Hundreds of French youths fought with police and set cars ablaze on Saturday in a second night of rioting which media said was triggered when two teenagers were electrocuted while fleeing police. The teenagers were killed and a third seriously injured on Thursday night when they were electrocuted in an electricity sub station as they ran away from police investigating a break-in, media reported. And a third. Clichy-sous-Bois is a Paris suburb with a population of around 28,000 and the home of the first “Beurger King Muslim”. 50 percent of the population is under 25 and a quarter are unemployed. Most are immigrants from Northern Africa.
As we know, this has all happened because Jacques Chirac hates black people.

Clichy-Sous-Bois opened its first Muslim-Themed ‘Beurger King’ earlier this year to serve halal burgers- meaning burgers made with meat slaughtered according to Islamic dietary laws.

What is Muslim-themed anyway? .. is it sort of like the many Christian or Jewish-Themed burger places whose locations escape me. Or do they just mean a fast food place with a lot of decorative bullet holes.

I keep fearing that this rioting will actually spread, so long as it stays isolated in the immigrants ‘burbs’, and the riot police can deal with it. (Very roughly I might add, were an American SWAT team or police detachment, doing what the French regularly do, there’d be no end of lawsuits and kerfuffle) it’s pretty well a minor/local issue in France.
Once it actually starts to spread and get serious… well, I’ll refer you all to La Commune, wherein the late 1800’s the French Army actually had to take back large parts of Paris from social revoltionarys.
Bayonets were fixed. Artillery was used. Against Frenchmen, not even “foreign immigrants” of substantially different skin colour and culture.
The French Army is not noticeably a “racially integrated” force compared to,say, the US Army.
It’ll be “us vs. them” urban combat and it’ll be nasty.

The rioting reminds me of what I learned in my European history class about ‘May 68’ in France. May 68 started out just like these riots.
