’s a set. Like an open shirt and windbreaker at union meetings.

I think this is the most wonderful site around, and people like ET, snowbunny, etc, have greatly helped my outlook at this point.God bless everyone.
I cannot imagine what the mirror looks like in Jack's life. That comment about being a parasite was bang on.Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Craig Oliver is indeed a parasite,a legend in his own mind.Useless tool.I thought the gallery was on strike, trying to save Canadian values.I'm guessing he's pissing away his chance at a senate seat.oops.

Yeah I could just see Craig Oliver "in a street fight". He'd be going "Please mithter don't hurt me.. I got a wife and kids, anna dog anna golfish named Splash, and don't hurt me p-p-p-PULEEZE. I just lost my Lieberal gravy train. Pity me!".

As a bye-stander I'd hand the assailant a stick saying" give Him a couple just for being a goddamed snivelling media liar."

Pants-on-fire, we'll beat the fire out with that stick.

Craggy Oliver with CTV(Tass) is just as bad as any of the CBCpravda, maybe worse because Tass pretends they are under the banner on free enterprize whereas CBCpravda are blatant toadies for the former liberal regime. actually , with the libs in limboland , they are blatant Jack Layton fans.

What the hell is the softwood lumber deal? Is it the same deal Clinton gave to that Indonesian or Malaysian millionaire guy for all that timber, so he could overnight in the Blue (or whatever) room of the White House? Most Americans have no idea or have heard nothign of it - does Canada depend on softwood for oil? Does the armed forces of Canada depend on it? Does it make good Drum cigarette-rollign paper? Is Bush to blame for flying fake softwood-model planes into the New York towers and the Pentagon - brcause they could dissappear so easily?
I'm sorry, but the softwood thing - it's never ever heard of down here in the Blue-Blue state of Californistan where Bush Bashing has it's own special sense of urgency. Sorry.
I kinda like Harper, he's not a putz.

t. schmuck esq. : Have you been around long?

From the very beginning: the father of lies. Serpent, tail. Fits.

I watch CTV like I watch CBC , with the morbid facination of a dog examining puke.

Schmuck said:
"well snowbunnie, if the americans didnt cheat lie and steal on softwood lumber, then I wouldnt have that to point out regardless of the date."

Typical of how an issue can be twisted and stated as though it is 'fact'.
Not that this is the topic tonight. But I will say this: NAFTA has no problem with the softwood lumber companies who fall under the proper catagories and they have enjoyed 'free trade' with the US since the inception.
Those who continue to 'subsidize', to the US unfairly as they see it fall under the catagory that has caused all the ruckus..
It is not right to call the Americans cheats and liars simply because you don't understand the issues and are too lazy to find out for yourself.

Aside from whatever your opinion is and how you came to have it, the issue tonight is PM Harper and President Bush..both fine men who I am proud to say lead us in these troubled times.
It is a time for reflection and prayer for all those who paid the price 5 years ago and to appreciate our fine leaders Harper and Bush who have spoken to their people tonight with force, hope and direction for us in the future.
No more needs to be said about it. Just for the moment be glad in our hearts we have these men to lead us.

There could be hope for Canada yet. Thank God Canada is now lead by a decent man with some principles and integrity. What an incredible contrast to your former leadership.

Sincerely,
An American Bastard

Excellent and well said, Nicole.

As for the water issue.... does anyone remember just WHO owns the Oglala Aquifer?? - yep, our ole friend, Maurice Strong and company...actually I think the ranch under which the aquifer lies is in his wife's name?? And who did he buy it from?
Wasn't it a Saudi? .... then there are all those coal reserves in Utah Clinton sold to China.
A lot goes on we should know about but all too often find out too late.
What I do know is we had better get behind our leaders now we have a couple of good ones and make sure they get the support they need to fight this madness. And then when their time is up to see to it that people of decency and principle are voted into these vital jobs. Vital for all of us in the times ahead.

God bless Prime Minister Stephen Harper and President George W. Bush and all the men and women throughout the world who are courageously standing for truth, honour, freedom, and a future for our children.

This War on Terror is a battle for the very heart and soul of the world. It is, without hyperbole, a thunderous clash of civilizations, and our choice is between hatred, slavery, Dhimmitude, truncated humanity, endless violence, oppression, and darkness or love, freedom, truth, democracy, generosity, courage, and light.

The sheep are being separated from the goats, and it's been made clear, in just the past week, who some of the goats are.

I sent an e-mail to CTV re: Craig's commentary on Harpers speech. I am amazed at how Craig Oliver is such an expert on military matters that he can tell Canadian soldiers are losing the battle against the Taliban even though he has never served in the military, has never been to Afghanistan, and has apparently never spoken with soldiers who are fighting there. This guy must be good friends with Taliban Jack. He parrots their ideology so well.

I saw Craig on CTV's Question Period (He's back from his summer holiday in N. Korea)He was so obviously irritated by Harper and the Conservatives. Isn't it bad enough that we have a publicly funded socialist broadcaster? Can't someone put him in charge of the weather broadcasts in Alert? (Didn't he start out as a weather man on Canada AM?)

Thanks for that article Nicole. I was taken aback by the title, but it was worth the read.
