Via Maz2, the Red Cross press release that seems to have been missed by most of the leading media outlets. It's dated 30 July, 2006;
In today's military operations by the Israel Defense Forces against the village of Qana, a building sheltering civilians was directly hit. At the time of writing, the Lebanese Red Cross Society and the Lebanese Civil Defense have extracted 28 bodies from the rubble, 19 of whom are children..
The Red Cross is no friend of the Israeli State. If they can't find more than 28 bodies, (and western media has seen no more than 12) why does the CBC (among others) continue to report the number as 54?
Last Updated Thu, 03 Aug 2006 08:08:57 EDT
CBC NewsIsrael said Thursday that its bombing of the Lebanese village of Qana, in which 54 civilians died, was a mistake and that its attack guidelines would be evaluated and updated as a result.
But then, the CBC is no friend of Israel, either.
Or, maybe they've decided to stay on Hezbollah's "good side"...
HEZBOLLAH THREATENS JOURNALISTS: Christopher Allbritton, reporting from Lebanon, says "To the south, along the curve of the coast, Hizbullah is launching Katyushas, but I’m loathe to say too much about them. The Party of God has a copy of every journalist’s passport, and they’ve already hassled a number of us and threatened one.".

The CBC, CTV, Toronto Star, G&M - all seem to support the ideology of the victim, which is usually confined, not to actual victims of for example, thugs, but to the thugs, ie., to 'those without abilities and therefore, those without real power and who act instead as thugs/bullies'.
This is actually an attitude requiring a strong sense of one's own superiority to 'those without abilities and without power'. Therefore, my conclusion is that the CBC, CTV, Toronto Star, G&M and etc journalists and editors operate with the perspective they do, because it reinforces their own self-defined sense of their own superiority. That includes a whole host of them, from Margolis, Siddiqui, Travers, Lawrence Martin, Tabers, Galloway, on and on.
Focusing on the victim ensures that they feel superior, for if they focused on the active from their armchair, while they did nothing but sit in that armchair, would make them feel inferior.
We see this in the example noted - where the CBC is promoting a false and inflated figure of casualties. But, is the CBC investigating the reports that Qana is not a real 'hit' but instead was a photo setup, carefully prepared by Hezbollah, for the world's cameras?
Id like to see PeterPansbridge issue an apology for false information.
he can beg innocence on the latest as CBCpravda has him exiled on a ship in the northwest passage.
ET, are you for real? israel has admitted to the bombing in qana and called it a mistake. give your head a shake, you're delusional.
where the bug - no, I'm not delusional. Israel did hit Qana, but whether the victims were killed by the hit, whether they were 'sleeping' as the battle raged around them or weren't even in the building; the numbers (28 vs 50), and the time of the fall of the building, are up for debate. Go to Michelle Malkin and pajama game for details.
How would Hizbullah have gotten a copy of journalists passports?
I wonder, just wonder if copies of those passports came from Lebenon officials??? Did anyone hear Adler this week, with a reporter from, I think the National Post saying that Hizbollah were threatening those same reporters? Why though, do the people on our shores also tell the same story that is coming out of Lebenon? Maybe finally some truth in reporting is needed!!!! I wonder where the blogs would be today if we got the truth, not the reporters' version of the story.

"How would Hizbullah have gotten a copy of journalists passports?"
By simply demanding them as a prerequisite for reporting from their territory.
In Muzzi countries where I've worked, its always standard practise to copy a passport as you enter the country. And seeing as the Hez-Choppers are for all practical purposes running the Lebanese government, it would be childs' play for them to get a copy.
Even Human Rights Watch couldn't come up with a figure higher than 28 deaths for the Qana bombing.
Meanwhile, Ahmadinejad was speaking today to a group of Muslim leaders. He has the solution to the Middle East crisis - destroy Israel!
Oh, for crying out loud...
bug:
Ask yourself this: Why, if every other nation got their civilians out of this area, didn't Lebanese government do the same? Why didn't hezbollah get it's own out of the way?
Why did the bodies have rigor mortis only a few hours after the attack? You know it takes 12 hours right?
hizzbollah fights from behind the burkas and diapers of their own, just like the hamass do. And LSM in Canada does the same. Strikes at Jews in the media are common here, so not surprised that they won't retract the lies they spew because the ignorant suck it up like thirsty blood suckers. Besides it's only the
"joooos" being dissed by the fiberal puppets that are the LSM here, no prob right?
The Queen of the Left & her mouth at it again making no sense whats so ever in questioning Peter MacKay.
MacKay "there is a marked difference between a democratic country defending the lives of it's citizens & a Terrorist army intent on death & destruction"
Good for you Peter
And as usual the Left just don't get it.

National Post
After reading this post at approx. 9:00am EDT, I emailed the CBC under the "typos" feature.
I asked why their numbers were different than the International and Lebanese Red Cross and did they indeed have a better source for their facts.
I just re-read the article and the text has been changed to " a number of casualties".
For what it's worth. Being the CBC, it's not worth much.
This is what CBC is telling us now.
"Initial reports put the death toll from the attack at 54. But Human Rights Watch has revised that figure to 28 people killed, with another 13 missing."
They can't let go.
On the topic of the smarmy MSM, I spotted this earlier today, across the pond, the increasingly vile BBC aired a new comedy show which found humor in the 9/11 attack and in the assassination of Tony Blair. Michelle Malkin has the story too.

We are never going to win the WOT and salvage the wreckage of what socialism has done to the very fabric of our society over the past 40 years, if we don't dismantle the monopoly that the left, which I now consider completely out-of-the-closet terrorist sympathizers, has over the public airwaves and print.
Every time I think that the media has hit rock bottom, they can't get any worse, they never fail to repulse me even more. You just can't get any lower than finding humor in 9/11.
Michelle Malkin has the email link to the BBC.

Let me try to understand this: 54 dead civilians is morally distinct from 41 (28 plus 13 "missing"). Perhaps someone can explain the distinction, but I can't see it.
Meanwhile, Israel has admitted their "error" in this affair. Yup, the IDF did it. That's not enough to shake some here out of their delusions, though.
Where, however, are the rocket-launchers? How did they get in and out of Qana so easily when the roads are impassable?
And why did the IDF change its story?
Yeah, I would encourage all to keep debating how many children or civilians died. Afterall, the number is so important right - it's not the concept.
Somewhat related, I found this point in made on another site:
"The Hizbollah do take cover beside civilian houses - just as Israeli troops entering Bint Jbeil last week also used civilian homes for cover."
Nah, that can't be. Israeli soldiers using buildings for cover? No, they are too brave for that.
Israeli soldiers using buildings for cover?
Makes sense to me. Only a brain dead moron would engage in combat in the open or suggest it. But your point was to vilify the IDF. Right? Using children rather than a wall for cover is your Hezbollah buddies strategy.
Tell us about all of the plans and efforts that Hezbollah made to get civilians out of their territory? I mean over the months of lobbing missiles at Israeli civilians they must have made some evacuation plan for their civilians knowing that they had created a war zone for them.

Canadian Muslim Official Quits
Tarek Fatah, communications director of the Muslim Canadian Congress, has resigned, citing fears for his safety: Fearing for safety, Muslim official quits. (Hat tip: LGF readers.)
Tarek Fatah, the outspoken, controversial communications director of the Muslim Canadian Congress, has resigned, citing concerns for his safety and that of his family.
Mr. Fatah said he will also resign from the MCC’s board, severing all official ties with the organization he helped found. “It’s not just for me. It’s for my wife and my daughters,” he said in an interview. “Part of it is also to get out of the limelight.”
Mr. Fatah’s socially liberal views have always been controversial within the Muslim community, and in the past month he has been the subject of an e-mail campaign aimed at the Canadian news media.
In his resignation letter to the board, Mr. Fatah wrote that he wanted to step down because of “an increasing heavy load of work.” He said he will stay on in his current capacity until the MCC finds a replacement.
Along with his resignation, Mr. Fatah has filed a report with Toronto Police detailing what he says are a number of threats he has received since 2003. A police investigation is under way.
This article describes Fatah as a socially liberal Muslim. That may be true. But he’s also a first-rate conspiracy lunatic, as this post from last June shows: lgf: MCC Expresses Relief, Conspiracy Theories.
The MCC is determined to fight the extremists at all levels, while maintaining its resolve to expose the agenda of the United States and neo-liberalism.
Tarek Fatah, communications director of the MCC said, “It is ironic that Muslim extremists are portraying themselves as anti-imperialist, when in fact Al-Qaeda and the Taliban are nothing more but a creation of the CIA.” ...-

It was from the Independent. The content was sent to me, so I don't have a link.
But the references are even in Haaretz...
Wounded troops describe Bint Jbail battle as 'hell on earth'
By Nir Hasson and Tomer Levi, Haaretz Correspondents
"Most of the dead and seriously wounded are those from the initial wave of ground troops which tried to enter one of the homes in Bint Jbail. Sergeant Tzachi Duda suffered light injuries in his leg due to shrapnel."
(Duda is an Israeli soldier, in case there is any confusion, along with the dead and wounded being referred to)
or
"Some of the wounded were in an open field and others behind walls as well as inside homes."

Evidence Mounts that Kana "Massacre" Was a Fake
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=109072
Churchill said that Islam is the most retrograde force in the world. Indeed.
The evidence from the worldwide Islamic War of Genocide, of which the current war in the Middle East is a part, shows that Islam is a pagan religion; a death religion which indulges in satanic rites, including the sacrifice to Moloch, aka Allah, of children and woman.
The murder of children in Beslan, the staged "atrocity" at Qana, and more, is prima facie evidence.
Islam is listening to its psychotic, child-hating god, aka Allah. This god tells them that there shall be no other god but Allah. Kill the children Allah says; Allah fears the child; Allah knows the Child will replace Allah. Therefore, Allah must kill the children. ...-

Came across this on another thread. Thought I would repost:
The default religion of human beings is the practice of human sacrifice. This pathological virus has been planted deep in the heart of the human species. Virtually all primitive cultures and ancient civilizations engage in it.
The foundation stone of the Abrahamic religions is the injunction against human sacrifice.
Paganism has the advantage of being older than Judaism, Christianity, Islam. And it is a faith which arouses most hatred in the Bible.
Islam of today seems to have more in common with the pagan religions it tried to supersede than its Abrahamic roots. No clearer case of child sacrifice exists now than Islam's cult of suicide bombings and use of human shields. Who is that voice telling Muslims to murder children, both their own and others? Could it be the same voice that told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac? Could it possibly not be the same voice?
The story of Abraham and Isaac is primordial. It is the archetypal tale of how we as barbarous pagans stopped listening to our psychotic, child-hating god(s) and instead have taken a right turn in history, discovered a new God, and became a new people, a modern people
Now there's a chance the Qana "massacre" was a fraud.

Where's the outrage on this?
"Gen. Eshel also said that the building was used by Hizbullah to store explosives. This was supported by a letter by Dr. Mounir Herzallah, a southern Lebanese Shiite, who wrote that Hizbullah terrorists came to his town, dug a munitions depot and then built a school and a residence directly over it."
Oh that's right, Terrorist war-crimes are somehow justified in the "Liberal" mind.
Dawg - how did the journalists make their way there if the roads were "impassable"?
And, pause for a moment - just long enough to truly consider the answer to this question - what do you suppose the reaction in Western media would be if the Israeli government were caught inflating civilian death counts?
To help you through this process: the story isn't that 26 killed is "better" than 56. The story is that a) Hazbollah (and the Palestinians) routinely fabricate these stories b) are repeated exposed for doing so and c) not one whisper of expose' (or often, even retraction) from a Western media that seems determined to remain as deaf, dumb and blind as it takes to perpetuate the script.
I have to say Kate, I'm really disappointed. It seems no matter what, you just can't accept that civilians have died due to Israeli bombing. What? The Israeli's kill civilians?
I have seen many unfortunate things said on this site and many good things. It doesn't take much to realize the amount of destruction in Lebanon. Do you need to hold a dead Lebanese child in your arms before you believe?
Let me put this another way for the simpletons on the left. Imagine your neighbor has a BIG dog. They feed it cheap dog food (Ol' Roy?), not the stuff that makes nice compact and healthy turds - BIG ones. Your neighbour, who of course doesn't speak the same language you do, has a nasty habit of throwing their dog's big turds over the fence and into your backyard. Occasionally, just for drama, they put a flaming bag of it on your front porch. On the hood of your car. On your kid's bicycle seat. This goes on for years, even decades. You call the police, but they do nothing. They may telephone your neighbour and tell them what they're doing is against city bylaw 15 section 59, but they don't follow up or enforce it. You can't move for reasons beyond your control. How long before you would feel like bopping them over the head with their own shovel?
Let me put this another way for the simpleton named Chazz: Go to do some research and you'll find how how often the Israelis were violating international law on that border, constantly. Then we you've read about that, you should go and offer to shovel their "turd" and ram it down your own throat.
