Preston Manning - The Final Round

And Calgary Grit can't bear to watch.

Our man is up against another conservative great - Bob Stanfield.

Vote with your heart.

By that, I mean the evil, black heart that makes Preston-loathing Liberals and Red Tories run crying to their mammas Child Care Professionals ...

Remember - one vote per day - because cheating is for Liberals!

Well, according to the comments on Calgary Grit's site, being part of the SDA gang makes my voting a bad thing. Pity, sigh...

It's like Al Capone once said, "Vote early, and vote often."

; )

I'm just guessing here, not having followed the link to this poll, but I suppose Calgary Grit is the one who included R. Stanfield in a list of greatest Canadian Conservatives. If so, being a Maritimer, all I can post is........

.... Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...

Enough of this popularity nonsense, here is something really important.....

Israel adds 2 nuclear-capable submarines

I won't post the link because it will be whacked in the filter, subject to release when it is no longer current. It is an AP release, courtesy of Yahoo News.

JERUSALEM - With the purchase of two more German-made Dolphin submarines capable of carrying nuclear warheads, military experts say
Israel is sending a clear message to
Iran that it can strike back if attacked by nuclear weapons.

The purchases come at a time when Iran is refusing to bow to growing Western demands to halt its nuclear program, and after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called for Israel to be "wiped off the map."

Very, very interesting action by the German Government. Definitely a friend of Israel, and democracy.

Bob Stanfield was not a conservative great.

He was a loser.

This is why the Canadian establishment heralds him the best prime minister Canada never had, because they want Conservatives to run losers.

Sorry to say it Kate, but Deifenbaker was a rube, Mulroney too slick by half, and only did one consrvative thing, otherwise played the liberal game. And Clarke was, at best, a fool.

Harper is the first Conservative prime minister since, well, Sir J.A. Who was Borden?

If I may sit astride my hobby-horse a while longer: the problem with this country is that the familly compact never ended, it morphed into the liberal establishment. This is what we have to rout out over the next ten years.

Cool your jets. I plan to link to something more substantive on that later.

Germany's actions can be explained in two words - Angela Merkel.

Manning vs Stanfield

Well I will be the unpopular one here. I actually think Stanfield was the best PM we never had because his winning would have meant no PET.

Both are good men who wanted to do the best for Canada. Bob may not have been a Conservative by current definitions, then again neither was the Social credit party of Alberta. He sure wasnt a Liberal though.

So if this were a real election I would be thrilled with whoever won. But forced to choose.....well Bob would have prevented us from PET....Manning would have saved us from Chretien, but never had a realistic chance of winning. But Calgary Grit sure got the faux bio right....20,000 votes the other way and there is absolutely nobody else I would have wanted running the country after that referendum...

I take it as a win either way, but I live in Ontario ;->

You know that Stanfield was in the right place to save this country from the ravages of the traitor Trudeau.......SIGH!!

Back to Kyle. He's upset that Kate is using her position to influence the vote, unlike the CBC using their position to influence the vote. The only difference I can see is that Kate earned her position.

Odd...when I voted, it said that I already had voted...although I had never been to that site before tonight!

Stanfield would have prevented us from PET (dangerous)....no NEP, Charter of Rights, high taxes, social activist crusades

vs.

Manning would have saved us from Chretien(annoying)

Based on that calculation, wish we'd had Stanfield!

Isn't it fun to really annoy a liberal? :-)

(Small "l", generically speaking...any liberal in Western Civilization. As long as they adhere to liberalism, they're all toxic.)

As a conservative American, I'm particularly fond of tormenting mindless, knee-jerk Democrats.

One good way is to quote to a Democrat from the Congressional Record some of the many things that the likes of Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry said about Saddam Hussein and his regime, repeatedly, throughout the 90's. They were all hot to take out Saddam & Co. back then...

Kate:

I believe the correct word is Re"Merkel"ble!!

I have to agree--Stanfield would have been so much better for the reason he would have put a crimp in PET's agenda...

rebarbarian: [Kyle is] upset that Kate is using her position to influence the vote, unlike the CBC using their position to influence the vote. The only difference I can see is that Kate earned her position.

The more fundamental difference is that this vote doesn't count.

Mark M,

It's like Al Capone once said, "Vote early, and vote often." Did Capone say that? I heard it a lot on Air America radio during the 2004 US election, but I didn't know who had said it first. I did understand what it means, however.
