Sgrena Update: US Military Cleared

The New York Post is reporting that a joint US-Italian investigation has cleared US military personnel in the death of an Italian secret service agent who was escorting terrorist collaborator-journalist Giuliana Sgrena after her purchase from Iraqi "captors".

The car was about 130 yards from a checkpoint when the soldiers flashed their lights to get it to stop. They fired warning shots when the car was within 90 yards of the checkpoint, but at 65 yards, they used deadly force. Calipari was killed and Sgrena wounded.

Considering how bogus her claims were, it shouldn't have even taken this long.

What a shame the military has to waste time investigating every crackpot claim that comes along - they have better things to do.

Gee - I remember the incident, I remember the outrage, I recall the promises of investigation.

I also recall the spin from the left, insisting that this demonstrated the callous and cruel nature of the US "occupiers", among other things.

Now, why is it that I haven't seen the exoneration ANYWHERE except here? Nah, the media has NO bias, none at all...

Um, nice try but no.

The Associated Press reports that (A) the investigation isn't concluded, because (B) the Italians are unsatisfied about the US' refusal to fully cooperate with investigators.

The New York post is a rag. Remember when they got the "jump" on everyone else by announcing that Kerry had picked Gephardt as his running mate? You shouldn't rely on them for news, otherwise you look like a person who doesn't care about facts.

Apparently the US wouldn't allow the Italian investigaters to see the automobile involved, and the I-Ties keep sticking to thier story that the americans knew they were coming and that they were only going 30-35 mph.
