Given the comments from martin today they are trying to draw this out.
Of course why this should be such a terrible thing, even though I dont agree with the basis of their arguments, is beyond me.
Best thing to say is support from all Canadians is a good thing. Unlike the Liberals we listen to all opinions.
The liberals are trying to get him to say he would use the charter to override. Stick to the message Stephen…free vote in the house and if the house passes a bill that can make it past the courts then it becomes law. If it cant then you either ammend the legislation or let it drop.
The court ruled same sex marriage was constitutional, it said parliament had not spoken on the issue. Other jusrisdictions, the UK for example just passed a civil union bill. Elton John seems to think it is good enough for him and his Canadian partner…because thats the law they are forming their partnership under.

Conservatives dont villify people who disagree with them.
Harper’s approach of having a true free vote – where each MP is accountable to their riding constituents – is eminently more democratic than the Liberal view of cracking the whip or deferring difficult social issues to the (unelected) Supreme Court of Canada. What on earth is so scary about this? Why do we elect all these MPs if they simply act like robots in Parliament doing whatever the benevolent dictator says they should.

Meant to add to my last post the positive news coming out of the MSM on Iraq. They’re not reporting that about 71% of Iraqis think life is going good. That will probably be up to about 90% after the election this week, and they all realize they have their country back and America is making plans to bring their boys home.

Faux mea culpas from John Duffy on Mike Duffy today. But Jamey Heath said he wasn’t happy with the coverage the campaign was getting, with the drive by smear of Bush, and Reid’s earlier comments on Alberta, which apparently miffed the MSM who felt that they’d been left out. Gee, all they have to is recognize that there is a country west of Manitoba, and the Western Standard is also a publication of merit. Still not convinced there’s any sincerity behind the apologies. Paul Wells listed a ton of other Reidisms that should have been picked up but weren’t, like anybody who disagreed with the appointment of the new GG was a Marxist or Leninist, blah blah, plus some other stuff I can’t remember. But he says Reid is safe. Can’t help but wonder whether Reid isn’t actually up to something on behalf of somebody else. Perhaps it is the eve of the long knives in the LPC.
Interesting to note, a columnist in the Toronto Sun last week wrote about reporters, and mentioned Julie Van Dusen and her zeal for gotcha journalism. Saw CBC today and she’s been replaced on the Tory campaign by Susan Bonner, who’s less zealous. She was pretty impartial in her coverage of the morning’s events with Harper. Don’t know where they stuck Julie, but there’s bound to be less ‘gotcha’ wherever she ends up.
John Duffy defended Reid’s comments and expanded on them and he certainly hasn’t apologized for defending Reid so you know that Reid’s apology is insincere and he is just another arrogant Liberal who think they have the God given right to govern forever without meaningful consultation with ordinary Canadians.
Sorry but consultation is coming on Jan.23 and Liberals are not going to like the results.
