  1. NEXT? Jean Chretin or Paul (I know nothing) Martin?
    Roll on the justice system.

  2. Will he get a slap on the hand??? Will he get the lecture tour as well??? Maybe house arrest???? Will the money be returned???? At this point nothing would suprise me!

  3. Does anyone think that this would have happened under Paul get-to-the-bottom-of-this Martin’s tenure?

  4. In some countries like Ireland, Korea and Germany when a public servant is convicted for corruption they have provisions for a reduction in the person’s pension.
I’d be happy if Mr. Guite’s pension was reduced to $1.00/annually.

  5. time for the rats to bite back . when the ship is sinking, even rat’s loyalties wrode.

  6. The English press totally failed to report his defence which was that Pelltier, Carle, and Gagliano gave him direct orders to issue the contracts. Cut the pensioner a deal and let him testify at the next inquiry.

  7. Better yet, arrest and charge Pelltier, Carle, and Gagliano and listen to them start to squeal on one another as well as J.C. and P.M. to try and save their own bacon.

  8. please do not use “bacon’ or “squeal” as it just adds to the muslim idea that we are apes and pigs.

  9. The Globe & Mail managed to avoid the words “Liberal Party” throughout the whole article.
Thank goodness for fair and balanced reporting!

  10. Sentence you to ongoing rehab/therapy at your fave dude ranch in Arizona. Now, get outta town.
“His sentencing has been set for this coming Friday.”

  11. Chuckie da Cheese says he’s going to appeal.
I smell a plead bargain coming on.
A reduced sentence for information which is strong enough to take down some big fish in the librano party.

  12. I’d be prepared to see Guite cut a deal if it leads to more arrests further up the command chain(i.e. Gagliano). I suspect he’ll get an easy sentence anyway. Remember Paul Coffin?
There was testimony from someone who claimed to be living in fear of having “a hunting accident” in their living room. What is that all about? Shows that there should be more to come. The media needs the “money” word MAFIA to make this story a hit with the public, but there’s no proof so far of those connections.
Guite seems to be just a manager of the program while the scheme was really owned by, perhaps, Chretien and Gagliano.
One more thing, let’s not forget (lib. leadership candidate)Scott Bryson’s part in this by claiming that there was an audit done when there had been no such thing.

  13. Only in Canada?
What kind of country are we that we can be robbed blind by members of our own government, and there’s still been no money paid back and no one’s gone to jail?
What kind of country are we that we can claim to be peaceful, open, tolerant, compassionate, people of integrity *** leftie Libs and Dippers, this is your specialty *** yet it turns out that we’re anything but? Dishonesty, robbery, fraud, cover ups, arrogance, lies, have been the order of the day on the part of our elected representatives for the past 13 years and our MSM, especially the CBC and The Star, have more or less stood meekly by while colluding with the fraudsters, thugs, and thieves?
‘Seems to me this is how Banana Republics operate.

  14. Poor Chuckie, somebody had to be the fall guy for the corruption that started in the PMO, and filtered down to Guite’s level.
When Guite is paroled, about this time next year, it’ll be interesting to see what plum job is awaiting, and with who.
    Good boy, Chuckie, nice doggie.

  15. Shearsg…Chas. goes where? In Arizona?
Whas his cell #? … we’ll get him on his cell and tape the conservation. The “Chuck Tapes”. $$$$
Guilty Guite goes straight to jail
MONTREAL (CP) – Chuck Guite, the operational mastermind at the centre of the federal sponsorship boondoggle, was sent straight to jail Tuesday for steering money-for-nothing contracts to a friendly ad firm

  16. Where are the comments from Pelltier etc saying, well glad to see the correct person got jailed.
Wont happen…they want this to go away forever.

One small victory in the fight for thruth and justice.
I can’t wait till someone rats out Mo Strong.

  18. there aint no one going to jail over this.
    this is Canaduh.
there are 100 million spent, 10 million stolen. millions in kickbacks and no time will be spent . CBCpravda will sweep it under the table because they are part of the problem and part of the system.

  19. dmorris, you have grabbed the ticket on this one. Guite was the ‘scapegoat’, like all thugs, the Liberano crowd will turn on their own – he is not going to sing yet because someone has offered him something else…they will not deliver but Guite has a pretty good hand he could pay against them. Something will ‘happen’ to Mr. Guite in the jailhouse..IMP he should ‘sing’ right now. I would for the simple reason that I would not like being’used’ forthe type of individuals who would leave me out hanging -so to speak. In Guite’s shoe I would not go down alone!!
Where is the French Press coverage, spoken about above? I think I would like to read what the English MSM left out!

  20. Loony;
You say the English press “failed” to report the real dirt? My god, what an oversight! How could it have happened!? Somebody wake the Globe and Fail and alert the Red Star and the warn the Chretien Broadcasting Corp. to circle the wagoons!
I don’t feel the least bit sorry for the Chuckster. Rats should be shot in the alley.
But it seems unfair that one lonely Liberal is facing the penitentiary showers. According to the last two Auditors-General, there should be several hundred people with him, if not thousands, from nearly every ministry, at every level. Including certain sidekicks and off-the-books henchmen of the last two prime ministers, if not the PMs themselves.
Da proof is da proof, and when you got da proof, dat’s da proof? Right? Did I get any of that wrong?

  21. If guite is smart he will rat out everyone from cretien down to the last liberano in the country. And if doesnt i hope he knows not to drop the soap.

  22. Unfortunately, this may be the last act of a very sordid play.Except for us out here(bloggyworld) and Quebec,no one really seems to give a rat’s ass about what these thieves and thugs have done. What we need is someone like maybe Ms. Copps, who was in the mix and writes for the Sun chain,to tell the truth about what went down.Don’t hold your breath. On a related note,I am heartened by the fact that the terrorists were plotting to behead a P.M. when pm was in office.

  23. Lots of people care about the megatheft. But they don’t know what to do about it, past voting, so they give up.
But I sure as hell wouldn’t expect Tony Librano’s little cousin Sheila to rat him out. Or Paul. Even if she’s out of work and getting long in da tooth, a girl still has to have dreams of power. And it’s not as if she’s ever had a real job. Even when she was a reporter, it was only as a favour to her dad the mayor of Hamilton.
Noooo, there’s won’t be any coming clean from that neck of the woods. You’d be better off betting on a complete removal of corruption at the United Nations. (Snarf!)

  24. If anyone is looking for our “justice” system to hand out an appropriate sentence, dream on.

  25. Well I guess the jury is in. Mr. Guite is taking the fall for what was a highly orchestrated plan to defraud the Canadian taxpayers and to sweeten the election fortunes of the Liberal Party in Quebec. There are a number of people still being investigated and it won’t surprise me to see other people charged and go to trial. I have confidence that if Harper can find clear evidence he will ensure that this happens. In the meantime we need to have confidence that eventually someone will talk and evidence will be found to implicate those that were really behind this fraud.

  26. Related how? Librano$ ???
    Joe Volpe’s press releases Sukh:
    http://www.youthforvolpe.no-libs.com/
June 7, 2006 – Obviously, a press release to announce an MP’s support for a leadership candidate is standard fair. But a release to announce you have lost the support of one???:
“Volpe comments on Sukh Dhaliwal’s departure from his campaign.
Ottawa, June 6, 2006 – The Honourable Joseph Volpe, Member of Parliament for Eglinton-Lawrence and Liberal leadership candidate today made the following statement about Sukh Dhaliwal.
“Last evening I had a long discussion with Mr. Dhaliwal, at which time he indicated strong support for my leadership and direction for the Liberal party. Sukh and I have been friends for many years, it was with shock and sadness that I learned he was no longer supporting my bid for the leadership of the Liberal Party. While all Liberals, including Mr. Dhaliwal, have the right to support any of the leadership candidates, I respect but disagree with his decision. I do hope that at some point, during the next six months, Mr. Dhaliwal rejoins my campaign and once again partakes of my vision for the Liberal Party. While it is good to have the support of Members of Parliament, the leadership of the party is decided by grass roots members, and I am pleased to see the great deal of support that I am receiving from all regions across the country.”
So Dhaliwal “indicated strong support” for Volpe’s leadership and direction for the Liberal party, but is “no longer supporting” his bid to be leader. HUH??? These guys can’t even get this kind of thing right.
Dhaliwal is a rising star here in BC, and has plenty of organizational skills and assets. This is another huge hit for the Volpe campaign. …

  27. How could a man whose adult work experience includes shovelling snow for the City of Ottawa wind up in a position where he could defraud the Government of more than lunch money?
Unfortunately, the people who designed and run a human resources system where the right language is an overriding factor will not be joining this protege in jail.

  28. “to other pockets unknown”: Librano$$$$$$
Weston omits the words “The Liberal Party of Canada”; the names of AdScam “Chretien/Martin/Gagliano”, et al.
There will be no civil court action until 2008, Weston says.
Weston asks: “Is the fall guy going to prison while the real culprits are still at large?”
The answer is: The real culprits are still at large, Greg. …
Simple logic suggests either he was on the take, or he was doing someone else’s dirty work, say, by funneling taxpayers’ money through the ad agencies to the coffers of the federal Liberal Party in Quebec, and to other pockets unknown.
Guite was specifically not convicted of taking kickbacks — only for his role in helping Brault defraud the government.
Is the fall guy going to prison while the real culprits are still at large? The mystery continues.

  30. What surprisingly congruent intuitions this thread displayed. Compare this to the CBC et al, who are scanning the opposite horizons, posing in capri pants, asking themselves if they’re brave enough to forget.
