Lands Provided to Natives to assure Native Cooperation
1. The Natives will be given ownership of Port Maitland property some 1500 acres

The interesting thing about the situation in Caledonia is that the Six Nations are not a Canadian "First Nation". They are originally from upper New York state. The Haldimand tract was granted to them as compensation for their service to the British during the American revolution. So what makes them any different from any other immigrant group that has come to Canada and acquired a tract of land? There may be some complicated native land claims, but this shouldn't be one of them. This should be a civil matter before the courts to be decided based on legal, registered land titles and transfers. The federal government should not be involved, and the provincial government's role should be to ensure that the rule of law be upheld.
There is something very wrong going on here.

I also nited tha arrest accounts show an almost 100% trend for natives to be carrying offensive weapons.
My greatest concern is that by that toad McGuinty caving in to this depraved ciminality and fraudulent land claim, he has set the stage for an escallation in these situations. Native raceteering cartels now see that this form of public shake down works and that crime pays....there will be more.
To a larger extent, by the government "negotiating" with such renegade elements and their surreal fantacies of land claims, it legitimizes these claims to a degree by precedent. A direct effect will be the loss of value to real estate and developed property as the native shake down involves a claim which attaches a contention to clear title on all deeded property in the province.
As such this dullard McSquinty's attempts to sweep this under the carpet with pay offs and capitulation threatens the land base in the province. It will take a serious and focused provincial and federal leadership to shut these frivilous native land claim racketeering cartels down definitively....and start prosecuting the instigators for criminal conspiracy.
Time for all governments to pull out all recognised treaties, determine which are reasonable within modern legal and social relaities and constitutionally disregard all the wild,surreal frivilous claims made with junk revisionist myth spinning...any treaty ot claim made by the "oral tradition" of historic events should be specifically disallowed in a proper court of law. Only band agreements made with the government of Canada post 1933 concern this nation...agreements made directly with the British crown are void as they have exceed the tradition of limitations on renegotiating terms and on claims against disbanded sovereign alignments.

Boniface has been under fire from rank-and-file officers over the handling of the Caledonia standoff with native protesters. Many of them believe she simply didn't provide enough leadership to the force during the crisis.
In my column June 16, I quoted Karl Walsh, president of the Ontario Provincial Police Association, saying cops felt they were like "deer in the headlights" in managing the Caledonia situation. With the Ipperwash inquiry into the 1995 shooting death of native protester Dudley George still fresh in everyone's minds, Walsh said cops on the ground in Caledonia worried that the OPP's senior ranks might not support them under similar circumstances.
"They ask, if I do hurt or kill someone, is the force going to be behind me? Is the commissioner going to be behind me? Is my association going to be behind me? Is the government going to be behind me?" he said at the time.
What burned him most was that cops had been assaulted -- with apparent impunity. He wrote to Attorney General Michael Bryant complaining about one incident where four people, all natives, were arrested. But he says three of the four failed to show up for a scheduled court appearance and the one who did appear argued that the law didn't apply to him.
Walsh was taking the high road yesterday, wishing Boniface well. The fact is, though, that a court order is a court order. Cops can't pick and chose which ones they are going to enforce. They are there to apply the law evenly.
"Unfortunately, her accomplishments were overshadowed by Caledonia, but they speak for themselves," he said.
Opposition leader John Tory was asked about Boniface's departure during a visit to Caledonia on Monday. He made the point that this amounts to an odd "missing person" report.
"When somebody disappears suddenly on a Friday morning, usually you phone police," he said.
"In this case, it was the police commissioner who disappeared early on a Friday morning." Tory added that while Boniface had put in a long and distinguished career with the OPP, "I don't think there is any question but that this whole series of incidents involving her must have had some connection to Caledonia."
