The Emergency Meeting

The motorcades screech to a halt, lights flashing; burly bodyguards jump out and usher their charges into the conference hall. They have been summoned here from their palaces, their holiday villas, awakened from their beds, rushed here in their private jets. This is THE big meeting of the OIC, the Organization of the Islamic Conference. So are they finally going to resolve the Darfur conflict, the Brown-Muslim-on-Black-Muslim genocide that has already claimed an estimated 300,000 lives?

Not exactly.

  1. Go arab bloggers (I’m not sure if this guy is still a muslim).
Something worth noting on an unrelated thread. The EU is withdrawing financial aid to the Palestinian Authority until they recognise Israel and denounce violence.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4730568.stm
They’re in a real cash crunch at the moment. It’s worth noting that Hamas has reigned in the attacks of late. This may give moderate Palestinians the leverage they need to work towards peace without having to worry about being assasinated by die hards for selling out. These are interesting times, stay tuned.

  2. Colonization by Westerners of the Arab/Muslim countries would be the best thing that could happen to Arabs and Muslims.
That’s unlikely, so the best thing for the West would be to dis-engage from these savages until they become more civilized. A big wall around the mid-east would be good, an ‘iron curtain’ behind which information could be tightly controlled. At least until their culture advances far enough that they can learn to get along with others in a modern society.
‘Emergency’ cartoon meetings? by leaders of countries? grown men? Jesus H. Christ that’s pathetic!

  3. When will our more vocal brothers and sisters on the left realize that Islamists want them dead for the very things that they hold most dear? And if they do come to this realization, what will they do about it? Rely on the UN for protection? Hold a “Truth and Reconciliation” conference and invite the Imams?
Fanatics polarize the less-fanatical. Those moderate Muslims who don’t support the fanatics already find their lives in danger – just look at the butcher’s bill amongst Iraqi civilians. This violence will get worse in Muslim countries, and may get worse for the west, until some politically and theologically powerful moderate Muslims can regain control in a Muslim country that matters. I am not holding my breath.

  4. When will our more vocal brothers and sisters on the left realize that Islamists want them dead for the very things that they hold most dear?
NEVER. Being true fascists themselves(apoplectic at the thought of individual choices and thinking), they view the world as the enemy of my enemy(Bush, the west, capitalism, whatever) is my friend.
They are as craven and pathological as Islamofascism.

  5. it gets sillier every day. i think its going to get a lot worse before anything changes . too bad they couldn’t figure out that if they stopped the damned protesting they’d probably see a lot fewer cartoons. but i don’t think its just the cartoons . when you watch the protesters it seems like they have a bigger problem . it looks like a hive mentality of masochism . at the same time they’re trying to intimidate . i wish they’d make up their minds .

  6. There is some interesting commentary on the Darfur conflict at “dictator of the month club”

For Darfur, check out “Mr. May 2005
enough to go around for everyone to comment…. ?
and some interesting comparisons to boot.

  7. Halfwise Halfwit “When will our more vocal brothers and sisters on the left realize that Islamists want them dead for the very things that they hold most dear?”
I’ll keep that in mind next time I’m getting drunk and stoned with my muslim buddies. They haven’t tried to kill me yet but I will keep an eye out just in case. Better yet maybe I’ll just shoot them first, just to be on the safe side.

  8. Somehow I suspect that if Walt Disney were alive – he loved his country, during WWII he slapped Hitler down in cartoons – we’d see a real cartoon war.
When the remaining WWII vets die off we will have lost the generation of moral principle and spine.

  9. Another fine fine crosslink from SDA, please allow me to pass this one on from Steynonline.com ( his newsbox links)
“”Per Nyholm of Jyllands-Posten hits back at some of the Muslim attacks and mealy-mouthed western defences of the last two weeks””
“A local newspaper in Jutland (ever heard of Jutland before?), a rural area of Denmark (one of Europes smallest nations, with a language spoken by barely 5 million people) published twelve drawings. Some were simple portraits of a man with Arab features, some poked fun at the newspaper itself, and barely a handful were caricatures of Muhammad, the prophet of the Muslims hardly offensive by Western standards.
It is true that the Western press has been grossly offensive to religious people in the past, mocking their beliefs and morals, hurting their feelings, insulting them. From the BBC to CNN, from The Guardian to The New York Times, the dominant media have never been squeamish about giving offense.
Anyone who sees the twelve Danish pictures [see them here, halfway down the page] wonders what all the fuss is about. However, most people do not get to see them as they have been censored in the major information sources, from the BBC to CNN, from The Guardian to The New York Times. The drawings were so inoffensive that when they were originally published last September there was no outcry, not even in Egypt where they were republished in October. Only when fanatical imams travelled from Denmark to Arabia, with suitcases containing three grossly offensive bogus cartoons which they had added to the original twelve and only when these imams told people that these were the offensive Danish cartoons, so offensive that no-one was allowed to see them only then Islamic mobs went on a rampage. Four months after the original drawings had been published in Jutland.””

I must have missed that lecture. Mind you I spent most of my electives on Collusion With The Enemy, Moral Decay and Promoting Tyranny so I didn’t have much time left over for other worthy subjects.

“Better yet maybe I’ll just shoot them first, just to be on the safe side.”
Irony is a lovely thing. But taking a fanatic at his word isn’t a bad strategy, especially when he has shown his commitment to backing it up with action. Don’t dismiss the Islamist threat to moderate Muslims.

LONDON SUNDAY TELEGRAPH PARIS — French authorities have begun closing down soup kitchens run by anti-immigrant groups that serve pork because the practice is offensive to Muslims, who cannot eat pork. In Strasbourg and Nice, food handouts have been banned because they could lead to “public disorder.” “Schemes with racial subtexts must be denounced,” Mayor Fabienne Keller said. In Paris, police have stopped charities from serving pork soup at major stations on “administrative grounds,” claiming the soup kitchens do not have the correct papers. +

  17. Sorry, should have previewed that for grammer.
Am I wrong in thinking that they got their idea from the Ford Pinto?

  18. halfwit and penny…
I think Jose is saying or I will…he’s nailing you for lazy thinking….any post doesn’t need to have a anti-left twitch from someone here.
The subject was Islamic hypocrisy. Every one I know here who is left thinks the rioters or those stirring it up are fucking nuts. That said, I think the leaders of this are using the cartoons as an anti-west tool.

  19. Where is Mel Brooks when you need him. I would love to see the sequel to “Blazing Saddles”, “Exploding Turbans”.
These cartoon reactionaries need a reality check. I suggest carpet bombing the drinking water supply with rabid pigs. If that fails I suggest everyone in the West buy a video of “Babe” and ship it to “Occupant” any where in the Middle East.

  20. Right on bullwinkle. And make sure the rabid pig is a sow. nothing will piss those emasculated excuses for manhood off more. And why waste a perfectly good nuke on them?? Just build a wall. After the bombers and aids gets them, end of problem!!
And any one who drinks or gets stoned is NOT a Islamicfascist Muslim Jose. They are the least of your worries, unless of course, they believe in independence, accountability, and resposnsibility. Then I would suggest they are just using you as a joke.

  21. Hi there, nice post Kate. These people are rioting over very little. I would dare say that 90% of them don’t have a clue. If it is true that they are shutting done soup and hand-out kitchens, “that they may have served PORK”. It may happen in Canada. If the right people get in power, flog these newspapers, and the human right activists. Personally, I think when they started the protests over all of this so called religous rights, ignore them, quit dealing with them, do not supply any aid or money to them. How long do you think they would last. Not long. Oh geez, sorry, got fantazing again. I live in Canada, they let the Sekies get into the Legions and RCMP wearing there turbans. We also supply lots of money to these groups so they can protest worldwide with no consquence. We probably have a fund so they can bill us for the airplane tickits. Thank Merle

  22. halfwit and penny…
I think Jose is saying or I will…he’s nailing you for lazy thinking….any post doesn’t need to have a anti-left twitch from someone here.

Steve, if it wasn’t so apparent that our leftist MSM weren’t protecting these nutballs using the “sensitivity” defense(thereby muzzling free speech), and every major film/utterance out of Hollywood weren’t so cravenly anti-American and there was true free speech and political diversity on our leftist campuses I would retract my attitude about leftists.
    I stand by it.
I respect Jose. And, in the level playing field of diverse opinions here, respect his opinions even if we disagree.

  23. great idea bullwinkle! we should also compile all of the porky pig episodes from looney toons and send that too them as well!!! in fact if it comes to war we should brodcast babe and porky over every accessable tv channel available… for those that don’t have tv’s we will just have to air drop some in…
as for the rabid pig carpet bombing.. rabies does not survive in the the environment long enough to be an efficient agent for war fare..
erysipilas now theirs a potential warfare bug.. just need to find a hot strain…

  24. Penny…people on the left find the MSM either rightist or utterly irrelevant in this blogger age.
MSM enterprises are businesses that sell ads…they don’t speak for me either. For any analysis, I depend on the internet. I had a low feeling that they gave Harper a pass in their coverage of the election. Well, maybe not the CBC or the Star, but i didn’t like their work either…no balance.

  25. Didn’t the 9/11 bunch do a lot of partying at strip joints just to blend in? Don’t judge a book by it’s cover is what I think Jose is trying to say, but then it’s okay to lie to infidels, so how do you know if they are being truthful or just blending in? Wouldn’t want to be wrong on either count. Presumed innocent until they start chopping off extremities I guess!

  26. Guys, the Islamist extremists aren’t nuts, they’re just deeply pissed. And insulting them isn’t going to make them listen. It’s time to figure out what WE should be saying and doing that will protect our interests – I think John Howard of Australia is on the right track these days. But it seems to me that most westerners don’t think our interests are threatened at all, and THAT’s nuts IMHO.

  27. halfwise… yah hitler wasnt nuts either, he was just an deeply angry..pfff…. if you don’t believe the the Islamic extremists aren’t nuts then you obviously haven’t listened to some of their speaches. sure insulting them won’t make them listen… but, probably nothing we say will make them listen… remember we are the Infidels!! anything we say contrary to how they have been programmed is simply satanic and deemed evil… anything we say that may be interpreted as sympathetic to them is obviously just satan trying to trick them.
however i do agree with you on one point
” it seems to me that most westerners don’t think our interests are threatened at all, and THAT’s nuts IMHO.”
however i suspect that we may share differing opinions on how we should go about protecting our intrests…
the whole situation seems reminiscent of the pre-WWII era. i’m not a total history buff but wasn’t good old Churchill labelled a war-monger when he warned every one of the impending threat of the Nazi war machine?
oh and why didn’t America jump into the war right away? oh yah its cause the majority of americans felt it didnt directly involve them and their intrests were not in jeparody. then those silly japanese imperialists made the mistake of pissing off a sleeping giant.
well to all those who believe that we can talk this out with the islamic extremists i say: WAKE UP!! History is in the process of repeating itself and if we want to enjoy the freedom we have now we are going to have to fight for it just like my grandpa and many other brave souls did.

  28. This is a little OT but have a look at CBC’s cartoon timeline:
    http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/islam/muhammad_cartoons_timeline.html
    Missing a few important details???
    Here’s one!
Oct.17, 2005 -Egyptian newspaper Al Fager reprints Danish cartoons in front page headline. No outrage, riots, arrests, or killings.
I wonder if McNally Robinson carried it!
We all know about this. http://freedomforegyptians.blogspot.com/2006/02/egyptian-newspaper-pictures-that.html
Does the CBC have any reporters who can Google?

  29. Way off topic but does anyone else besides me think some poor mid level exec. is getting set up to take a fall (CP) – An internal Finance Department probe into the alleged leak of confidential income-trust policy exonerates senior staff – but also suggests the circle of those potentially in the know may have been wider than previously reported http://www.cbc.ca/cp/business/060219/b021912.html

  30. I’ve heard it suggested that by burying the remains of suicide bombers with pig entrails they would be denied heaven/virgins….Sounds like a good deterrent to me!

  31. I bought a book at a local library sale a couple weeks ago. The book is titled “The Gathering Storm” by Winston Churchill — it was written in 1948 … well worth the buying price of a dollar.
“Virtuous motives, trammelled by inertia and timidity, are no match for armed and resolute wickedness. A sincere love of peace is no excuse for muddling hundreds of millions of humble folk into total war. The cheers of the weak, well-meaning assemblies soon cease to echo, and their votes soon cease to count. Doom marches on.”
    — Winston Churchill

  32. Evan “oh and why didn’t America jump into the war right away? ….. then those silly japanese imperialists made the mistake of pissing off a sleeping giant.”
It was a bit more complex than that. America was torn between those that wanted to support Britain and those that supported the Nazis like Charles Lindbergh and Senator Taft (who went on to become the republican Presidential candidate). FDR embargoed Japan and Japan stupidly responded with Pearl Harbor thinking that the american’s would negotiate. They didn’t realize that they were giving FDR just the provocation he needed to overcome the isolationists.
Here’s a link that includes some more background and some memos that might be of interest:
    http://www.rationalrevolution.net/war/fdr_provoked_the_japanese_attack.htm
I’m not 100% behind the idea that FDR provoked the japanese. But Pearl Harbor didn’t come out of nowhere. The Japanese had a reason for attacking even though they were stupid in doing so.
There’s a big problem with your WW2 analogy. We here on the left aren’t rooting for Al Qaeda like some of the isolationist right were for the Nazis. Its strictly a question of tactics. I for one feel that military force isn’t the answer to terrorism. History if full of examples of nations that tried and failed.
Equating radical Islam with Nazi Germany is doing Osama Bin Laden a big favour in my opinion.
There isn’t a question on wether Al Qaeda should be countered but how.

  33. Doh! Except for Afghanistan. I did support that war although I think the americans fumbled it by using air power instead of lots of boots on the ground from the get go.

  35. Jose,
” … military force isn’t the answer to terrorism. History if full of examples of nations that tried and failed.”
Actually, history is full of examples of nations that tried everything they could to avert the use of military force … and when they ran out of options they finally used military force … it was to late … and they failed.
The Nazi’s wrote a pretty good cookbook on deception/divide and conquer/propaganda/etc. – It looks radical Islam has read the book and getting similiar results.

  36. Toronto Muslims air cartoon fury
About 3,000 Muslims gathered in Toronto yesterday to peacefully but angrily condemn the Danish Muhammad cartoons, call for laws to ban such artwork and predict economic destruction for Denmark itself…
…”We will not burn embassies down, we will not burn flags down,” Sheikh Ahmad Shehab, a Toronto imam, shouted to the cheering crowd. “We will watch the oppressors burn their economy down. We will watch them drown in their own blood…. They will not get our dollars. The oppressors will see soon what type of a turn their affairs will take. It will take a terrible turn.”…
    http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/story.html?id=01cefd5a-7d43-4b7d-8f77-cd204590c625
Sheikh Ahmad Shehab is a fundraiser and tremendous public speaker. His ability to command an audience and motivate them to donate in the way of Allah is enourmous. 21 years serving the community in Canada……special advisor to the special United Nations envoy.

  37. “So the deal is that the Europe, which already bans incitement to, and practice of, race hatred, should now ban any criticism of others’ religions as well. On the other hand, the Islamic countries, who have always criticized the other religions, will still continue to preach race hatred, especially towards the Jooos. Sounds fair enough to me.”
And isn’t this the glaring hypocrisy of Islam! Anyone who want’s to see the realities cannot ethically endorse this theocratic tyranny…it just disturbs me we have Pro-radical Islam-antisemitic leftwing wankers among us who ignore the obvious. Then again, this is the utopian sect that believes in the great Easter bunny of global socialism.

  38. Bet I could draw better cartoons of Moe than that Dane did. And who’s to say they dipict Moe if no pictures exist of him. Just wondering. The more they demonstrate – burn churches – kill the innocent infidels, the more I want them out of my country. I can’t even look at them when I walk down the street; it would be like defiling myself.
Here they are in Montreal having a peaceful march. They want the Western Standard to apologise. Who do they think they are. Did the Christians take to the streets when the Art Gallery displayed the Madonna painted in oil and elephant dung. Some of us were not too happy about that display, Our friggin taxes keep that joint in business. I visited that place once and won’t go back. They had a grand piano all smashed and called it art for god’s sake. That really pissed me off since I always wanted a grand piano. Did I go out and demonstrate – hell no. What gives them the right to come here and start dictating to us. Give us back our guns so we have a leg to stand on if need be. If we behaved like that in their country do you think we’d still have our heads. Don’t tell me it’s not all Muslims. When I see the majority of these guys denouncing the terror activities their brethern are up to then I will believe it. Till that time they are all in the same mold.

  39. jypsy ontario “When I see the majority of these guys denouncing the terror activities their brethern are up to then I will believe it.”
I hear this argument here every day. I think I may have said this before but it bears repeating.
When I was a teenager in the ’80s my best mate was a Canadian of Irish descent. He and his family fully supported the IRA right through their bombing campaigns in england. They weren’t alone. The IRA was getting most of its arms and money from supporters from the US. It wasn’t until this support dried up that the UK was finally able to drive the final nail in the IRAs coffin.
I debated this hotly with my mate but I made no headway. He’d just reiterate the “They’re not terrorists they’re an army of resistance” mantra. The funny thing was I was alone in this. I heard nary a peep through the 80s about anyone criticising Irish Canadians who supported the IRA. Yet here we are 20 years later and we have people slagging peaceful muslims for not denouncing terrorism loud enough. This smells hypocritical to me.
For what its worth I mix with muslims frequently time and I hear them bitching about extremism all the time. For many of them that’s the reason why they left their countries for the UK. They certainly didn’t come here for the weather.

  40. Re: Jutland and history repeating itself.
Robert I think you are alluding to the Battle of Jutland, 1916. If history does repeat itself and we are witnessing another Battle of Jutland then the gods must truly be laughing. The original Battle was the largest naval engagement in WWI this engagement is a result of .95 cent newspaper issue. Truly “Whom the gods would destroy they first make mad.”

  41. I’m surprised some enterprising entrepreneur hasn’t printed the Moe caricatures on t-shirts and made them available on the internet yet. I wonder if people would buy them? Hmmm. And if they did, what the bloody muslims would say or do about that? What if thousands (who knows millions) of people across the world, co-ordinated and wore the t-shirts all on the same day? What would western governments say or do? Would muslims in Canada attack Canadian citizens? Would this be considered a hate crime? Would more freedom be taken away and laws changed?

  42. jose….
okay i will admit my anology wasn’t completely perfect, but you have to recognise there are similarities…
I never said that people on the left were rooting for Al Queda! I was eluding to the point that those who tend to be against war now remind me of the those people that labelled Churchill a warmonger.
Also, i agree that some in the United States supported the nazi’s… but don’t try to tell me it was an even split between those that supported britain and those that supported germany… at the beginning of world war II popular US opinion was to stay out of it because of the unilateral Monroe Doctrine i.e. europe doesn’t mess with us and we wont get involved in europe, mind you there were some russian and german simpathizers rallying the american public to increase support for inaction.
FDR embargoed Japan because it was building up it’s military in opposition to previously agreed upon military standards.
and you can draw some similarities between Al Queda and the nazis… both run by crazy fenatics, with members willing to blindly follow the leader into combat.
oh yah and by attacking pearl harbour japan thought it could get the US to negotiate.
by attacking the US Al Queda thought it could get the US to negotiate.
I am just saying there are similarities… but what are you suggesting we do if military action is not the perfered istrument against terrorists?
send them a well worded letter asking them to stop killing inocent people in the name of allah?
Embargoes? okay you do that, when (not IF)that doesnt work, lets hope its not too late to snuff them out with some well orchestrated military action…

  43. jose: I am of Irish descent. I remember those times well. Seems, at that time, many Canadians were denouncing the activity of the IRA. Being Catholic and descended from Glensmen I was more than aware of what went on in Ulster Had a step grandfather who was orange and a dad who was a mick. Ya can’t tell me anything about the Irish. Now, if I remember correctly they weren’t killing off everyone that was orange. So, jose, don’t give me your BS.
