The Conservatives want an apology from Immigration Minister Joe Volpe for comparing them to the Ku Klux Klan. The Opposition party is made up of racists, Volpe said Tuesday, calling members recognizable "notwithstanding that they don't have their cowl and their cape.""The Klan looks like it's still very much alive," the minister added.
Volpe made the comments in response to a poster prank in which two Conservative MPs refer to the Liberals as the The Liberanos, a mocking reference to the television Mafia show The Supranos.
"I think these are a couple of fine, upstanding members of the new Conservative Klan," Volpe said, referring to a picture of Tory MPs Lee Richardson and Werner Schmidt holding a copy of the poster. [no spellcheckers at CP? - ed]

I would compare the Liberal Party to the KKK, but that might be unfair to the KKK -not that I have anything but disgust for the KKK -or the Libranos.

Dear Sir,
I�ll apologize up front for the inevitable spelling and punctuation errors in this letter as the eye-holes in my white hood somewhat obstruct my sight. In addition, the burns I suffered in our last cross raising make typing rather painful.
I�ll turn the sarcasm off for a second to express the disgust I feel from your recent comments calling me, and my fellow Conservatives, members of the KKK. I understand that as a single ignorant Albertan I can easily be dismissed as bigoted redneck holocaust denier. However please explain how my fellow Alberta voters, who chose only two Liberals MPs, are members of the KKK. As we are not from the enlightened province of Ontario I can understand how you could paint say 80% of us as ignorant hicks who support the KKK�but what do you say to the other 20%. Those 20% who fail to don (don in the lower case, not meant in the mafia sense) the illustrious white hood?
The Libranos poster is nothing but satire. For defintion I�ll paraphrase P.J. O�Rourke, �Parody is when you make fun of someone smarter than you. Satire is when you make fun of someone richer than you (in this case due to your party�s kickbacks). And burlesque is when you do both while taking off your clothes� (I�ll defer to Judy Sgro on this one).

This guy is our Immigration Minister!" - then all those googling will see just what a pathetic excuse for a politician he is.
The CPC should make that their lead ad in Ontario. Then we'll see who makes them feel the need to sleep with the lights on...

On an associated note, Joe Volpe has been on to us about the discriminatory aspect of VE day with reference to those of Italian descent. His suggestion is that VE should in future refer to Victory in the Election Day, the date when the Liberals triumph at the forthcoming vote

Dear xxx,
Since being elected, Paul Martin�s Liberals have delivered on their commitments to (steal from) Canadians (and cover it up). In less than one year they have negotiated a 10-year health care agreement, started a nation-wide early childhood development program and are committing gas tax revenues to ensure Canadians have vibrant communities to live and work (and gave away power to the NDP). Paul Martin�s Liberals are committed to making this government work (at all costs). But today this progress is being threatened (because we got caught).

On Thursday, April 21, Prime Minister Paul Martin spoke directly to Canadians � accepting responsibility and claiming accountability as leader of the Liberal Party of Canada (FOR WHAT???)� and encouraged us to allow this government to continue moving forward with an ambitious agenda still to be accomplished in the House of Commons (We have billions of Ontario's dollars to give away still...).
He also promised an election call within 30 days of Justice Gomery�s final report (whitewash) on the Sponsorship Program.
It wasn�t so long ago that Mr. Harper was threatening to bring the government down if the Liberals obstructed the work of the Gomery Commission
Now, sensing opportunity (we Libranos never do that...), with his perception skewed by visions of increased political power (maybe he learned how to put the knife into someone from watching Paulie Librano stalk Chretien???), Mr. Harper is threatening to pull the plug on Parliament and hold an election before Judge Gomery can complete his work! (paragraph k will ensure that nothing comes out)
Mr. Harper feels this would be in his own personal best interest, and that of the Bloc Quebecois. But it is certainly not in the best interest of the majority of Canadians who want Justice Gomery to complete the job entrusted to him.
Mr. Harper has made it clear that an election is coming � because he wants one. The Liberal Party is gearing up to be ready if the Conservatives and Bloc gain the votes needed to dissolve Parliament.

Take it from an outsider who has been living here for years: It just aint workin' in the Great White North.
I think that it is imperative that we do everything that we can to make this thing stick to Volpe, and by extension, the Libs. Consider if this situation was reversed; the MSM and the Libs would be all over it like, pardon the expression, white on rice. And the Libs would make it stick that the CPC is full of intolerant, insensitive bigots. The reality is that Volpe is the one who crossed way over the line of good taste and tolerance, and needs to be rebuked. PMPM will not do it, so we need to express outrage at the top of our lungs; call your MP, the PM, write letters to the papers, whatever. One more nail in the coffin for these clowns. LET'S MAKE THIS STICK!

The Libranos poster was the focus of Question Period in the H of C today and was staunchly defended by the Conservatives as being symbolic of the corruption in the Liberal party. Kate, you don't need a tips jar; just print thousands of those posters and sell them to the CPC for their election campaign in Ontario. (Darken the faces to avoid law-suits - everyone knows who they are anyway.) I predict you'll be on the Tonight Show before the next election! ;-)
Again, Canuckistan is too fractious politically so parties win by deafult--the path of least resistance--and the Libs have that down cold. The conservatives don't get this. Voting conservative requires too much brain power for a Canuck and might mean that you'd actually have to work hard for a living and possibly compete against someone better thatn yourself.
