I hope they resolve to have Jack Layton implement his peace plan for Afghanistan - Jack thinks that talks with the Taliban are required to bring peace, so obviously he must know just what to say to them in order to get them to stop providing a base for international terrorist operations.
The film of Jack riding his bicycle towards the Taliban for talks will remind everyone of Jack's grandstanding antics in Toronto, but at least this time he will be implementing world peace. Thanks Jack! Don't delay!

That use of language and the tone is really odd. THe strings of WHEREAS's followed by a complete dog's breakfast of buzzwords and funded statistics and union-caregiver language -- it's a bizarre and slightly eerie way of er, organizing.
The ND's are always the strongest supporters of those causes -- gay empowerment, taxpayers being forced to subsidize urbanite's child-care -- that are most anathema to traditional families, but that's okay, because their larger concern is to create a loving home environment at the state level. That concern that reasonable people have for their own dependents, the Dippers express for way more people each time they shout "Show me the money!"
"WHEREAS there is a strong positive correlation between youth being involved in community activities and their disengagement from anti-social or illegal behaviours..." apparently they will create a funded parenting-state that will dispense funds to ensure a "positive developmental environment" that is "wecloming" and "safe".

WHEREAS Canada has signed both the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights and the
UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which include the right of each person to the
inheritance of humanitys culture and to the fulfillment of their own potential,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the NDP declares and strives to uphold the principle
that every child has the right to nurture and upbringing which affirms the childs right to its
own innate sexual orientation and to its own sense of sexual identity, and that protecting these
rights is a responsibility of the institutions of Canadian society.
And what culture would that be, the richness of sexual behavior as described in Kraft-Ebing's Psychopathia Sexualis?
Those who advocate prohibition of discrimination based on sexual orientation seem to be surprisingly ignorant of sexual pathology. In the past I've derived much amusement when I suggested to such people that once the sexual discrimination laws they want are passed, they should next work on removing restrictions on livestock in cities. Bestiality is just as valid a sexual orientation as homosexuality and far safer as I haven't heard of a single case of HIV transmitted between sheep and man. The usual approach of people when I make this comment is "bestiality is illegal", but once I remind them that not that long ago homosexual acts were also illegal and that in our enlightened society we should strive to break down legal prohibitions on some peoples inate desire for inter-species sexual contact, usually they decline to continue the discussion. I've never had a need to bring up paraphilias, exhibitionism, sadomasochism and much more of the rich pathology of human sexual orientations which must be protected from censure by the enenlightened among us.
NAMBLA is probably a strong supporter of this NDP resolution as they know with absolute certainty that the inate desire of young male children is to engage in sexual activity with older males. This "innate sexual orientation" may require a little work to be released, but with enough toys and candy, young boys will live up to their sexual potential in keeping with the wishes of the UN and other progressive groups. Another NDP resolution proposes opposition to the right-wing fascist war-mongering agenda of raising the age of sexual consent, and I'm sure that NAMBLA will be voting 100% for the NDP in the next election.

And to be honest the last one scares the crap out of me.
Jack Layton and his NDP are such a joke they even refuse to aknowledge my emails to them - emails regarding what the tired NDP government in saskatchewan has done to me. No response from them despite many emails sent.
Really - i have direct experiance with the 'dark side' of the NDP 'republic' - of course saskatchewan is the home of the C.C.F who later became N.D.P. - yes - they have 'socialized' everything here - including our rights - which they see as endlessly mutable variables.
Jack Layton is a joke - there is only one thing he did that was good - he helped induce the election that brought a real party to power - that brought a real leader into the chief executive.

Analysis: Harper has botched Afghan issue
Toronto Star - 2 hours ago
OTTAWA—If a federal election had taken place yesterday, the Afghan mission would likely have cost Stephen Harper his government. Against the backdrop of a weekend of multiple Canadian casualties topped by ...
The NDP will pick up seats next election due to their superior foreign policy. The Tories will lose seats due to their preposterous foreign policy. That is a mathematical certainty. Laugh all you want at the silly Dippers now, because as Canada's only party capable of cashing in on the electorate's widespread dissatisfaction with the "war" on "terror" they are poised to clean up next election, and no amount of angry, angry words posted on the internet will change that, folks.
I agree with parts of what you say. The NDP will pick up votes and likely seats. The CPC wont lose seats. The NDP and CPC will be carving up the Liberal roast.
The NDP gets the MoveOn.org eh types and the CPC will gwt some of the economic conservatives in the Liberal party. The right wing of the Liberal party will be the last to abandon ship though.
Fun watching the destruction of the Liberal party. Then the next fun will be watching the NDP tear itself apart 10 years from now as the "left left" leaves them in a fit of pique because the leader tries to moderate them to win power.
Canada desperately needs the NDP and its supporters.
If only for comic relief. Just read Bob's comment above. HAR HAR HAR. You're always good for a belly laugh Bob.
UPDATE: CP picks up the story. From the Montreal Gazette:
OTTAWA -- Quebec members of the NDP hope to win the hearts of francophones by proposing that Canada become a republic and by adopting a conciliatory tone with sovereigntists.
They are two resolutions that will be put forward at the 22nd biennial New Democratic convention, which begins Friday in Quebec City.
The party hasn't yet released the motions that will be debated at the national convention, but conservative blogger Stephen Taylor obtained and released them Tuesday on his website.
The motion that risks being most controversial would see the NDP lead an active campaign to remove Queen Elizabeth as head of state. ...- http://www.stephentaylor.ca/
In Quebec: Beauport--Limoilou, Charlesbourg--Haute-Saint-Charles, Jonqiere-Alma, Lévis--Bellechasse, Lotbinière--Chutes-de-la-Chaudière, Louis-Hébert, Mégantic--L'Érable, and the Pontiac. Only Bernier and Verner will keep their seats.
That's 8 seats lost for the Tories right there, just in 1 province.
In Ontario, John Baird is gone. So is Tony Clement. Other ridings the CPC are likely to lose include Burlington, Barrie, Halton (Garth barely won last time, now he has to run on Afghanistan), Glengarry-Prescott-Russell, Niagara Falls, Northumberland-Quinte West (CFB Trenton wives will finish the Tories), Oshawa, Peterborough, Simcoe North, Whitby_Oshawa. And I haven't included Diane Finley, yet.
Twelve CPC seats lost in Ontario, 8 in Quebec. Can they make it up elsewhere? The CPC may pick up a couple of seats in the Atlantic region and could lose a couple in the Praries/West but that's about it.
Back in May only 57% of Tory voters supported the Afghanistan invasion and occupation; that number has certainly gone down in light of recent deaths. And we know only 32% of Canadians supported Harper's assertion that Israel's pre-meditated invasion and bombing of Lebanon was "measured". We - the Canadian people - are revolted by the "war" on "terror" and the war crimes Harper implicitly supports; unless he dummies up very fast we'll never trust him or his kind again to run this great country.
Believe me, Stephen, I'm waaaaaay more conservative than you or anyone else here, and I have made about 100 comments here at SDA to that effect. I want a generation of CPC government - which is why I'm disappointed that Harper is failing so miserably on foreign policy.
NDP to vote on whether troops are like terrorists. If this makes it to a vote they are all certifiable wacknuts.
We all know there are no principles the NDP sanction fighting a war for. That would include all the freedoms we now enjoy thanks to the efforts and supreme sacrifices of our soldiers in two world wars. What does that tell you?
Jack has become an embarassment here every time he opens his hairy yap on the Afghanistan mission. Let's hope it doesn't travel too far. It would not be the most uplifting for our soldiers to hear, though no doubt they will.
There ought to be a law against such stupidity, and treasonous banter when we have our soldiers dying in the field to make our world a safer place.

Jack Layton's latest musings prove that beyond doubt. Nor can they handle money at all. They give it away to maintain the welfare state and the libs will steal it ....
IF the libs get back in they raise taxes and give all our money away to their friends and pretend they don't know anything about it.
WHEREAS the children ( libs and nippers)must not get their hands on the controls of this country.
WHEREAS in a time of war we need adults ( the Conservatives) running the show and that includes the military staying in Afghanistan and taking seriously the threat to this nation terror represents!
WHEREAS the New Democratic Party had its origin in the minds and hearts of people who
wanted to make the world a better place; and
WHEREAS increasingly the world which best describes the world in which we live is corrupt,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that in the society to be proposed by the New Democratic
Party there shall be, at a minimum:
1. Equal numbers of women and men representatives in legislatures and all governing bodies;
2. Absence of control of the media by the rich, government, or any special interest group;
3. Elections uninfluenced by the rich, and based on principles rather than posturing;
4. Accountability between elections of representatives to their constituents;
5. Total elimination of spin doctors, consultants and speech writers, so that all policy arises from
a genuine concern for justice and so that tax dollars are spent on programs instead of a
manipulation of the masses.
I remain curious how they intend to effect such a change.

WHEREAS citizens of Canada are subject to and benefit from the provisions of the Charter of
Rights and Freedoms; and
WHEREAS the prevalence of poverty, homelessness and insecurity has become a marked

WINNIPEG NORTH NDP
And to be honest the last one scares the crap out of me.
Maybe the Taliban would hijack Jack and hold him to ransom.
"Maybe the Taliban would hijack Jack and hold him to ransom".
What, and threaten to release him if we don't pay up?

Bob,
I agree with parts of what you say.
Bob, get used to a generation of CPC government.
Canada desperately needs the NDP and its supporters.
If only for comic relief. Just read Bob's comment above. HAR HAR HAR. You're always good for a belly laugh Bob.
The phrase "stuck on stupid" comes to mind.
The motion that risks being most controversial would see the NDP lead an active campaign to remove Queen Elizabeth as head of state. ...-

"The CPC wont lose seats."
False, and I can name the ridings they will lose:

You're correct - without a doubt! It's really the - No Democracy Party
NDP, the rectum of politics.
