Oh yeah, I used to believe it... but the science is so incredible sloppy and the contrary facts are so numerous... and "science by concensus" is crap. Just because X number of "scientists" claim it's true does not make it so.

Rush was all over the same story today. Whatever the "science" says, the global warming crowd will find a way to make it fit into their version of the "truth".

The feds will set up boths on every corner so you can purchase Carbon Credits for that. If you get caught running your lawnmower with out the properly issued credits, it could mean life imprisonment. It is a major violation to try and defraud the CCRA.

It's hard to deny the melting of the polar caps, the 3degree temp rise worldwide over the last 100 yrs which btw coincides with our heavy use of oil, summer droughts&mild winters, etc.
All of these can mean nothing compared to the biggest contributor of CO2--seismic activity--it dwarfs our spewing.
The real problem, i think, is the political infiltration of pure science. Who to believe and which side is he on?..christ.

Both of these have been disproven. There's no evidence of rise in sea levels from melting ice caps and the "hockey stick" has a badly broken blade.

CO2 is not a greenhouse gas, because there is no "greenhouse effect" happening in the atmosphere. Changes in Earth's climate are closely related to solar activity, not natural or man-made production of CO2.

CO2 is "plant food".

Though a volcano eruption might cool things off for a couple of years (see Pinatubo) it's clear that there's significant effect on climate due to human activity.

btw, I didn't say anything about rising sealevels, cuz melting polar regions doesn't cause this--that's a scare tactic of YOUR apparent gang--. And if CO2 isn't the magic molecule to trap heat in the atmosphere(proven umpteen times) then what is? H2O? or leadarsenic?

Try an experiment.

First fill up a glass with water, now start pouring more water in if from the tap. How in hell did you keep it from overflowing?

I don't know what happens in your bizzare universe, but when an ice CAP melts in mine, the surrounding water is added too - where do you propose it goes if the sea doesn't rise?

Global Warming is the new religion. Evangelists strut and fret on the world stage while fervent believers cower in fear. Anyone who questions this new religion are mocked and persecuted.

The alleged information is demonstrated to be fraudulent, but the concept is so firmly ingrained in the collective mind that we somehow WANT to believe it. We are told from the beginning of our education that Global Warming is true and honest and indisputable, therefore it must be.

A New World Order arises, promising to repair the damage being done by our wanton and sacreligious desecration of Mother Earth. Kyoto finds a way to fine those who continue to ignore the "obvious fact" of Global Warming.

But it's all BS. Even a cursory examination of the actual facts shows that the entire Global Warming Industry is based on self-serving deliberately manufacutured data. The ONLY people pushing the AGW (anthropogenic global warming, or manmade) theory have something to gain from us believing it. Those who have been told about AGW by someone they trust truly do NOT want to see the light, it would damage their trust in whoever: a teacher, David Suzuki, whatever.

After spending weeks researching AGW for a great business idea 3 years ago, I discovered a fact that actually surprised me. AGW is fake, unreal, a deliberate and gigantic lie. The alleged "evidence" is faulty and in many cases faked to fit the hoped-for results.

The famous "hockey stick" graph was a numbers trick, not a genuine piece of science. Sea level rises, such as those claimed by Tuvalu, don't exist. Sea levels documented by mariners almost 200 years ago are still within millimeters of today's sea level. Somehow we are never told that the ice shelves breaking off in the Antarctic are actually being replaced at a FASTER rate on the other side.

Manmade Global Warming is truly the biggest lie ever perpetrated by those hiding behind Science. Once the theory is finally completely discredited and demonstrated for the intentional fraud it is, Science will carry a black eye for decades.

Oh yeah, I USED to believe. I also used to mock those who seemed so blind and insensitive to the "plight" of our "fragile planet". I was wrong. And so are you, if you still believe it.

take an icecube and stick it in a bucket, at the same temp, and allow it to melt partially--meaning it displaces the same volume as the ice--don't forget the iceberg is submerged and takes up volume.
MOST of any iceberg displaces more volume than water, and the water merely fills the melted area.
Besides, mockpuppet, you entirely miss the point,..it's becoming ALL politics, and that's a shame.

Whether global brightening will allow more heat to escape, or be captured, is open to scientific debate. And whether global warming is good science or mostly bunk is also open to scientific debate.

But the Kyoto Accord is about politics, and I contend it's in no small part about creating a system for "global equalization payments." That its effect is to take tax dollars from hard-working Torontonians and redistribute them to underperforming (and therefore under-emitting) economies halfway around the world.

And as bad as that could be, we can only hope that it isn't marred by corruption.
