Thanks, Monte!

I told you I was working on a future patronage appointment...

Seriously, Monte Solberg is one of those politicians we should be encouraging, no matter our political leanings. He hasn't played it "safe" in breaking into the blogosphere, and he's a breath of fresh air in federal politics because of it.

While not everyone is temperamentally suited to blogging, if more politicians spoke directly to their constituants in this medium, the level of cynicism that is threatening to undermine our democratic institutions might be alleviated just a little.

(Don't forget Laurie Hawn and Andrew Scheer, either!)

Nothing like a MP actually noticing you to put a little extra spring in your step.

"I told you I was working on a future patronage appointment..."

Count yourself lucky you're young because it will be a long time coming

"By the way you need to check out Kate's artwork on her main site. She is one talented girl, and with a sense of humour too."

Girl? Such political incorrectness! Obviously a Conservative troglodyte! ;)

LOL Keith! and wtg Kate

off topic - anyone catching Stockwell talking Maurice Strong/Cordex/OfF & Pedicure is dancing and defending the "emminent Canadian" from these awful allegations, new spin on "let Gomery," now it's "let the UN..."

Monte went into politics....must have been something in that "speedy creek" water.

Kate, you really shouldn't send me to MP sites. I had to send Monte an email asking him whether he thought that if:
- the Sponsorship program was to keep Canada united
- the Reform Party was born out of western alienation
- it doesn't appear that a dime of the sponsorship money ever made it east of the PQ/ON border

then:
is it safe to assume that AB & whichever provinces care to join us could just close the borders and walk away and the Libs would be okay with that since Canadian unity is an issue to the Liberals only with respect to Quebec? (and they wouldn't notice until the cheques quit showing up?)

On the bright side, I'm sure all CPC candidates will work very very hard to get me a CPC MP so that THEY quit getting emails from me LOL

The gopher is sleeping? Wow, that changes my whole outlook on this place.

Ive always maintained that the gopher was either;
a.wanting a tummy rub,
b.sunning itself,
c.snoozing after eating farmers wheat.

We may need an autopsy kate...
I dont see any signs of blunt object trauma, can you turn it over so we can examine it from the other side and bring this to a conclusion before rumors start and your credibilty becomes subject?

Gotta clean my contacts, I thought it was a picture of Martin waiting for Layton to climb on.... :-\

Rob, I almost choked! too funny

Sorry Candace, I think it was all the talk about the Betty Crocker diet, or whatever he's on, that through me off. Kinda wide in the mid section....

If ontario votes the libs back in ,this might be the result.

Yes Dave,

We just be all waiting to see what happens in the election, or if games will be played to delay an election, in some cases. I think they'll be overwhelmed at the response. There is also a party in SK, and both of them have been having meetings.......... shhhh

Isn't the emphasis with the SK site a "western seperation" thing whereas the Alberta site is an "Albert seperation" thing?

They should probably team up on at least a temporary basis, get seperated then go their further seperate ways if they want (which they may want to hash out in advance).

Jay, they read your mind... ;-)

I think that's what there doing but haven't revealed it yet. They just say publicly that there sharing ideas.

Sask. is has just as much wealth as AB, if not more, it's only just now starting to be developed. The uranium industry is fairly large, and would have no problem getting bigger, and they have tar sands, oil, and agriculture, and a lot of other incentives.

Jay:

Alberta is interested in Western Separation, the "Alberta Separation" thing is part of the "divide and conquer" crap that we see so much of.

Ideally, BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba could become a new country, unfortunately the socialism rampant in BC would make that difficult.

LOL, I'm not sure whether it's the rampant socialism or the simple inability for everyone there to agree on one thing. At the same time. For the 8-12 hours a vote would take.

They'd probably be happier having the Lower Mainland carved out and creating a city-state like Monaco, complete with the very wealthy & casinos.

Cool idea Candace..... we could all take a Ferry ride and play the slots.... ;-)

I was going to use tables, wheel, etc., but it just didn't have the same impact.

Yes and they could fleece the easterners LOL. I was VERY surprised when living there to discover that a great many LotusLanders see "easterners" as anything east of the Rockies. Most, however, call "us" (AB/SK/MB) flatlanders, with "easterner" with the right tone of voice, of course, Ontario/PQ. Maritimes, as always, the Maritimes, but sometimes the eastcoast.

Very eclectic bunch there.

Actually, I think this is the solution to Canad'as problems...

Candace:
"easterners as anything east of the Rockies": not quite, it depends on where you're from. For example, real Westerners live on Vancouver Island; one heads East to visit Vancouver, and generally if one travels east of Hope you have passed into "Eastern Canada".

Cheers
JMH
