The "doctored photo" kind of thing has probably been standard fare for the MSM for decades. But now the Internet and blogs have pulled back the mask. There may well be hell to pay if and when "news" organizations are convicted some day of, what ? Treason ? What else could one call doctoring photos in order to aid the cause of a terrorist group against us.

The "doctored photo" kind of thing has probably been standard fare for the MSM for decades.

Probably more like about 10-15 years. Prior to the PC digital editing era it wouldn't have been practical for them to bother with this kind of editing as the labor involved would be too much with short deadlines. It wasn't all that long ago when a reporter just had an ASCII (or 3270) terminal on their desk to prepare their stories with.

Its a double edged sword though - the same technology that enables them do concoct such fakery allows us to detect same.

It's amazing to me that Americans constantly overlook the fact that the Iraqi Kurds (primarily Sunni Muslim, albeit not fundamentalist) have created a thriving environment in the years since Saddam was overthrown.

It isn't Islam that is the problem. It's the jihadist mentality, the fundamentalism, that is both primitive and hateful. The Kurds have even recently been advertising in the States, with myriad happy faces saying "Thank you, America" on our televisions during many of our news shows.

Some of the Iraquis have stood up, and some have their lives on the line.

We need to neutralize Iran so that it is kept out of Iraqi politics. Until then, the balance of Iraq will be nothing but fermented and deadly trouble.

The news has had their spin on things since it was in print. It's just another form of propaganda. Instead of them dropping pamphlets on the Italians they are throwing them at your doorstep.

Grandad; could you please check that link and the date of the story. I think it is as a result of the Danish Cartoons a few months ago. I tried the link you gave and the page can't be found. Also there is nothing mentioned on any of the blogs.

The print of the original shot on MM's site (from Reuter's) shows a deliberate attempt by somebody in the Reuter's feeding chain to make the fire more siginificant than it is, the destruction more severe. The original shot, now offered by Reuter's is taken from a more distant view, and as such puts the fire in proper perspective. smokey yes, but the whole scene is not as severe as the altered picture tries to show. This is not simply about a bad editing job to make the picture more printable, its an blatant attempt to alter the news itself. The stringer should move to advertizing. Reuters management needs to check into a retreat and re-explore the meaning "corporate values".

In my opinion the altered photograph would be used to prove that more buildings had collapsed/burned than actually did. This propaganda is being used to incite more outrage on behalf of the terrorists, a crime in itself.
