The name of Canada's most politically active Volpe-friendly pharmaceutical company pops up in the most unlikely places;
Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. said the U.S. Justice Department is conducting a criminal probe of an accord that would delay generic competition to its biggest- selling drug, the Plavix blood thinner. The company learned yesterday of an investigation by the Justice Department's antitrust division, according to a statement today by the New York-based drugmaker. Bristol-Myers and partner Sanofi-Aventis SA had agreed to pay generic-drug maker Apotex Inc. an unspecified amount to stay off the market with a generic copy of Plavix until 2011.

I am deeply disturbed to see you so blatantly and racistly attack Team Volpe. Team Volpe and its supporters represent the very best of liberal democracy, as reflected in the human resource practices of such progressive corporations as Apotex.
I'm sure you'll agree with me after reading the following excerpts from www.hireimmigrants.ca/apotex_c.htm that the free market embraces the diverse, bridge-building liberal democratic values so diversly defended by the diversity of Team Volpe:
"Apotex Inc. is the largest Canadian-owned pharmaceutical organization, employing 6,000 individuals worldwide in the fields of research, development, manufacturing and distribution.
Apotex employs a multicultural network of people and makes a conscious effort to foster an atmosphere of understanding between the various cultures represented. To develop a deeper knowledge of different perspectives, all employees participate in a half-day workshop on respectful workplaces. This internally run workshop, offered through HR, clarifies Apotex’s philosophy on respect and successful interaction between diverse groups.
The company celebrates cultural diversity through the implementation of initiatives such as:
* Displaying a large world map in a high-traffic location indicating the flags and countries of origin of all employees;
* Hanging a series of panels profiling the countries represented on the map; and
* Spearheading the Cultural Diversity Independence Day initiative aimed at raising awareness of all national holidays honoured by the workforce.
To fully utilize the cultural and language knowledge of its multicultural workforce, employees are invited to liaise with Apotex visitors from their country of origin. In doing so, Apotex is able to forge strong working relationships with international clients and organizations.
- Awareness & Leadership
* Build awareness among executives and hiring decision makers that skilled immigrants are now a significant segment of the Canadian population and labour pool.
* Develop an understanding in your company/organization of the potential benefits of employing skilled immigrants: enthusiasm, work ethic and ability to bring new perspectives to business problems.
* Ensure access to management, executive and board level opportunities for skilled immigrants.
- Planning & Sourcing
* Source skilled immigrant talent in occupations where the Canadian labour force is not producing the necessary skills.
- Selecting
* Develop and implement a policy that deliberately recognizes and values international experience, unless Canadian experience is required for licensing.
- Developing
* Invest in or develop a customized business English course that employees can take within the workplace."
I await your unqualified apology to Mr. Volpe, Apotex, liberal democracy, and the Canadian ethnic community.
Well done Bob! You categorically listed all the reasons I refuse to buy anything manufactured by Apotex when I go to the pharmacy.
Let me get this straight Bob, Apotex wites something nice about itself to attract potential employees, and we are to take it as gospel and apologize. Get real.

Is your head buried in your schmelupka or your copy of Mein Kampf??? Your holocaust denial is duly noted, "Adolph".
Errr...I'm pretty sure Bob was being sarcastic...I hope...
same here Bruce. LOL
uuuuh, I dont see anything there to indicate this is sarcasm.
it is the kind of stuff int'l corp's would beat their chest over to show their cultural sensitivity.
it would appear this attention to cultural aspects extends to political aspects, ie the volpe link, of their business plan.
Looks like bob is off his meds again ;-)
What a load of crap Bob...how altruistic can one be if you accept blood money to keep a product off the market, so that the patent holders can make millions more off the backs of people who need the drugs the m ost,but can afford them the least..
I am sure i have a copy of the internationale around some where for you to sing ...
texas canuck poses for photographs with food, and spams daytrayder boards with Apotex stock-pumping dis-info ;-)
bob must own a shitload of apotex stock. or he is just another criminal LIBERANO.
It's been my experience that people who play the race card when race is NOT mentioned are GUILTY of something.
What strikes me as very strange is that the anti-trust issue is exactly the kind of thing that would drive a stereotype liberal such as Bob to go absolutely bonkers about coporate Canada,it's leaders and stereotype conservatives. I find it very odd that our positions on this appear reversed. Essentially because they have a "good" policy on multi-culturalism and Mr. Volpe.
Hmmmm crooked developers, networking corporate welfare skanks, and generic patent buster big pharma...all the standard public trough racketeers still as main investors in the Liberal crime organization.
What will change except their head liar...er I mean leader?
BOB said: "I'm sure you'll agree with me after reading the following excerpts from www.hireimmigrants.ca/apotex_c.htm that the free market embraces the diverse, bridge-building liberal democratic values so diversly defended by the diversity of Team Volpe"
bwaaaaahahahahahaha...man ya need hip waders to deal with that PR sewage. Besides patent busting skanks with all the degenerated ethics of the rest of big pharma, we can now add "exploting minorities" in marketing copy (and in all likelihood spinning hiring illegals at wetback wages into that "progressive" marketing ploy)....what a saintly corporate citizen.....for me to poop on! >:-0)
Bob from Apotex/LPC corp....please feel free to go have sex with yourself next time you feel like dropping a brain fart like that on anyone who is familiar with Liberal party corporate patronage networks.
I think "Bob" has been drinking Apotex Koolade to wash down the "multicult tolerance" pills they make their emplyees take. :-)
Don't you have a seance to attend, WLM King Redux???
"Mother, that strap on explosive vest doesn't fit anymore!"
Jeezzz Bob, you actually were being serious in your first post???
Gawd man...you're nuttier than Howard Dean.
Wow! I read half of Bob's post before I realized (well, it became pretty obvious, didn't it?) that it wasn't sarcasm and that it was FOR REAL.
Self-congratulatory CRAP. All I care about Apotex is if they treat their employees fairly, if they treat their customers fairly, and if they're honest and don't cheat on their income tax returns. The fact that there's a criminal probe in the U.S. into whether or not Apotex has been paid "an unspecified amount to stay off the market with a generic copy of Plavix until 2011" has me wondering about this company and just how "respectful" and "diverse" it is.
I'm not too encouraged by their slap on their own back and by their laughable litany of every politically correct mantra going: "multicultural network of people," "understanding between the various cultures," "respectful workplaces," "successful interaction between diverse groups, "Cultural Diversity Independence Day initiative," etc., etc. ad nauseum (gag). Except for the last allusion to Independence Day, the other traits could equally be describing my church community. Well, hip, hip hooray for Apotex! It's "diverse"! It's "sensitive"!
WHO WROTE THIS GARBAGE?
'Must have been someone angling for a multiculturalism grant from the Librano Feds., with good ol' Joe Volpe pulling all the strings. 'Wonder how much they got? 'Must have been a whole lot for so many Apotex directors, employees, and their kids, to contribute so generously to Joe's leadership campaign.
To experience how effective the cultural sensitivity training Apotex gives its senior managers truly is, use the sda search function and enter "apotex +brown". Enjoy the Dec. 19 2005 post.
If you have time google Dr. Nancy Olivieri and Apotex and see how well they treated her while she was conducting a trial of an Apotex product at Sick Kids in T.O. When she told her funders she thought the drug was killing the trial participants, they tied to gag her and pretty much destroyed her career after she went public in an attempt to save lives. As to the price fixing and the scams...business as usual for big pharma. Isn't it reassuring to know Tony Clement was recently president of a generic pharma firm?
Best,
Peter H
Bob's a troll, just trying to get a rise outta y'all. Just ignore him.
'Bummer when the troll is the first one out of the gate!! Early bird gets the worm?
or early worm is a........
Did anyone notice that Bob accused the detractor of being racist, right off the bat.
He obviously knows how to beat the Liberal drum with great skill.
Let me guess,... Volpe would have something to do with drug patents if the dickhead was in power.
Check out Bobs rant at Dust my Broom - Death Cult Ride .
Bob sounds like he's bobbing for generic hillbilly herion as he tours the plant.
Hey Bob: Do me a favour and hold your breath until Kate makes her unqualified apology.
Bob,
At the top comment, you said you were deeply disturbed, and I*ll take your word for it.
Apotex is aptly named, don*t you think. I feel apoplectic almost every time I read about varrious shady channellings of influence Apotex style. = TG
Bob, Sorry. You are not deeply disturbed. It*s just me. I couldn*t resist.
You are often logical enough, but trying to defend the Canadian liberal camp is such a painful road.
Why not opt out until the liberals do a proper housecleaning, turn in their worst 100 criminal members to the RCMP and by so doing, regain Canadian voter respect.
This present ballet where dozens of hopefuls are looking for a leader where none exists is giving voters the creeps.
We can*t help thinking all this endless convention partying in Moncton and other places is still being financed on our tax dollar somehow.
I know, I know. You say it*s all legitimate public / corporate funding, but ESP tells me if there is any connection to the hill, then there are expense accounts connected to our wallets. =TG
So Apotex takes cash in exchange for NOT providing a lower cost drug that can help people.
Nice. Sounds like they are Liberals through and through. Pocket the money and officially screw the public. Simply awesome. Apotex must be very proud of themselves.
Where are the lefty's on this one? they should be beating on Apotex left right and center.
I remember the Olivieri case. she was a hamilton born practitioner and I was living in burlington at the time so it got a lot of the 'local hero stands up against the big bad pharma corp' treatment. they tried everything they could to discredit the woman short of skewering her with a jousting spear.
they opened the floodgates of ridicule and smear.
but she stood her ground and her defense was the universally accepted research methodologies that everyone understood and accepted. she documented it all and dug in for the long haul.
apotex lost a lot more than the court case.
The Liberal Party of Canada- best politicians that money can buy.........(Watch 'em go after the 'wetback vote' in the next election!)
.........(Watch 'em go after the 'wetback vote' in the next election!)
Thats what those scumbag LIBERANOS have been doing since that sick bastard trudoohh started screwing with my country.
Did I hear somewhere, that the eight year old Volpe fundin twins are pulling out all the stops, with a fully stocked hospitality suite at the National Crime family's, er uh,...Liberal convention ?
Looks like somebody has started something.....
Interesting pickup on that story Kate.
Is that even remotely legal?
I mean... is there even a prima facie case that this isn’t price fixing (Antitrust) not to mention RICO (very similar example of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act violation here)?
Hey, don't be picking on Volpe, hear he has moved his office to a building slated for demolition, not a good sign, add to that he's low on cash. Losing the the donations from the kiddies was a serious blow to his campaign,as well as losing Jimbo Karygiannis from his team. He may already be on antidepressants from Apotex, gratis of course.
Bob sez: "Don't you have a seance to attend, WLM King Redux???
"Mother, that strap on explosive vest doesn't fit anymore!"
Hmmmmm panicked by "Ghosts in the
machine"...that has liberal genetic code written all over it. ;-)
