So I�m watching Michael Coren tonight, and they get to the Omar Alghabra incident. San Grewal, a writer with the Toronto Star, went to great pains to laud his own paper and demonize the blogoshpere.
Amid much eye-rolling and exasperation, Grewal implied that contrary to what was being spread on the internet, nothing unusual was said at the nomination meeting. In fact, he said that even Carolyn Parrish said she didn�t hear anything.
Well not quite – Parrish is on record in the Mississauga News as having said that she heard Markham city councillor Khalid Usman utter the words originally attributed to Alghabra. Of course, there was no discussion of this, nor of the rapture in the audience, and instead Grewal and Coren rode the smear meme for all it was worth.
The panel them moved on to the Elie Betito �take your NRA , gun loving ass back to the U.S. where you belong� email.
The giants o� journalism around the table, including sadly Clare Hoy, kept referring to Stacey Cherwonak as a �she.� They also never mentioned that he�s an RCMP officer. They also never mentioned that Betito sent the email out using his Apotex account.
All interesting facts in their own right, but I guess only idjits on the innernut would find them so.
