LOL that's better than Checkers!

Outstanding! I cannot wait for a detachment of Marines, camping out in the ruins of one of his castles. But ya gotta admit- Martin is a lot cuter than Saddam. (And I doubt very much if Martin has a gold-plated H&K Mp5 with a silencer on it- yet. (He can depend on the RCMP and JTF2 for that.) We have not met JTF1, yet.

Ok, maybe I'm dumb, but, what does prorouge mean?

The caption it what makes this so damn funny!

I know that "to prorogue" means to end a Session. If Martin prorogued the Session, then the 1st Session of the 38th Parliament would end. A 2nd Session would require the GG to summon Parliament back to work for a 2nd Session, and we would have a new Speech from the Throne, etc.

As far as I can tell, it would just be a stalling tactic.

Prorouge is an in-joke from the alien "neo-con" slayer who sadly has departed from these precincts. He/It was a star attraction on the Red-Green show. The hostess booted He/It off this site. (Beware: He/It has been seen on other blogs).
He/It was on a par with Abnormal who also skeedaddled under a cloud.

Sorry about the cryptic allusions; with those two gone off to better places life posting/commenting life is sweet.

PM Martin est delanda.

Prorogue means in favour of swindlers, a position the PM vehemntly denies
Thanks for your suggested approach to the TV slot.
Due to an unfortunate mix-up, we are having difficulty coming up with an approach

Five minutes into the infomercial if he senses he's not winning over the voters he'll pull out his new line of "Paul Martin Salad Dressings".

Alternate income stream...

2 times in a row I get to laugh my A$$ off. ..Thanks Kate!!!

Totally related...

And who says a leopard never changes its spots?

Another synopsis from an earlier edition of the Liberal Quebec playbook

Comical Paulie. Indeed.

Unrelated but frustrating question: How come when I click on a link in the comments, rather than opening a new window the link appears IN the comments/Haloscan window? with no "back" button or expansion capabilities? making me crazy...

Loving the "unfortunate mixup"; however, Will, I doubt PM could come up with PM Salad Dressings without some sort of copyright enfringement... like that's the biggest of Paulie's worries right now! Like a little copyright enfringement would bother him *bang head against desk* must dye hair brown, must dye hair brown

Ceaucescu's, er, Martin's swansong, farewell appearance, night (Knight) of the Long Knives' mea culpa, will open with this splash page:

By the way, for all the leftie nitwits out there that think the CBC is unbiased, try doing a little google for 'Power Broadcasting Inc" and CBC. PBI just happens to be a subsidiary of - wait for it - Power Corp. Please see Maurice Strong posts here for further insights.

Kate,

Bravo again...I believe that was the hapless Iraqi information minister...even better

Serious question now. If this is as bad as it looks, and the links of Gagliano are real...will we see a "hit"? Sounds fanciful, but would shock me at all. After all we live in the Dominion of Bananada.

Does Paul Martin have weapons of mass destruction to use in the event of a no confidence motion.

Does Paul Martin have weapons of mass destruction to use in the event of a no confidence motion.

Or perhaps this one, "Martin's Survivor Broadcast", might be the purpose and message (feel free to consider the perms & combinations)?

Enjoy

OT, but a good read is stupidangrycanajun. Discovered it this morning.

Hopefully we can roast liberal stomachs in hell.
Comical Pauli,... too much

A fellow phoned into CFRA and said:

During Q.P. today Pauli's going to grab Belinda and climb to the top the Peace Tower.

Hunchback of Notre Dame, just try to come and get him.

PM has brought the talk over to 4:00p.m. Vancouver time - as per CBC

Daisy
A tactical ploy to outfox the opposition.
Just a taster of what can be expected in any forthcoming election

LOL! That's great :-)

side note; I really miss Bagdad Bob. He was hilarious.

ROFLMAO...that is without doubt the best one yet

'Tariq of the North'

What a terrific photo, Kate. Our favorite - the Iraqi Minister of DisInformation, who declared that "We are winning; the Americans will never beat us"..even as the Marines moved into Baghdad Airport. He was great...and we can look forward to an equally ingenuous performance from Martin this evening.
It's anyone's guess what he'll do.
1) Call an election now? Risky. No.
2) Prorogue parl't? End the session, telling His People that he cannot act as Their Great Leader because of the evil machinations of the Others. Then call parl't back - but only IF the Evil Others behave. If they don't behave...
3) Close the Gomery Inquiry. He wouldn't dare.
4) Offer everyone a tax rebate of 1,000. Hmmm

I'll opt for #2..He'll list the items he wants to do, and say that they won't happen unless the Evil Opposition shuts up and stops acting like an opposition and instead, acts submissive and shuts up.

Martin will list the items he wants to bribe various areas of the country with their own money, will decry the outrageous lack of performance in the House and blame it on the Opposition. THEN he WILL prorogue parliament.
That is my take on it. They say that he won't resign and that he won't dissolve parliament, yet what is left for him to do? He is playing for time and that is his only option.
He has to know that the Commons Committee is going to bring up a non-confidence vote in the committee on May 2 and that will be brought to the floor of Parliament.
His only tactic, as I see it, to forestall that is to prorogue parliament. And he is going to the people to justify it: Just hate to do it, you know, but parliament has proved completely unmanageable with all these 'unfounded accusations' flying across the floor in Question Period- as though that is all there is to the workings of the House. SO, until Justice Gomery has had a chance to hear all the evidence and testimony and filed his report we are going to dissolve parliament so that I, your PM and honest Abe of Canada , can get on with the legitimate work of the government while those meanie opposition parties can go home to their ridings and sulk.

Hope some Liberal Party handlers are pouring through these blogs every once in a while. If so, they should be getting the picture. The bastards are cornered this time. None of their BS Voodoo works anymore.

You know, that if he progues parliament and continues to govern the country, he has removed his actions from democratic accountability and set up the government as a yes, dictatorship.

Hitler did that in.. The April 1932 vote gave the Nazi's the most seats, but only as a minority. The July 1932 gave them a majority but Hitler rejected a coalition. He had to rule alone..and in 1933, he got it, saying that he wanted to put His Program into effect...and asked the German people ' Give us four years time and then pass judgment on us". And that was the end of democracy in Germany. Hitler was elected to a then democratic system, and then, removed the oppositions and set himself up as ruler - without having to deal with opposition, questions and votes.

Would Martin dare to do this? Would he use the emotive tactic, as did Hitler, of his desire to 'save the country', and 'save the people' and his need for time and freedom from opposition to do All These Good Things?

I'm rambling. He wouldn't dare.

At least Baghdad bob gave regularly scheduled press conferences. Not like Dithers.

On the serious side, if Martin really wanted to 'address the nation', I mean the whole nation, he'd set a time when 'everyone' could be home to watch it if they really wanted to. In BC most people will still be at work at 4pm and in Alberta they'll be stuck in traffic on their way home. What Martin is doing is preaching to the choir in Ontario and Quebec. He's hoping he can convince a few voters who have already jumped ship out of disgust to change their minds. What he's scared to death of is coming in third in the next election and not even being the leader of the official oposition. I think he has good reason to be scared.

Napoleon dithered, too. He was goaded by his brothers and the rest is, well, we know.

Martin is being pushed/goaded by his "brothers"; will he don the crown?

Will he don the crown...?

"Would Martin dare to do this? Would he use the emotive tactic, as did Hitler, of his desire to 'save the country', and 'save the people' and his need for time and freedom from opposition to do All These Good Things?

I'm rambling. He wouldn't dare."

He just might Dare, he just might and that is what truely frightens me about the liberals. After all they are the only "National Socialist" party in Canada, what really angle grinds my crack though is how they paint conservatives as Nazi's

Daryl

Relax, relax everyone... it was just a silly typo on the memo from the PMO. What they really meant was that at 7:00pm eastern they PM would like to Undress the Nation . Less than an hour to go and I'm getting all tingly already. It's going to be quite a Party! Can I get ready earlier - is that allowed here?

Flashback...
CBC Reporter: "Mr. Prime Minister, how far are you willing to go?"
Prime Minister: "Just watch me."

MARTIN:
"I am sorry that we weren't more vigilant... that I wasn't more vigilant."
QUIT! You messed up. No more chances.

"Make sure those who have violated the public trust have been identified and will pay."
How about starting with you? Harper said there's no way you would have created Gomery if you won a majority last year. BINGO!

"I set up Gomery. I fired Alfonso Gagliano from amb. to Denmark"
Big Whoop. Who is in jail? Where's my money?

"I ordered audit of Liberal books."
To quote Peter McKay... it's kind of hard to audit envelopes of cash.

"If so much as a dollar is found to have made its way into the Liberal books, it will be repaid."
How will you pay back three stolen elections? A coup has taken place in Canada. Who would trust you to fix what you should have seen in the first place? That is, if you weren't in on it all along! Puhleeze.

"I am cleaning it up. Willing to be judged on my record of action."
Again... this is like asking Paul Bernardo to be in charge of the investigation of the girls he killed. I'll pick someone else, thank you very much.

"Parliament is not working..."
Oh, I guess you prefer the dictatorship of a majority. Thank God you didn't win one.

"Only the judge can determine the truth"
I've seen enough. I don't need a judge to tell me that this stinks to high hell.

"I am prepared to face Canadians. I will be politically accountable."
Oh yeah... call it now!!!!

"There are people who think I was wrong to call this inquiry."
Oh yeah... you deserve a medal! My hero. That's like me bragging that I did't steal money out of my wife's wallet today. Big man called the inquiry. Joke!

"I will not dishonour this office. I have too much respect for this place."
TOOOOOOOOOOO LLLLLLAAAAATTTTTEEEEEEEE!

"I believe in the good that govt can do."
I believe I'm going to throw up.

**********

HARPER:

"Martin's decision to call election last year to get around Gomery."
BINGO!

"Do Cdns. believe this is the man to clean up the mess."
No friggin way.

"Would Gomery happen if Libs. won a majority last year?"
Hmmm. I don't think so.

"Are the Liberals the ones to prosecute themselves?"

Hmm... maybe not.

And then... Harper went on the stump... good for him!

"The Libs have done tremendous damage to this country's institutions, esp. in QC. This is a Lib. scandal that happened in QC."
"
"Build a united Cda where Liberal corruption is not part of it."

"Mr. Martin's speech not about saving the country... it was about saving the Lib. party."

"No need to save country... just a need to move it forward"

Harper and Layton both called him Mr. Dithers.

*************

In closing, I would like to thank Paul Martin for cranking up the heat on his own arse. Martin was as lame as expected and the other three got a prime opportunity to call Martin a crook who is stalling for time.

To quote Cosmo Kramer... put a fork in him (Martin)... he's done.

Caption: "No! no! you're too kind, thank you but no! we've already collected today's kickbacks. But please, come back tomorrow."

"In addition, I fired Alfonso Gagliano, the minister responsible for the sponsorship program, from his appointment as Ambassador to Denmark."
So he fired him from his appointment. So what. How about FIREING him TOTALLY!!!

From previous spew "The responsibility of the minister of finance is to set the financial context in which overall spending can be done. Once the minister of finance does that, which is essentially the presentation of the budget, his responsibility comes to a total end."
What does he do the rest of the term?
Give away our money?
Take our money?

"I am prepared to face Canadians. I will be politically accountable."
How about criminally accountable?
