Hon. Scott Brison (Minister of Public Works and Government Services, Lib.): Mr. Speaker, this morning I rise on a point of order to clarify remarks that I made on November 4 in the House. I have sent the following letter to the member for Calgary Southwest and I would li e to read that letter today.
I am writing to you in connection with three statements made in a published press release on Friday, November 4, 2005. The three statements, which I now understand to be untrue, are: one, the NCC has been charged six times under the Canada Elections Act of various malfeasances
relating to third party advertising, many of these under the Leader of the Opposition’s watch; two, the Leader of the Opposition’s past is littered with examples of questionable, if not illegal, behaviour; and three, the Leader of the Opposition was in contravention of the Lobbyist Registration Act.�����
I make the following statement as a correction and by way of apology.��

This particular case went nowhere with press anyway. All too often, however, the smear is on page one and the retraction/apology is on page 8 if anywhere at all. Brison is simply clearing the decks for a “slew of smears” that will undoubtably continue during election.

Will Brison also apologise for saying that Harper is anti-gay? If he doesn’t, Phil’s closing comments may be the absolute truth.
When will Mr. Brison investigate Buzz Hargrove for his lobbying efforts, or are Mr. Hargrove and the CAW already registered for their ongoing efforts to influence Canadian policy-making through both public and closed-door activities at the highest levels of government?
Brison has more to apologize for… much more. The man has no integrity; no credibility. Of course, he’s, after all, a “Liberal”. ‘Nuff said.
Hopefully the folks of Kings-Hants will see him for what he really is and give him the boot.

Mr Brison’s department has put a freeze on hiring white males, I wonder how closely the composition of his ministerial exempt staff and of his riding office comes to meeting the department’s diversity “goals”?

Further, if he claims that harper is “anti-gay” then doesn’t his recent “no white males” policy in his dept. make him anti “caucasiohetero”? (wrap your head around that one)
Hmm… Brison’s department forbids the hiring of those who were born “white” and male, unless special permission is given to hire one such individual.
In Nazi Germany special permission was also given to place Jews in certain occupations. I’m sure special permission was granted also in South Africa to hire “non-whites”.
