I’m certainly not a neutral observer, but I think Stephen Harper just kicked Baghdad Paul’s ass around the corner.
(And Jack Layton… wants clean air. And bicycles! And mittens for poor children! And a brain, if he only had a brain..!)
Oh.. I’ve been meaning to mention this. In all the Liberal yattering about “wait for Justice Gomery to report”, has everyone forgotten that “ordinary citizen” Chretien has had his case fast-tracked in the Federal courts to have him removed?

Not only that, what Ezra did on global was a riot, posted the comment on Shotgun.
Layton was a super suck, “bring the budget Paulie, and will vote for it”. He did admit however it was a Librano problem.
It was wonderful.
Yeah, what the hell was that about with Layton? Was he briefed on the topic of the address before hand, or did he just show up and regurgitate his usual crap? Save the ozone! Well, sorry Jack, we can’t because all the money to do that has disappeared. Wank.
RG
My respect for Duceppe continues to grow. My respect for the NDP continues to diminish asymptotically towards zero. Liberals could not have demonstrated the true nature of the problem any better. Harper was competent.
PM Martin is done. So is Jack.
Harper and Duceppe have to drive home that it’s a Librano problem, and that the commission may be shutdown when Saddam Chretian goes to court.
Heather Hiscocks on CBC has just read 4 or 5 straight emails from Ontario in support of Paul Martin.
Oh now here is another email of support from a native person on a reserve.
Finally a voice of dissent from … Atlanta.
Hmm.
Posted these notes and comments further down, but that seems to be a dormant thread now that this one is going. Sorry for the duplication.

MARTIN:
“I am sorry that we weren’t more vigilant… that I wasn’t more vigilant.”
QUIT! You messed up. No more chances.
“Make sure those who have violated the public trust have been identified and will pay.”
How about starting with you? Harper said there’s no way you would have created Gomery if you won a majority last year. BINGO!
“I set up Gomery. I fired Alfonso Gagliano from amb. to Denmark”
Big Whoop. Who is in jail? Where’s my money?
“I ordered audit of Liberal books.”
To quote Peter McKay… it’s kind of hard to audit envelopes of cash.
“If so much as a dollar is found to have made its way into the Liberal books, it will be repaid.”
How will you pay back three stolen elections? A coup has taken place in Canada. Who would trust you to fix what you should have seen in the first place? That is, if you weren’t in on it all along! Puhleeze.
“I am cleaning it up. Willing to be judged on my record of action.”
Again… this is like asking Paul Bernardo to be in charge of the investigation of the girls he killed. I’ll pick someone else, thank you very much.
“Parliament is not working…”
Oh, I guess you prefer the dictatorship of a majority. Thank God you didn’t win one.
“Only the judge can determine the truth”
I’ve seen enough. I don’t need a judge to tell me that this stinks to high hell.
“I am prepared to face Canadians. I will be politically accountable.”
Oh yeah… call it now!!!!
“There are people who think I was wrong to call this inquiry.”
Oh yeah… you deserve a medal! My hero. That’s like me bragging that I did’t steal money out of my wife’s wallet today. Big man called the inquiry. Joke!
“I will not dishonour this office. I have too much respect for this place.”
TOOOOOOOOOOO LLLLLLAAAAATTTTTEEEEEEEE!
“I believe in the good that govt can do.”
I believe I’m going to throw up.
**********
HARPER:
“Martin’s decision to call election last year to get around Gomery.”
BINGO!
“Do Cdns. believe this is the man to clean up the mess.”
No friggin way.
“Would Gomery happen if Libs. won a majority last year?”
Hmmm. I don’t think so.
“Are the Liberals the ones to prosecute themselves?”
Hmm… maybe not.
And then… Harper went on the stump… good for him!
“The Libs have done tremendous damage to this country’s institutions, esp. in QC. This is a Lib. scandal that happened in QC.”
”
“Build a united Cda where Liberal corruption is not part of it.”
“Mr. Martin’s speech not about saving the country… it was about saving the Lib. party.”
“No need to save country… just a need to move it forward”
Harper and Layton both called him Mr. Dithers.
*************
In closing, I would like to thank Paul Martin for cranking up the heat on his own arse. Martin was as lame as expected and the other three got a prime opportunity to call Martin a crook who is stalling for time.
To quote Cosmo Kramer… put a fork in him (Martin)… he’s done.
p.s. – What a weasel that Layton is. No principles at all. He’s on TV talking about crooked policitians… and he’s playing let’s make a deal. What a lowlife.
Do they only watch CBC in ON?… hell I haven’t watched that channel in years…don’t think it’s even programmed…
To my fellow readers of the Liberal wonk persuasion: the Party earned what’s about to come next. The country didn’t, but you wonks don’t give a crap about that – which we all now know. Your boy let you down big time tonight by re-inforcing the power-at-any-cost component of the Liberal brand. Shouldn’t have gone on TV. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Too late now.
The only thing I could think of while watching that weasel Layton try to curry favour with the Liberals was “We’ve already DECIDED what you are, now we’re just haggling over the price.”
The CBC would select for Ont supporters of Libs to help whitewash the mess. If CBC was picking random samples, I might be more inclined to pay attention.
Harper went to the heart of the consequences of the scandal!
“The Liberal party can no longer speak for federalisim in Quebec! It is tarnished beyond redemption because Quebecers know it is beyond repair.”
I don’t think we will ever see another LIBERAL French-Canadian Prime Minister ever again!
CTV NewsNet seems to be all about Harper (Martin’s just stalling for time). Mike Duffy… I dunno, he’s all over the friggin’ map.
Am I the only one that noticed only Paul didn’t make himself available for questions afterward? I wonder if he’ll bother to show up in the House tomorrow.
On the bright side, Screechin’ Annie should be in town next week, I must remember to pop by (as a constituent) and let her know how much I appreciate her efforts on my behalf… Like why is CPC trying to get involved in court re beef & not her???????????
Ha…. will there be any Libranos in da house tomorrow…
What struck me the most of all was Duceppe’s treatment of the previous referendum: not only did the Liberals swindle the people of Quebec, they swindled the international community that declared it democratic. Brilliant move on his part. Damning.
Best of all, he was right.
Duceppe was pissed, which just happens to be a good thing, as the frustration leads to closer ties with Harper. These 2 parties can’t wait for May 2, and the little talk tonight was the final nail for Bagdad Paulie, there finished….
Bets on whether THIS letter gets read?

Subject: Paul Martin’s attempt to distance himself
Interesting take on “impartial” reporting you guys have. We get the full text of Martin’s pleas for mercy & time & understanding & & &. We get links to the Liberal Party. We get a link to Paul Martin himself.
Alternatively, we get a video (only) of Harper, Duceppe & Layton. We don’t have access to their answers to reporters (why, because the guy who signs your paycheques didn’t have the balls to face the reporters himself)?
Please. You are SUPPOSED to be presenting news, not be a free propaganda tool for the Criminal Liberals.
Maybe if you presented an unbiased report, you wouldn’t have to worry about budget cuts once the LIBS ARE DRUMMED OUT OF OFFICE!!!
By the way, if you care, NO, I will not be voting Liberal.
YES, I want an election NOW.

Jack dreams of a bike path from sea to shining sea. This is old stuff to those who have watched this media whore operate for years.
Yeah, what’s up with a 7pm speech? People are still watching Jeopardy, fer christ sakes.
Huge mistake on the letter Candace, you be a trash Edmontonian just like me… 😉
Should have said you were from Quebec City or something…. The west dosen’t exist in the CBC realm.
Candace, don’t hold back, tell us what you really think. 😉
There’s a Quebec Ave in Saskatoon? Ok, which Librano paid for that 😉
Howie… LOL
It was on at 5:00 P.M. here, so to us, this is old news… 😉
Jack Laydown.
Global just announced that PMPM will be joining them in the morning to take questions from the peoples. End run on the equal air time. Gloves off!
Kate when I try to get the Shotgun I get pairNIC domain registration. Is everyone having the same problem?
Q. What’s the difference between Martin and Layton?
A. Nobody thought Martin could be so stupid.
I just reloaded the Shotgun site with no problem. Do you have the right url?
http://westernstandard.blogs.com/shotgun
I get pairNIC domain registration
No problem here, been going there all night. Your computer may be doing lookups on a corrupted DNS.You may have a corrupted TCP/IP stack(restart the machine), or try a manual entry in the DNS lookup control panel like telus.net and enter the IP 199.185.220.250 . This will force your browser to do lookups at a different location.
Thank you!
Is it just me or did anyone else notice that Paul Martin’s eyes looked odd. His eyes were light brown but his natural eye colour is blue. I couldn’t figure out why his eyes looked so odd at first, but then I realized that his eye colour was wrong and he was wearing contact lenses. He had that uncomfortable look that people have who aren’t used to contact lenses. Mind you, he has a whole lot of other reasons to look uncomfortable.
All well said- but not all factually correct: Adscum is NOT merely a Quebec Liberal problem, It is a Quebec criminal underworld/mafia/Liberal problem. (Exactly the very same thing that was happening under the Mulgooney regime, (twenty years ago): a Quebec/criminal underworld/mafia/Conservative problem)- but the PMO’s office pulled the plug on the RCMP investigation on it. Cruton found an easier way to deal with that- he involved the RCMP in it.
Now- after the Glibs finish ‘investigating’ themselves, perhaps we can have the RCMP ‘investigating’ themselves, too. “Our investigations have found no criminal activities- so we have already shredded the evidence.”
The Librano foot soldiers are already out fear mongering in Mississauga. Give them till Jan. and every gay and immigrant in the country will be convinced the concentration camps will be open the day after Harper gets elected. NO, I am not exagerating, they are telling people to read Atwoods Hand Maids Tale to see what life would be like under the Conservatives.
Marsha BP
Ya noticed that, but attributed it to him being to full of sh$t. It had no were else to go….
Rob
You have a point there but right now he’s probably shitting bricks and they’re usually red
Nobody has picked up on the fact that Paul Martin has admitted that he is incompetant by stating that the “terrible mess” happened on the Liberals and his watch. This is a major development as before tonight he was saying that he had no part in the scandal. He also said that how would he, as Finance Minister, know what is going on with every invoice going out of the department of finance. I guess he realizes his goose is cooked and pulling the old Jason Giambi and admitting that he screwed up but “give me another chance”!!
I can’t believe all his BS about registering his company assets (ships) in Liberia has not made more media attention. Oh yeeh right, we are dealing with Pravda here.
Hey Paul Wells showed up at Andre Coyne’s blog and he seems a bit pissed. I wonder why.
BrightLeaf wrote…

That’s because CanWest Global is owned by the Asper family and they are big-time Liberal insiders
That’s ok, Rob, I sent a different one to the G&M (who also won’t post it, I’m sure), which is too bad, because I ended it with:
I guess he should dust off his resume.
I guess in six months we’ll all be saying “Paul WHO”?
rather proud of that one 😉
Candace… LOL
I’m not getting over exited just yet. Word on the street in southeren ON is that they bought a lot of this, although you would never know it in the blogs.
One guy said at the Shotgun “I’m seeing what Old Glory looks like with an extra row of stars”, which may be an indication, but there’s still a few weeks of testimony to come up, and all ya can do is keep the faith. But know this, if the Lib’s get any kind of power, it’s HARD CORE separatist all the way. I was headed that direction before Gomery started anyway, and I have a lot of followers.
I’ve heard you say it in the past as well…….
Candace, you’re a fellow Edmontonian? We’ll have to have a coffee meetup sometime. It’s always nice to meet another local instigator. 🙂
If the Crimerals are using Handmaidens Tail to scare monger 905 new Canadians to vote Crimeral again, then Harper can equally scare monger them to consider what happens if Quebec decides that Ontario voting Crimeral again is a good reason to separate, and the west says “you want to negotiate with now after screwing us over like that? take a hike”… I suspect the old country isn’t going to look so bad after all compared to a go-it-alone Ontari-ari-ari-oh-oh.
Of course Martin is going to be on Global. It’s payback time – while he can still cut cheques. He’s going to be presenting them with $50,000,000 of our money for the Asper’s pet project – some museum which most people outside of Winnipeg will never see. Like I said in a post at CQ, the faster the money and patronage appointments flow, the closer they are to bailing.
Both Martin & Harper are on Canada AM tomorrow – Martin at 7:15, Harper at 8:05… that should be interesting.
Although you’d think Paul would have figured out by now that going first, while perhaps acknowledging his ‘rank,’ is not necessarily a positive thing. Of course, you’d also think that he would have noticed billions and billions leaving the gov’t chests… not too bright, our Paulie.
Sunset
This was probably the best sunset so far this year. Lasted about 6.54 minutes. Soft wind blowing in the trees, hoots of owls. Nice….
The good news for Martin is that, thanks to the closed controlled environment, with no distractions, no interruptions, and limitless retakes, he managed to get through the whole thing without babbling or yammering like an idiot.
The bad news is, Harper booted him in the nuts. Haaard. And because of the all the hoopla, some people actually saw it.
