Blast From The Past

That is a blast. Thanks. That's what is so great about Americans. They defend freedom, those who forget it are spoiled and self absorbed. I stumbled across a blog today, Little Bit Tired, Little Bit Worn (sadly no recent posts) whose motto is: If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.

Thanks for that Kate. I strongly suspect that the reason Wacko Jacko and many Liberanos don't want soldiers going to Afganistan is for fear that those soldiers will come home!! I do not think that we would have smoking bans or same sex marriage legislation or a gun registry if the soldiers from WWI and WWII had not been too old and too few to raise a little hell. There are too many old hippy type males in our nation right now. We need more Darryl Stinsons and David Anderson's (NOT the frail, pale one from Victoria, the good looking one from Cypress Hills Grasslands) in this country. War Vets, like farmers and ranchers, usually don't suffer fools very well.

A story like this makes me wonder if Robert A Heinlein drew inspiration from it for his novel, "Starship Troopers". It seems to me to fit the premise of the military re-establihing order after the collapse of society.

Perhaps all of the lazy people in this country who look for their lame excuses not to vote (all the politicians are the same, I don't have time, blah blah blah) should read this during the next election campaign. If we had had these same defenders of our freedoms we may not have had who knows how many years years of liberal corruption and incompetence. This duty is ours and we must defend it.

A true citizen-controlled democracy! Cheri, that's a great quote!
Could you imagine that happening in Canada? I'm quite impressed.

haha.

Great story.

In the 40's or 50's my uncle got his watch taken by a Southern cop who stopped him for speeding on a drive to Florida.

The South was a bit of a different country for many many years.

I think the North won the war and then lost a lot of the peace to Jim Crow laws and crooked carpetbaggers (post Civil War profiteers).

Too bad they weren't there in 2000 when Bush stole the election.

Hey Iberia;

Have you ever stopped to consider that perhaps it's YOU that has a problem and not necessarily the CBC? See especially definition 2:

paranoia >noun 1 a mental condition characterized by delusions of persecution, unwarranted jealousy, or exaggerated self-importance. 2 unjustified suspicion and mistrust of others.

Perhaps you and the others here who constantly complain about the "RED MENACE" at the CBC and elsewhere are suffering a collective psychosis?

Despite it all, it's still a free country: You can keep yelling that "THE SKY IS FALLING" and the saner majority can keep ignoring you.
