There were only two anomalies during the voting. Andrew at BBG tipped me off when his votes shot up suddenly, but I couldn’t find any evidence of tampering. The other was that a supporter of The Black Rod couldn’t vote for him. I have taken the liberty of adding 14 votes — one for each day of voting allowed — to even things up. Kate was made aware of the problem right after the awards were announced, but we couldn’t fix the bug to allow this person to vote. The extra votes have not changed the outcome, however.
I will have some graphic buttons up for the winners to use by tomorrow. Apologies for lagging on this, but I’m buried in work right now and still half dead from my annual ‘birthday flu’ (it’s a couple of weeks early this year).
Thx everyone.
Sean M.
Addendum: First, let me thank Sean again for filling in while I was away, and taking on this project. There has been some chatter about possible “vote rigging” in the comments. Just so we’re clear on this – the poll isn’t about what blog is the “best” at this or that. There are no cash prizes (except for the Best Moonbat category, where information about the $10,000 in prize money has been reported to Canada Revenue Agency) – nor will there be any nifty dead gopher logos handed out.
Take this little competition in the spirit in which it was offered – a bit of fun and an opportunity to introduce each other to a few new blogs you may not have been aware of. – Kate

There was tampering on both “Angry in the Great White North” and “Bound by Gravity”. At about 9am on Friday “Bound by Gravity” was in third place and trailing by 20 votes – at 9:30am it was in the lead by 50 votes. At approx 3:30pm – “Angry in the Great White North” was counting up all the way from the 380ish mark to 600 – getting a vote every second like a clock (if you hit refresh on your browsers it would count up like a clock) – it stopped right at 600. The next time I checked the tally at around 4:00, “Bound by Gravity” was up about 150 votes to get this, be in a tie with “Angry in the Great White North” at 601 – then it all just STOPPED. Ya Right!!!
Thanks to Kate for this effort, There are many ways to use this list. I find printing it off works for me. Using it as a reference, one can pick up some new sites to put on your sufing list.
IT’s nice to see newer sites encouraged. Hidden Agenda, Mkbratten.com, Waking Up On Planet X. Also, way to go Strong, I thought you would make in the stretch. 73s TG
Sure can’t put much over on *The Truth*, now can ye? TG
Sean, Why don’t you kick that flu thing. Change your food buying to getting real foods from the peoduce cepartment.
Make a habit of snacking on dates, dried apricots, NOT candy. Keep a can of cashews on the go and get mandarine oranges and bananas. You’ll be feeling better inside of two weeks.
Put those bowls of dry cereal in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes. Make the cereal shredded wheat, mini shreded wheat and raisin bran. Avoid the corn flakes.
Nuking enhances the flavour and softens those damn hard mini wheats. 73s TG
Oh almost forgot. Raspberries, even canned are good, and drink more juices, especially Raspberry / Cranberry mix or either one. TG
Tony,
TheTruth recounts what happened very well. It all seemed to start when I posted the polls on my site – but perhaps there was some other factor. It was odd.
Something funky happened with mine on Friday. I was emailing Stephen Taylor about it while it was happening. Between 5pm and 7pm Easten my votes went from 387 or something, and lagging BBG which had been behind me by 15 votes at lunch time, then shot up and was ahead by 80 at 4pm.
At 7pm I was at *exactly* 600. Weird.
Then BBG surged again to tie me (actually got ahead by a bit), but then the voting settled down and I came out ahead.
With the weirdness (I know I didn’t do anything, and I’m certain Andrew at BBG was innocent), I’d be happy to share the top billing with BBG and Project Alberta.
Our three blogs were swapping the lead through the two weeks prior to the Friday freakiness.
Angry’s research on David Smith and Abotech deserves an award on its own.

Ottawa
Agreed Mark. Angry is damn good, and deserves the win.
Flu remedy? Talisker scotch as much as you can stand, with caramel or toffee on the side. Cheddar as well.
Was just over at the 2.0 version of sda.
….really disturbed I’d say. Lotta work for no real point.
Carry on.
Reading Jean Paul Sartre causes Nausea.
Since I was one of the parties involved, I think I should say something.
It doesnt matter; it doesnt matter because the poll already did what it was suppose to do before all that Friday business. It got our blogs’ hits and we should all thank SDA for that. I personally feel that all blogs nominated are great and because of these nominations I have visited blogs that Ive never been to before AND THAT IS WHAT COUNTS. If I would have finished first, it might not be considered fair because as many of you are aware, Im also a message board, which IMO may be hard to compete with (as it turns out, it wasnt for these superior bloggers). My site had a blog page on it once upon a time but I dont think it held a candle to those others that were nominated in my class; it was the message board and mainly other posters that got my site nominated THANKS.
We were honored just to be nominated with the likes of Captain Ed and Angry and Maloney- and our traffic has increased noticeably as well. We noticed the votes shooting up in the other category too and couldn’t figure it out.
We also heard from that voter who couldn’t vote too, we appreciate the gesture of adding his votes. But we were wondering why on the ballot page it shows 196-163-143 if Angry got 239?
First of all, I never expected to get nominated, let alone win, which was a very nice bonus. I think the best thing, as JackIsBack pointed out, is that we were all introduced to a whole new audience.
The second-best thing was pissing Anonalogue off so he created his BS awards that then were horsetraded. Watch for STAGELEFT posting a POSITIVE post on THREE CPC policies, with a GOOD THING TO SAY about Harper.
Cost of entry? Pissing Anonalogue off
Creating my own graphic by juryrigging something from the net? $0.00
Getting Balbulican to post something nice about CPC?
PRICELESS!
I’ll send the link to everyone I know – make sure you all go & comment on it (I think he had to negotiate with the other contributors LOL)
Oh maybe it was just a mistake because I see his total in the Hard News poll was exactly 239. Never mind.
Best “Angry Canadian”
Polling in the Small Dead Blogs Awards has closed for 2005. And in the categories Best Whistleblower Blog, Best Hard News Blog, and Best Canadian Blog the winner is… Angry in the Great White North. Congrats! I’ll also point out…
Sharing the limelight with littlegreenfootballs… Congrats!
Thanks for spotlighting my photoblog.
Interesting list of winners you have here.
Just a note.
In the photoblog category, Making Happy is a dot com not dot ca.
Also Jackson’s Junction is not a photoblog at all. I’m really suprised that people never double checked the eligibility of certain sites in certain categories.
I think Angry has an immense talent.
Photojunkie, I nominated Jackson’s Junction as a photoblog because there was no “videoblog” category. And really, what is video but a collection of thousands of photos?
NO dead gopher logo, Kate? I am disappointed. I think I’ll go read some Jean Paul Sartre!
