GreenStone Media — hardly a ripple in the blogosphere

That new all-woman media enterprise, GreenStone Media, backed by Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda, has a splashy website to promote the all-talk radio network. The website also lists some of Gloria’s favourite blogs. But based on the traffic patterns on the first blog listed, it seems like getting the nod from GreenStone Media makes no difference to a blog’s traffic.

Which makes me wonder just how many people are going to the GreenStone Media website…and then how many people are listening to the radio shows.

Not too many, apparently. But judge for yourself.

  2. As I said over at Steve’s blog, I can’t even be bothered to check out Steinem’s and Fonda’s site/blog. In fact, I can’t think of anything more ho-hum or debilitating than a women’s Web site for women only. Yuck. I already know that whatever they’ve got on offer will be past its sell-by-date (harking back to the feminists’ hayday in the ’70s), will be predictable, and will be infuriating.
The feminists’ fatal flaw, leading to terminal idiocy, is their assumption that all females think alike. ‘Talk about being ‘patronizing’–in this case, ‘matrinizing,’ as though women aren’t just as capable of stereotyping as men are…
I, for instance, think very differently from Gloria Steinem: I have children, I have stayed home to care for them, I married at a much younger age than she did, and I do not live in palatial splendour in New York City, but in much more modest circumstances.
‘Last time I looked, Steinem and I were both women, but for the reasons cited above, not to mention that I do not consider “a woman’s right to choose” to be self-evident, we live in very different circumstances and, therefore–nothing mysterious about it or traitorous on my part–we have very different views of the world–of motherhood, of childrearing, of “women’s rights,” of nearly anything you can name.
We’d probably agree that hot flashes are a drag and that Greek beaches are nice places to hang out on, but on most things we would be bound to hold different opinions because our life circumstances are so different and because she’s a militant, radical feminist and I’m not.
Note to Janey One Note and Gloria: Not all women think alike and not all women are feminists…
    ‘Got it?

  3. I am quite fortunate in that most of the women in my life, be they wife, friend or colleague, have the same general opinion of the femminists as BATB. It is a pretty safe bet that their website is a good waste of bandwidth (kind of like brabble). I’ll not be visiting.
BTW, I’ll hold a door open for just about anyone because it is a nice thing to do. Sorry , no hidden agenda or subvertive exploitation of anyone.

  4. “GreenStone” – it symbolizes green with envy. Penis envy. BTW, the world’s first penis transplant was rejected this week.
    Coincidence? I think not.

  5. Feminists are a disgrace to their gender.
Jane and Gloria seem to be looking for an audience to help them expunge their personal regrets and failures at this late point in their lives.
Sad pair and totally full of themselves. Sad too are the people who look to them for succor.

  6. Maybe I’m showing my age, but I’d rather suck a dead donkey’s butt than have anything to do with Hanoi Jane.

  7. Wouldn’t a live monkeys butt be more disgusting?
Just a couple of people still living in the past, unable to get past there 15 minutes of fame.

  8. If these two really cared about women’s rights, they’d be broadcasting in Arabic in ME markets.
I think this is why the Leftist message is beginning to fail in the West. These freaks continue shrieking at tolerant westerners while ignoring abject rights abuses elsewhere in the world, which indicates to thinking people that their positions are based on politics and not principled beliefs.

Are Belgian Women Endangered? – For now, only if theyre Muslim.
    City Journal ^ | 19 September 2006 | Theodore Dalrymple
In Brussels, which somehow manages to combine the grayness of bureaucracy with the gaudiness of modern popular cultures worst aspects, I stayed in a hotel among whose amenities was 24-hour access to pornography. Thus were freedom of expression and my human rights protected at the same time.
In my hotel room was also a copy of The Golden Book of Belgium 2001. Perhaps the intervening years had not been so golden. The Golden Book of that year, however, was dedicated to the place of women in Belgium, as if they were an endangered species which might, with careful nurturing, yet survive, like the rhinoceros in Sumatra or the sea eagle in Scotland.
There was, for example, an article dedicated to the place of women in the Belgian armed forces. Its illustrationyoung female mechanics in overalls clambering over a jet fighter planebrought to mind the era of Soviet propaganda, and I recalled a cartoon published in the now-defunct humorous magazine, Punch, just before the Moscow Olympics. A female athlete of masculine aspect undergoes a sex test: if she is able to change a tractor tire in less than five minutes, she really is a woman.
Oddly enough, The Golden Book of Belgium did not mention one important aspect of the place of women in Belgian society.
Walking through the city center, littered and crumbling, I was invited into several sex shows by men who did not easily take no for an answer. Drunks were sleeping in doorways, and very large numbers of male youths loitered with goodness knows what intent. It remains true that Belgian beer is the best (and most varied) in the world, but not even this fact could lend charm to the scene. One had the impression of walking through an updated print by George Grosz.
A very large proportion of the loiterers were Moroccan in origin, dressed in the international uniform of the modern slum. They seemed drawn to this seedy environment as flies to a carcass. It took me a few moments to realize that not a single woman of Moroccan origin was to be seen there. Where were they, the women of Moroccan origin? What was their place in Belgian society? …-

  10. My thinking goes to gynocentricity. Our media is already heavily over-centered on female issues. Adding more drives female fear which in turn drives an increase in female depression: Plus, a gynocentric media drives more males into dropping out of society, males effectively having nothing to do with the rest of society. Both things are a serious danger to all people.

  11. Gender is what drives the Left. Gays, Lesbians, Gender Non-Specifics and Feminists all have a home with the Left. The Media are LEFT. The heterosexual male and female are no longer the Norm, in fact they are discriminated against, they are the Freaks.

  12. Imagine GLORIA STENEM,JANE FONDA and CINDY SHEEHAN standing around the cualdron on halloween dropping weird things in to the WITCHES CHANT by WILLIAM SHAKESPEAR
