Last Friday (Nov. 18), Finance Minister Ralph Goodale claimed that an election before the new year would scrap the scheduled increase � a statement that is simply false.
�Seniors are already concerned with this governments recent mishandling of income trusts,� stated Allison. �But to cause seniors needless worry about the proposed pension increase, an increase which they are entitled to, is irreprehensible. These false statements are unfair and deliberately dishonest to seniors.”
The January increase to the Guaranteed Income Supplement was voted on and passed by Parliament late last spring as part of Bill C-43, the Budget Implementation Act. These increases have already been made law and will be instituted regardless of the political climate.
Lying to seniors about their pensions in order to “trick” vulnerable retired folks into voting Liberal? Poor form, old chap!

I am going to give the esteemed Minister the benefit of the doubt and assume that he was referring to his beast of burden.
