The Sound Of Corks Popping

And to the victor go the spoils.
Reaction to another pre-election “Hail Mary” cash toss by the Liberals to settle residential school claims at Dust My Broom (including a link to the Auditor General’s report);

Read the whole thing as it is very enlightening. She is nice about it, but if you read deeper you’ll notice the complete incompetance of our huge government’s ability to accomplish simple agendas.
The Department of Indian and Northern Affairs is probably the worst of it all. Terrible management layered with multiple hellish bureaucracy and complex idioms that nobody can understand. Think how they will handle an extra $8 billion running through their fingers next year. It will be a damn waste.
The only way to go to improve anything is to eliminate this huge governance hidden under the farce of caring.

Bonus: Darcey catches CTV airbrushing their online report.

  1. $10 million for a commemoration program. – run through a Liberal ad firm no doubt.
at least these payments will go direct so the band councils wont get the grab on them.
will be recyled into the economy almost instanteously. they dont need RRSPS do they??

  2. You know the reason lawyers have been substituted for rats in animal testing, right? There are some things that rats just won’t do.

  3. So long as the Liberals continue to protect the Indian Affairs Dept and the Indian bureaucracy from the Auditor General, we can forget about problem solving. This is just like medicare – – throw more money at it and watch the loot disappear with no appreciable results.

  4. I don’t know what is so shocking here….Its election time and the standard operational mode of all the special interests the Libraos have cultured under the guise of Multi-cult are all lined up for cash bursments…er ah…I mean “election candy” to deliver their particualr multi-cult ghettoized voting block in return.
The patronage premise is in full swing as the money flows like wine to avert an impending electoral disaster for the “patronage party”
God forbid any other ethic emerged as a governing premise of Trudeaupia….or the rotten corpse of Trudeaupian patronage brokering would fall to the evil hordes who demand responsible accountable constitutional government.

  5. Right. Shall we schedule the inquiry into the misuse of Residential School restitution funds for, say, 2010? All you politically connected lawyers, make sure your calendar is clear of legal aid cases – this is going to be the motherlode …

  6. Any chance of seeing the finder’s fees, administration fees, transfer fees, handling fees, court costs, & LEGAL FEES on this one?
(including GST & PST, of course.) Duh!

  7. Flushing! I don’t thing that even describes it. I do not think that there is anyone left out there to promise money too. After all the white male is still aloud to apply for work with the government… Kelowna should be very interesting, to bad that the media will put their “spin on it”. (I plan on sitting back in coffeeshop and watching the events unfold) I have a question: Do you think that PMPM will get as cauky as to attempt to deal with section 35 of the consitution? It was tried at Meach Lake….. Regardless of the outcome in Kelowna there needs to be a faternal audit into Indian Affairs. This will make adscam look like peanuts. Trust funds for school children disappearing, chiefs go on holidays at Casino’s and all we do is: There, there, it’s okay that you screwed up, heres another few billion to make things better. It just makes me sick!

  8. Speaking of CTV, they are the true biased network. I watched CBC news last night and was very impressed with the quality and thoroughness of their reports, without a hint of bias.
I was amazed at their story re: Hercules replacement. When responding to Liberal claim that this was not last minute vote getter/bribe, he responded (not exact words:
“The Liberals claim they have been working on this project for some time,” then wryly threw in
    “for months”
Wow. BTW, story on replacement alternatives was thorough (ie J-version of Herc still work in progress) and very professional.
BZ to CBC on this one. Let’s give credit where it is due, IMHO.

  9. ” I watched CBC news last night and was very impressed with the quality and thoroughness ”
Our CBC ?? The Canadian Broadcorping Castration ??
WOW . . if this is true maybe the strike did some good after all . . or maybe they are being very canny, think the Grits are toast and are already ingratiating themselves with the expected new bosses . . .

  10. I don’t watch CBC news alot but the last few days have been paying more attention to The National and Politics just to see how Mansbridge, Newman, et al are handling and spinning things. At first I thought I was imagining things and perhaps I am, but I am getting the feeling that the CBC folks are not going as far out of their way to make the Libs look good and the Conservatives look evil and scary as they did last election. Of course the election campaign has not officially begun, but really it has unofficially. You get the feeling the CBCers know the the Libs are toast and they need to do a little cosying up to their soon to be masters, and holders of the purse strings. Just a thought, as usually I cannot watch a full CBC news or public affairs program without looking for a bucket to puke into.

  11. Gord, I’ve noticed that too. I suspect it has more to do with blogs like this, and their growing popularity. The media in this country have lost credibility, and some of the stuff seen on blogs have never seen the light of day in the MSM. BTW, Toronto Sun is reporting the lawyers are getting 80 million in fees for their work on residential school files. I think it’s Greg Weston who has it broken down.
